Andrew Lewis— the father of Jenelle Evans‘ eldest son Jace— is speaking out, days after Jenelle took to social media to give an “update” on Jace in which she vowed she “will not give up” on the teen.
According to Andrew, though, Jenelle’s “update” and the photos of Jace she posted along with it are Jenelle’s way of covering up what’s really going on with Jace. In the photos, Jace is shown at the wilderness camp Jenelle sent him to earlier this year, but Andrew claims Jace isn’t even there anymore and hasn’t been for over a month!
After Jenelle’s posted the update on Jace, The Ashley reached out to Andrew, who responded to a request for comment.
“Jenelle is posting these old photos of Jace from months ago and he’s not even there anymore,” Andrew told The Ashley. “It’s all fake. He got into a fight and was sent to a facility in another state.”
(As ‘Teen Mom’ fans are aware, Jace has been in and out of various facilities over the past few years. Andrew is currently fighting Jenelle for custody of Jace, who turns 17 in August. Jenelle’s mother, Barbara, is also part of the custody fight.)
Andrew also disputed Jenelle claim that she’s “had countless nights of crying over the past six months” over Jace’s situation.
“I want him to be happy and will do whatever it takes to help him mentally and physically,” Jenelle wrote. “As his mother I WILL NOT give up.”
“She says she’s been crying at night about Jace, but she’s really in bed with [her ex-husband] David Eason!” Andrew stated, before going on to claim that Jenelle changed her phone number and has therefore been unreachable for him.
“You don’t even respond to your own lawyer about Jace, the kid you’re supposedly ‘crying’ over all the time,” Andrew said in a message to Jenelle.
Andrew— whose medical insurance has been paying for Jace’s care, despite him having no say in where Jace was sent— also claimed that Jenelle is in somewhat of a pickle currently, as she needs to figure out where Jace can go next.
“My insurance won’t cover [the facility] anymore so now Jenelle wants to ship him somewhere else,” Andrew stated. “He’s been shuffled around, it’s revolving door syndrome. He doesn’t have a steady doctor. There have been so many different doctors treating him and it’s very confusing for him.”
While Barb has filed for primary custody of Jace (with Andrew filing for secondary), Andrew stated that he doesn’t believe it’s a good idea for Jace to return to Barbara’s home after his release.
“He has a family here with me and he just wants to come home,” Andrew said, adding that he would not restrict Jace from being around Jenelle or Barbara.
“They blame it on Jace’s mental issues but they’re the ones who don’t realize that they are the problem and have the mental issues,” Andrew added.
According to Andrew, Jace will be discharged from his current location very soon, but can’t go to live with Jenelle.
“She would have to kick David out of her home,” he said.
(As The Ashley has previously reported, David is not legally allowed to be around Jace, as David currently has pending criminal charges against him for assault by strangulation and child abuse, stemming from a 2023 incident with Jace. There is currently a no-contact order in place preventing David from being near Jace.)
“She would have to choose Jace over David and that’s not going to happen,” Andrew said. “So she has to figure out where to send Jace.”
Andrew stated that he is fighting to have Jace come to live with him, and claims to have everything in place for Jace.
“He’s got me. I have a whole program for his health and medical care lined up and fully covered by my employer,” Andrew said. “But they’ve tossed it aside. I have a home to take him into, a loving family who wants to be around Jace and career opportunities for him, should he decided to take them. The last time I spoke to Jace, he wanted to be a chef.”
“He needs to stop being sent all over the place and have a steady home for once,” Andrew added.
As The Ashley previously reported, Andrew, Barbara and Jenelle are all set to go head-to-head in court next month, where they will address the custody situation, as well as the contempt of court charges that Andrew and/or Barb want Jenelle to be charged with for violating the existing custody order. That hearing has been scheduled for September 9.

A sad part of this situation is that if Jenelle had faced real consequences for her actions and gone to jail, Jace wouldn’t have to put up with this. Jenelle wouldn’t have been able to spend his entire childhood lying to him about Barbara “stealing” him and he probably wouldn’t have acted out the way he did. The courts giving her chance after change gave her the opportunity to abuse her children.

Why have Barb and Andrew allowed the continuances in court to occur? Can’t their lawyers tell the judge they’re tired of stalling? Every time they extend it, the Ashley reports thag it was agreed by all parties. So, why agree to it?
I can shed some light on that. I was involved in a long, drawn-out custody battle with a woman who played games with the courts like Jenelle. The lawyers run the show. This is their way of dragging things out and running up the bill. One time we showed up and, without telling me, my lawyer had already agreed to postpone. Because my lawyer who represented me, and the other lawyer who represented the other side came to the agreement, it went on record that all parties agreed to the postponement. Another time the other person’s lawyer just unexpectedly didn’t show up without notifying her. Again we were postponed. Then the next time we went to court, my lawyer unexpectedly didn’t show up without notifying me. We postponed again. It’s a filthy game the lawyers play because they really don’t want to be bothered fighting for their client. They just want a nice, big, cushy fee for their fuckery.
I’m sorry that you had to go through that. There should be limitations on that kind of nonsense.

