It’s official: Lauryn “Pumpkin” Shannon is engaged to her boyfriend Darrin Kitchens.

The ‘Mama June: Family Crisis’ star announced on Thursday that Darrin—her boyfriend since 2024— proposed to her on Wednesday. Darrin— who, as ‘Mama June’ fans are well-aware, is the cousin of Pumpkin’s ex-husband Josh Efird— also posted about the proposal on Facebook.

“Sooo I did a little thing last night… here’s to the future Mrs. & Mr. Kitchens,” he captioned a series of photos showing him getting down on one need in front of large letters that spell out “Marry Me.”

Pumpkin’s sister Alana Thompson and Alana’s boyfriend Dralin Carswell can be seen in the background during the proposal. (It does not appear that Mama June Shannon was present, though.) 

“ENGAGED,” Pumpkin wrote on Facebook. “I am literally STILL over the moon! Last night Darrin proposed, with Lana right by my side, and I seriously couldn’t have asked for anything better. These last 2 years have been a WILD ride but it’s a wild ride I wouldn’t wanna take with anyone else. We’ve had SO many good times, made so many memories, and I’ll never lie… we’ve definitely had our disagreements too. But at the end of the day, this love has always felt so different from anything I’ve ever experienced.”

Pumpkin went on to thank Darrin for supporting her through everything— which fans know includes divorce drama, her diving cooter-first into a career on OnlyFans and dealing with her family.

“The way you support me, the way you love me, the way you love my kids, and most importantly, the way you ALWAYS lift me up means more to me than you’ll ever know,” You’ve stood beside me and for that I’m so thankful I get to do life with you. I’m so excited for this next chapter, for our future, for our family, and for all the memories we still have ahead of us. I love you more than you’ll ever know babyy. Here’s to forever!

“And honestly… The Future Mrs. Kitchens has a NICE RING to it.”

Although Pumpkin and Darrin received many well wishes on their engagement, there were also plenty of fans who advised Pumpkin to protect her assets— namely the buckets of money she’s supposedly earning on OnlyFans.

“Get a prenup!” many advised.

Others wondered if Darrin used Pumpkin’s sexy-time money to purchase her engagement ring.

“Of course he’s supportive you’re his income,” someone wrote.

“He’s gotta lock it down. Can’t lose the cash cow!” another person commented.

Pumpkin and Darrin have had a rather bumpy relationship course. Pumpkin introduced Darrin to the world on Facebook just days after announcing her divorce from Josh in August 2024.

“I know our personal business was leaked to the Internet,” she wrote at the time. “… Josh and I decided to split a few months back mutually. Some things just don’t work & truly that’s okay. To love someone is to let them go & that has been a hard road for us to navigate.”

Pumpkin received quite a bit of criticism once fans discovered that Josh is Darrin’s cousin.

Pumpkin and Josh finalized their divorce and custody arrangement for their four kids one month later in September 2024.

Back in July 2025, Pumpkin brushed off the idea of marrying Darrin, stating that they were just enjoying their time together.

“Honestly, we’re taking it day by day,” Pumpkin said in an interview. “Like, I don’t want to rush anything. I really felt like I did that in my previous marriage and maybe that’s where I went wrong. So like, with this [relationship], I really, really do like him, so I do want to just take things easy and take things slow.

“I’m not rushing anything,” she added. “ … I have just learned that it’s OK to pick myself sometimes and it’s OK to make myself happy, you know?” Pumpkin said. “Like, it’s not all about, realistically, what everybody else wants … .

Pumpkin and Darrin have not yet revealed when they plan to get married.
