Janelle Brown Slams Ex-Husband Kody for Insincere “Apology Tour” & for “Stirring the Pot” Before ‘Sister Wives’ Exit: “A Final F-You”

Despite not appearing on the new season of ‘Sister Wives’, Kody Brown managed to get flak from each of his ex-wives on Sunday’s season premiere, with Janelle in particular calling out her former spouse for wreaking havoc before exiting the TLC series.

As The Ashley previously reported, Kody and his only remaining wife Robyn opted not to film for Season 21, though the husband and wife have yet to explain the reason behind their decision. Meanwhile, Season 21 kicked off yesterday with Janelle, Meri and Christine reacting to the news of Kody and Robyn’s exit, as well as recalling their last on-camera interactions with Kody.

For Janelle, she reflected on Kody’s highly criticized ex-wife apology tour, during which the former polygamist traveled across the country to deliver face-to-face apologies to each of his ex-wives for his past behavior.

Although Janelle and Kody’s interaction ended on a positive note last season, Janelle revealed on Sunday’s episode that her feelings about the exchange have since changed.

“I feel like the apology tour was, in the end, something [Kody] was trying to redeem himself with,” Janelle told viewers. “And I don’t think it was necessarily that sincere because there’s been no contact since then.”

Janelle then went on to accuse Kody of “very publicly [torpedoing] [her] character” at the Season 20 Tell-All by alleging that she attempted to do a “backdoor deal” with him behind Meri’s back when selling the family’s Coyote Pass property.

“ … f**k him,” Janelle said of her ex-husband.

During Sunday’s episode, Janelle vented to Christine about the claims Kody made last season, sarcastically calling the “[made] up story” about her going behind Meri’s back “a parting gift” from their mutual ex.

“This accusation not only felt very personal, like a final F-you as he was leaving,” Janelle stated. “But everyone is believing him and Meri’s even like, ‘I don’t know.’ I’m like, ‘What the hell?’”

Although Janelle insisted that Kody’s claims about the alleged backdoor deal were “not true,” Meri maintained that she wasn’t sure who to believe. After acknowledging that she and Janelle “are not best friends,” she went on to note that there could be things that Janelle has held back from her.

In an effort to clear up the confusion, Meri and Janelle agreed to sit down for a conversation, during which Janelle accused Kody of “stirring the pot” months after Coyote Pass was sold. (As The Ashley previously reported, the Browns ultimately sold Coyote Pass for $1.5 million in April 2025, with each party– Janelle, Meri, Kody and Robyn– receiving $375,000 from the sale.)

“I’m like, ‘Leave it alone,’” Janelle said to Meri. “But [Kody] just can’t help himself.”

After Meri shared with Janelle the accusations that Kody made regarding the Coyote Pass deal, Janelle refuted the claims and revealed what Kody had actually suggested to her.

“He [said] all these things about, ‘Maybe I’ll just sell and I’ll hold some money in reserve for Meri … so when she basically does what I want her to do, I’ll give her the money,’” Janelle recalled, as reported by Us Weekly. “There was so much threatening … I’m still kind of stunned, Meri.”

As the conversation continued, Meri later admitted to Janelle that she was still confused by the whole situation; however, Janelle assured her that she was “not trying to cut [her] out of the deal.” While Meri and Janelle seemingly ended their interaction on good terms, Meri revealed to viewers that she still wasn’t sure who was telling the truth.

“I’m not taking a side with Janelle or Kody or Robyn, because to be honest with you, every single one of us in humanity will tell our stories to make us look better,” she said.
