Jenelle Evans‘ lawyer is peacing out on her multiple open court cases in North Carolina.
The Ashley can exclusively reveal that Brandon Pettijohn officially notified the court on Friday that he wants to remove himself as the ‘Teen Mom’ star’s trusty attorney for both of her custody cases. Brandon— whom Jenelle stated she found on TikTok— is the attorney Jenelle has used in both her custody fight against her mom and ex over her son Jace, and her divorce from David Eason.
On Friday, Brandon filed two motions to “Withdraw as Counsel” for both civil cases. In the motion, he asked that the court allow him and his law firm to “withdraw as attorneys of record, for good cause.”
Although he didn’t specify what that “good cause” is, there are several reasons an attorney could file to withdraw as a person’s counsel. These include non-payment of legal fees, a conflict of interest, a leave of absence for the attorney, or lack of communication between the client and the attorney, to name a few. It does not appear that he is taking time off from work, though, as he is scheduled to be the attorney in other cases up until at least the end of the year.
(One source close to Jenelle tells The Ashley that she’s “having money problems at the moment”; however, they did not state if this was the reason her lawyer is dropping her.)

Anyway, a date has been set for October 5 in the Jenelle/David divorce case for Brandon’s motion to withdraw to be discussed in court.
He is also dropping out of Jenelle’s custody case for Jace. Jenelle, her mom Barbara (who is currently caring for the teen) and Jace’s dad Andrew Lewis were all due to meet in court earlier this week, but Jenelle filed for yet another continuance. (This is the fourth time the case has been continued this year, by the way.)
Despite the continuance, The Ashley can confirm that Barbara’s attorney was present at the hearing that was supposed to be held on September 9. (Jenelle’s lawyer was not there.) It was decided that the hearing regarding Jace’s custody situation would be reset for November 9.

As The Ashley previously told you, Jace is currently living with Barbara again, and Andrew has been able to get the visitation with his son that he desired, so there’s not much more to do in the case. (Jace turns 18 in August 2027.) In August, Jace went Live on social media to give an update on his life in North Carolina since Barb took over care of him.
“My grandma, she’s doing pretty good…I’m over here just living my life….” he said. “Everyone was happy to have me back home. I’ve been doing my best.”
As of press time, Jenelle has not notified the court that another lawyer will be replacing Brandon in either case.

Stay tuned…
