Amber Eggers of We TV’s ‘Love After Lockup’ has died, just days after the 41-year-old was admitted to the hospital for liver failure.
According to Starcasm, the news of Amber’s death was first reported by @merrypants and @kikiandkibbitz on Instagram, and has since been confirmed by multiple members of Amber’s family.
“Amber was admitted to the hospital on Tuesday, Sept. 1st with liver failure,” the joint-Instagram post read. “The doctors did everything they could, but in the end, her body just couldn’t keep fighting.”
The post goes on to note that Amber suffered a series of health issues last year, which had left the former reality star on life support for a period of time.
Last summer, Amber’s sister Erin Eggers launched a GoFundMe after Amber was hospitalized with severe pneumonia and a bacterial infection in her blood. Erin explained in the description for the fundraiser that her sister was receiving “life-saving care” that was creating an “overwhelming financial strain” on their family.
The online fundraiser remains open, with the last update on May 27, 2025, stating that Amber had been moved out the ICU and would be starting physical therapy to help her regain the ability to walk.
In addition to the severe health issues Amber faced in 2025, Amber revealed on Facebook in July of this year that she had spent time in the ICU once again, this time after suffering a mini-stroke.
On Friday, Amber’s mom, Monica Eggers, told TMZ that Amber passed away Thursday night in an Atlanta, Georgia, hospital after being admitted earlier this week. Monica claimed that doctors were unable to keep Amber’s heart beating any longer, while confirming that Amber had died from acute liver failure.

‘Love After Lockup’ fans may remember Amber from Season 2 of the series, on which she appeared with then-boyfriend Vincent “Vince” Gonzalez. Amber and Vince began their relationship while Amber was behind bars serving a four-year prison sentence for drug trafficking. The two went on to get engaged following Amber’s release.

While Amber and Vince’s relationship ultimately ended, Amber and her former cellmate/girlfriend Michelle “Puppy” Deaton both appeared on future ‘Love After Lockup’ season, as well as the franchise spinoff, ‘Life After Lockup.’

Puppy has yet to comment publicly on Amber’s death.

I saw this last night and hoped it wasn’t true. I always rooted for Amber. She seemed like a sweetheart and really tried to change. She worked steadily and if I remember right got promoted very soon after being hired. I think she inevitably had a problem with alcohol which is sad. Her body just couldn’t take anymore.😢
I am worried about how Puppy will take the news. It seemed like Amber was the one that grounded Puppy and helped her when Puppy’s decisions got her in trouble.
R.I.P Amber🕊️🙏🏼