I mean I just feel like Andrew is the best bet at this point. Seems like he has matured some and is genuinely interested in Jace. Barbara is exhausted and Janelle is a horrible pos. Just let Jace live the rest of his childhood years with his dad, let them figure it out.
Sounds like she is shopping for a diagnosis to get Eason out of his charges next month. I truly do not understand what is taking so long with Eason’s charges or for the court to decide/hear who Jace wants to live with – the age varies but as young as 11 th court will consider the child’s wishes on who they want to live with so being he is 17 now…what the hell is the hold up in NC?
She’s probably hoping he turns 18 before it hits the courtroom, then she can just wash her hands of him. All for a piece of garbage

I read on Yahoo the bullshit interview that she did, talking about how “amazing” Jace is doing at his facility and how she will do “ANYTHING for his mental health issues.” Sure Jenelle. Like the way you took him off of his medication from day one when he came to live with you and your psycho boyfriend? I wrote that in the comment section on yahoo also, because people were commenting all kinds of shit talk about “what a psycho the kid must be if he tried to kill his grandmother.” I commented back that this was not the correct information about the incident with Barb, but people are too stupid to read properly. It was constant sympathy for Jenelle and trash talk for Jace. It pisses me off so bad that the lying bitch-whore Jenelle gets away with all of her lies and trashes her own kid in the media, yet the judge will probably give her custody just because she’s the mother!! And since she won’t kick the abuser out of her home, she will simply send Jace back to a mental institution!! Why can’t the stupid judge see what she’s doing? Jenelle doesn’t even have a job! At least Andrew does! Why can’t he just go to his dad and let them try to repair Jace’s life without sending him to crazy places where who knows what goes on. Jenelle claimed in the Yahoo story that she “worked so hard to find a completely holistic, naturopathic treatment facility for Jace.” Great Jenelle because we all know that unless it involves pot, booze or heroin, YOU won’t approve it!! When will child services see through this bitch? When will her poor kids EVER be saved!
I commented on People Magazine that Barb reported there was never a gun and no gun was found when police arrived. That’s the info I believe from Barb, not Jenelle whom always wants to escalate situations with misinformation.

Jenelle is a perfect model for actions mean more than words I thibk Jenelle has a personality disorder that prevents her from self examination. She obly cares about herself and whoever she’s currently sharing a bed with. All of her kids are going to be seriously messed up mentally. I hope Jace soon learns that she’s not worth his time or attention. Grieve the person you wished your parent war because she’ll never make her kids top priority in her life. With hard work he can get to a place where if she dies he’ll celebrate the death, not morn. My dad dies a few week ago. I didn’t celebrate my mother’s death but I didn’t mourn either. I kept wondering why I felt nothing, but deep down I knew it’s because my mother despised me. She was awful to me. She beat on me, humiliated me every chance she got, and did everything in her power to turn people against me by making up lies about things I supposedly did. When I was a young kid she beat me one day for something my younger sister did — and she knew the younger one did it. I asked her why and she said because I was older and should have stopped her. Then I asked her “don’t you love me?” and she got right in my face and screamed “NO, I DON’T! I can’t stand the sight of you!” It crushed my soul. She died on my birthday. I didn’t celebrate, but no, I didn’t mourn.

Andrew had his chance before all of this happened and couldn’t even last more than a few weeks in the role of primary caregiver. Like it or not, Barbara is the only one who has loved and cared for Jace since birth and is the best choice to take him in until he turns 18, with Andrew having visitation and/or a small portion of custody for times when he and Barb need a breather from each other.
Jenelle deserves zero custody of all three of her kids. Furthermore, she should have to answer for ALL of her abuse, illegal actions, lies, and manipulations regarding her relationship with David and overall neglect of the kids.
Andrew has definitely matured and gotten sober. Jenelle recently posted a screenshot of texts with Andrew while Jace was in the first facility (Jenelle was in Vegas). Jenelle was pissed because the facility wouldn’t allow her to visit Jace, but Andrew was participating in regular family therapy sessions with Jace. Andrew’s insurance from his job was paying for the treatment. Jenelle was irate because Andrew was allowed to do family therapy and have visits with Jace but she wasn’t. That tells me a whole lot right there. It tells me that (A) Andrew is working a real job, (B) Andrew has been working on his own issues, and (C) Andrew was sincerely concerned about his son and was making strides to heal and grow the relationship between them.
Andrew told Jenelle that she had to start individual weekly therapy & send a statement from the therapist that she had, indeed, been participating in therapy before she would be allowed to join the family therapy sessions. I get it. He just wanted to make sure that she was starting to work on herself before she came in and started shit during family therapy. Jenelle wouldn’t have it. She got really pissed and pulled Jace out of that facility. Jenelle never gave a shit about any of her kids or their well-being. Its all a game to her. It was fine and dandy for her to demand a psych eval on David before he was allowed to see Ensley, but when the tables get turned, she goes all apeshit. She’s a monster and someday I hope she gets exactly what’s coming to her.
We knew Andrew was working a real job because he has had Jace on his health insurance (if he was on low income insurance, Jenelle would have said something a long time ago). Andrew was also paying child support for years to Barbara, prior to Jenelle even getting custody back.
I hope things go Jace’s way for once. David needs locked away for a very long time. Jenelle too!
Given his history, I take everything Andrew says with a grain of salt, but unlike Jenelle, he apparently has a job and allegedly actually wants to be in Jace’s life without alternating him from his mother’s side of the family. Despite my better judgement, I’m gonna give him a very cautious benefit of the doubt. I just hope for Jace’s sake Andrew really is in a stable spot and can give him the support he needs so he doesn’t go down a bad path. Poor kid doesn’t stand a chance if he doesn’t have at least one parental figure with their life together.
Exactly. Jace only lasted two weeks with Andrew the only time he lived with him. No doubt the shuffling around is very hard on him, especially with the mental health care. Building trust with a provider is a part of treatment.
But was he removed because of Andrew or because of his “mother” . We saw what happened with Kaiser when he went to his grandma. Jenelle swooped in shortly after and took him back. IMO that’s probably what happened with Andrew as well.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but didnt Jace get sent to live with Andrew so Jenelle didnt have to pay for his group home/institution? Jace has been shuffled around so much it’s honestly hard to keep track of.
