Jenelle Evans recently gave fans an update on what’s been happening in her son Jace’s life since he went back to live with her mom Barbara several months ago.
The fired ‘Teen Mom’ star discussed her 17-year-old’s current activities in North Carolina, stating that, while he does have a job, he apparently has his sights on TV and Internet fame. Jenelle also stated that she plans to “coach” Jace as to how to make money off his existing notoriety.
“Jace is doing good,” Jenelle said. “He is living with my mom.”
During a TikTok Live, Jenelle— who recently dropped her lawyer in the custody court fight against Barbara and Jace’s dad Andrew Lewis— insisted that she wasn’t the reason that her attempts to have Jace live with her failed miserably. Instead, she blamed Jace’s issues with his half-siblings Kaiser and Ensley, who still live with Jenelle in Florida.
“I know a lot of you guys are like, ‘Oh my God, it’s because he doesn’t want to be with you’ or ‘Oh, because no one wants him to be there,'” Jenelle said. “Well, Jace is used to growing up kind of like a single child because, you know, [he was] living with my mom. And then coming to my house every weekend.”
(As ‘Teen Mom’ fans know, Jace lived with Barbara until he was 14 years old but visited Jenelle regularly. Barbara signed over custody of Jace to Jenelle in 2023, but Jace frequently ran away from Jenelle’s Little Swamp of Horror home on The Land and later accused Jenelle’s then-husband David Eason of strangling him.)
Anyway, Jenelle stated that Jace couldn’t adjust to living in a house with a brother and sister.
“When I got custody and the dynamic of him coming into a household with two other siblings, things just didn’t— and I’m not going into details— but it just did not work out and I tried and tried and tried,” she said. “And my mom tried for years. And, just, like, his mental health got the best of him,”
Jenelle let her followers know that Jace gave her permission to talk about him.
“I have already spoken to Jace,” she said. “Jace is OK with me speaking about this, because now he’s over it and now he knows he needed the help he got.”
Jenelle also addressed her decision to send Jace off to multiple mental health facilities and troubled youth camps earlier this year.
“He knows he needed it and he’s doing much better now,” she said.
Jenelle stated that Jace is currently working at a restaurant but has his eye on being famous.
“He works at a family-owned business and they love him there. But he is wanting to— he’s asking me about TV!” Jenelle said. “Y’all, he does not want to work a normal job!”
“But he’s worked for the restaurant— and he still works for the restaurant— he’s worked for them for like two years. …he does love the people there and stuff but he wants to do more to make more [money],” Jenelle said. “He’s more motivated now to actually do things.
“And I said, ‘Well, honestly, Jace everyone knows you online and if you just start making the right videos and the right content, people want to hear from you.'”
Jenelle stated that she plans to share with Jace her vast knowledge of how to make money without doing much.
“So I think I’m gonna start coaching him with social media and how to get monetized and everything,” she said.
Jenelle then revealed that she and Jace are teaming up on a “merch” line for him.
“So that will be coming out soon. So, I hope you guys go buy it and you better be nice because I think he’s going to put his own original drawings on there,” Jenelle said.
As The Ashley told you earlier this week, it appears that Jace will be staying at Barbara’s for the foreseeable future, despite a court date still being on the books for November 9 for his custody case. The lawyers for Barbara, Jenelle and Andrew have all filed to withdraw from the case, which a source told The Ashley basically signifies that the case is about to be dropped.
“There’s nothing more for them to fight in court about,” the source said. “Jace is home with Barbara and Jenelle has accepted it and is allowing him to remain there without a fight. She has no intention of bringing Jace to Florida.
“Unless something drastic occurs between now and November 9, the court will almost certainly close the case,” the source added.
In August, Jace went Live on social media to give an update on his life in North Carolina since Barb took over care of him.
“My grandma, she’s doing pretty good…I’m over here just living my life….” he said. “Everyone was happy to have me back home. I’ve been doing my best.”
