Cory Wharton has kicked off his apology tour after the latest episode of ‘The Challenge: Cutthroat’ showed the father of three trying to have sex with castmate Izzy Fairthorne, despite being in a “situationship” with his baby mama Taylor Selfridge.
On Thursday, Cory took to Twitter with his tail between his legs to own up to his on-camera actions, telling fans he wasn’t “proud” of what he saw on the show this week. This apology came just days after Cory tweeted (and then deleted) that the show’s editors were purposely trying to make him look like a “villain.”
After the episode, Cory changed his tune and apologized for his behavior.
“So I just wanna say this quick, I’ve apologized to the person who needed to hear it the most,” Cory said, referring to Taylor. “I’m gonna continue to handle things behind closed doors. It’s been a very long time since I haven’t been proud of who I see on camera and this is one of those times.
“I’m not trying to make excuses,” he continued. “I’m not trying to put the blame on anybody but myself. I’m a big boy. I knew what I was doing. I didn’t handle myself appropriate for the situation because the harm that it’s causing the people around me.”
“A lot of the times when you’re in the spotlight it’s bigger than you and I lost sight of that,” Cory concluded his apology. “I was selfish and being a narcissist. And I apologize I’ll get better. I’ll seek therapy & continue to be a loving present father to my daughters.”
Viewers have watched this season as Cory and Izzy have engaged in some heavy flirtation, with Cory claiming that he came into ‘The Challenge’ house unsure of where his relationship with Taylor stood.
On one particular episode, he admitted during a video call with Cheyenne Floyd– the mother of his oldest daughter– that there were “definitely some things that have to be discussed” once he returned home from filming, referring to his interactions with Izzy. Cory also joked that he might not have a home to return to, as he and Taylor live together with their daughters.
On this week’s episode, Cory upped the ante by trying to convince Izzy to have sex with him, despite his complicated situation back home.
The ‘Teen Mom’ dad made the inappropriate offer shortly after he and Izzy snuck off to have a private conversation about their obvious connection and how it was testing their “self-discipline.” Izzy told Cory she believed the two could get to a place where they’re “close, but friends,” though Cory said he was unsure he could do that. As the conversation went on, Cory suggested that the two go bang it out in a gazebo.

“Or we just say, ‘f**k it,’ and go in that gazebo,” he said, to which Izzy replied, “That’s possibly the worst game plan.”
While Izzy laughed off Cory’s comment, the camera then showed the two getting touchy on the stairs, followed by Izzy whispering to Cory, “stop, I can’t.”
“We could,” he replied.
After the episode aired, Taylor posted a video of herself making a (rightfully) disgusted face while watching TV. In a follow-up video, she recorded herself in the gym, informing followers that she was working up a sweat “instead of crashing out.”
Taylor went on to hint at her baby daddy’s disrespectful behavior again before sharing her thoughts on this week’s ‘Love Island USA’ Season 8 reunion.
“All right, you know what I’m gonna talk about to avoid my own stuff?” Taylor said on Snapchat. “[The] ‘Love Island’ reunion.”

While Cory took accountability on Thursday for his gross gazebo remarks, he was singing a much different tune before this week’s episode aired. On Monday, the zero-time ‘Challenge’ champ seemingly attempted to get ahead of the inevitable fallout by blaming the show’s editors.
“I’m about to go off about the next episode of ‘The Challenge,’ I’m about to air everything out,” Cory wrote. “They want make me look like a villain they wanna make it look like something happened when it didn’t ok bet THAT!”
Cory’s buddy, Nelson Thomas, however, did stick up for Cory on X after the episode aired. (‘Challenge’ fans saw that Nelson had actually gone to Izzy and asked her to leave Cory alone, due to his complicated situation at home.)
“I have to speak up because I know how this looks on TV, and I’m not saying it’s a good look,” Nelson wrote. “Nothing physical ever happened between cory and Izzy. I’m not making excuses for anybody. I don’t want people judging the whole situation based on an edit without knowing the full story.”

UPDATE! After Cory posted his apology on Thursday, Taylor commented about the situation on her Snapchat.
“I just feel like people want me to crash out,” Taylor said. “They want to see what I have to say; they wanna see the drama. I get it. I’d wanna see it too. But, I’m trying to use my brain and, yeah, I’m just trying to use my brain.”
She then went on to do a mock Izzy’s accent.
“If I hear the word f**king ‘magnet’ or ‘We’re not doing anything wrong, we’re not crossing a line’ I swear— I swear I’m gonna rip my f**king hair out!” Taylor said.

I really liked Corey until I saw him on the “Family Reunion” episodes of “Teen Mom” and it only took about 15 seconds of his obnoxious behavior for me to completely change my mind. Now, I just want to smack him each time I see anything about him. This just makes me want to do it even more. I know how it feels to be in a relationship where your self esteem is constantly being lowered (but I didn’t have kids with that person) so I can kind of understand why Taylor has not left him yet.
