Cory Wharton is speaking out about his split from longtime girlfriend and baby mama Taylor Selfridge, a breakup the ‘Teen Mom’ dad insists was “very mutual.”
As The Ashley told you earlier this week, ‘The Challenge’ star took to Instagram on Thursday to announce that he and Taylor– who share daughters Mila and Maya– had “decided to go [their] separate ways” after nearly 10 years together.
In his post, Cory– who also shares daughter Ryder with Cheyenne Floyd– made a point to apologize to Taylor for the mistakes he made throughout their relationship, acknowledging that there were times he “could’ve been better.”
Shortly after Cory revealed Thursday that he and Taylor had finally called it quits, Taylor went on to confirm the split in a statement posted to her Instagram Story.
“Yes, I left,” she wrote. “I was sick of not getting basic respect from the person I was with for 9 years and the father of my two children. I’m sure everyone could tell the last few years. I deserve more than that and I’ll get it. End of story.”
Later on, Taylor returned to social media to address the breakup further, during which she revealed to followers that Cory had announced their split without giving her a heads up, and after specifically asking her not to announce the news herself. Unsurprisingly, Cory then took to his own Instagram Story to seemingly address Taylor’s claims, while insisting that the two didn’t have “an ugly breakup.”
“If one party wants to make it look like it was this and that, that’s fine,” Cory said, as reported by Us Weekly. “It wasn’t. It was a very mutual thing. ‘OK, it’s time to split. This isn’t working for us. We’ve struggled for two years on making this thing work.’ I want nothing but the best for Taylor. … It’s time to heal. It’s time to move on. There’s no reason to just let this thing linger around. It was time.”

While Cory was seemingly defending his post on Thursday, he admitted Friday on Snapchat that he regretted not telling Taylor before posting the news of their breakup to social media. However, he also argued that Taylor knew he planned to announce their split sometime this week. Still, the father of three assured followers that he won’t be taking to social media to “disrespect Taylor,” and even revealed that they “had a good talk” following Thursday’s events.
“We gotta deal with each other for life,” he said. “We share two beautiful daughters together, [and] my daughter Ryder … Taylor’s been in her life ever since she was, like, 8 months old, so their relationship is close too. I’m not gonna hold Ryder back from seeing Taylor … you guys know me … .”
Cory went on to assure fans that his three daughters will continue to see each other on a regular basis as well, as his parenting schedule with Taylor will line up with the existing schedule he has with Cheyenne. Per that plan, Cory said he will have Ryder, Mila and Maya with him every week, Friday through Monday.
As for his and Taylor’s post-breakup living situation, Cory explained to fans that he’ll remain in the home that he and Taylor built because he pays for it and because it’s in his name. While Taylor has already moved out of said home, Cory said he assumed they’d continue living under the same roof into next year– a scenario he claims he would’ve been completely fine with.

“I’m not mad about [Taylor finding an apartment], I’m super happy for Taylor,” he said. “She found a place that she felt comfortable in and, yeah, my daughters love it over there, it’s a safe spot … .”
While wrapping up his Q&A on Snapchat, Cory denied being happy about his and Taylor’s breakup, though he maintains that it was a long time coming.

“A question I see is like, ‘Why are you so happy?’ You guys, we’ve been separated for like a month, and before that, [for] two years we were going through it,” Cory explained. “I was crying on my trips to Asia and to my dad, [to] my brothers, to Nelson [Thomas], like, they all know those tears. They saw those tears for years, you know what I mean? This isn’t something that’s new.
“I think that’s why me and [Taylor] can get past it so easy, is because it’s been such a struggle for so long,” he added.

That man is more full of crap than a clogged gas station toilet. Taylor definitely dumped him and now he’s trying to save face. He still wanted to live together for a year to see if he can convince her to get back together with him. Good for her for finally putting herself and her daughters first. Sometimes it takes a while to come to your senses and Taylor deserves praise for finally accepting her situation with Cory for what it is and doing something about it. I hope she finds someone one day who values her in a way Cory never did.
He also screwed up by disrespecting her so publicly. A woman with daughters gets to a place where they finally realize it’s not about them, it’s about what you were showing those little girls they should accept.
