Michelle “Puppy” Deaton is speaking out about the recent death of her friend, former girlfriend and fellow ‘Love After Lockup’ star, Amber Eggers.
As The Ashley told you last week, Amber’s family confirmed on social media that the former We TV star had died from acute liver failure. She was only 41 years old.
After the news of Amber’s death began circulating online, many ‘Love After Lockup’ and ‘Life After Lockup’ fans began wondering on social media if Puppy– who was Amber’s former prison “bunkie” and close friend– was aware of what happened to Amber and if so, how she was handling the tragic news given the pair’s history.
On Monday, @kikiandkibbitz and @merrypants on Instagram posted a joint statement from Puppy, Amber’s friend Cacedra “Queen” Robertson, and Amber’s ex-boyfriend and longtime friend Hank, with the three assuring fans that they are comforting one another in the wake of Amber’s death.
“We are together during this incredibly difficult time, leaning on and supporting each other as we grieve our dear Amber’s passing,” the trio’s statement read. “We have seen all of the beautiful comments, memories and tributes being shared in her honor and we appreciate every single one.
“Thank you for all the love, kindness and support you have all shown us and everyone who loved Amber,” they continued. “Love – Queen, Puppy and Hank.”
Last week, Amber’s mom, Monica Eggers, told TMZ that Amber passed away Thursday night in an Atlanta, Georgia, hospital after being admitted days earlier. Monica claimed that doctors were unable to keep Amber’s heart beating any longer, while confirming that Amber had died from acute liver failure.
Last year, Amber was hospitalized with severe pneumonia and a bacterial infection in her blood. This series of health issues led Amber’s sister Erin Eggers to launch a GoFundMe, telling fans at the time that Amber was receiving “life-saving care” that was creating an “overwhelming financial strain” on their family.
The online fundraiser remained open months after Amber was discharged from the hospital, however, it has since been removed from the website in the wake of Amber’s death. The last update provided by Erin on May 27, 2025, stated that Amber had been moved out of the ICU and would be starting physical therapy to help her regain her ability to walk.
In July of this year, Amber revealed to followers on Facebook that she had spent time in the ICU once again, this time after allegedly suffering a mini-stroke.
