EXCLUSIVE! Hearing for Custody of Jenelle Evans’ Son Jace Postponed; Update on Court Battle

“Well Juh-nelle, I’ll see ya in court!”

The fight for custody of Jenelle Evans‘ eldest son Jace continues, but The Ashley can exclusively reveal that the court hearing has been rescheduled yet again.

As The Ashley previously told you, Jenelle was set to go head-to-head with Jace’s dad Andrew Lewis and mom Barbara back in May to decide if Jenelle would retain full custody of Jace. Barbara and Andrew teamed up earlier this year to fight against Jenelle, with Barb filing for primary custody of Jace, and Andrew filing for secondary. The hearing was originally set for May, then postponed to July and was recently reset again, this time for September.

It appears that all three parties— Barb, Jenelle and Andrew— agreed to the rescheduled hearing, and all parties have been notified that they are to be present in the courtroom on September 9.

“Oh I’ll be there all right! Ya gotta pull Juh-nelle away from David and their happy family picnic, though!”

While it is unknown if Jace will be present in court, it’s possible that the court hearing could have been rescheduled so that Jace could appear and voice his opinion as to where he wants to live. (By the time of the September 9 court hearing, Jace will be 17 years old.)

As The Ashley has previously reported, Jenelle sent Jace to a camp for troubled teens back in March. At the time, she refused to tell Barb or Andrew where she had placed Jace (but they eventually found out). In May, Jenelle posted photos of herself with Jace at the camp during a “family day”— much to the dismay of Andrew, who called her out for “exploiting” Jace for attention.

Although Jace’s situation has changed since then, it will soon have to be determined where he will go once he leaves his current location. As fans know, Jenelle is currently letting her ex-husband-turned-current-boooooooyfriendDavid Eason, shack up with her. This means that Jace would be unable to go back to living with Jenelle unless Jenelle gives Big Davey the boot, due to the fact that David is not allowed to have any contact with Jace, due to the child abuse charges currently pending against David. (Don’t ya hate when that happens?)

“Even if the kid did move back here, he wouldn’t see me because I’d be at work all the time. Oh…wait.”

Anyway, the hearing on September 9 will also address motions filed against Jenelle earlier this year by Barbara and/or Andrew. Back in April, one (or both) of them filed a “Motion to Show Cause” against Jenelle, stating that they believe Jenelle violated an order of the court involving Jace. Jenelle will have to explain to the court why she should not be held in contempt of the custody court order.

According to court records obtained by The Ashley at the time the motion was filed, Barbara and/or Andrew have also filed an exhibit to show proof that Jenelle has allegedly violated the court order.

In other court news, David’s jury trial for his child abuse/assault by strangulation charges (which stem from an incident in 2023 when the then-14-year-old Jace stated that David strangled him) is also approaching. Mr. Jenelle Evans is set to stand trial starting on August 24.

Jenelle recently denied that the incident ever took place.

Stay tuned…

  1. Well no matter what she can’t make the charge go away against her man for assaulting HER CHILD. I have to believe that the fact she openly mocks the court with that restrining order and publicly admittting they are together and have been all this time will come up in that hearing or at least another one because how is that not already an issue in the court?

  2. I understand about all of the things that Jenelle has done, and she was wrong. As for Barbara, she has a terrible way of raising Jace. She was always asking Jace about how the visit was with Jenelle and more. As an adult, you do not put children in the middle of the battle. This is called parent alienation. I know that Barb took care of Jace when Jenelle was not being a good parent. In my opinion, Jace has not been raised around love. I give no credit to Barbara. She hates all of Jenelle’s boyfriends and then she sides with them to go against Jenelle. What kind of mother calls her own daughter a FXXXIN bitch on national T.V. Andrew has no right to put any charges against Jenelle because he was NEVER AROUND‼️ Poor Jace has not had a good upbringing at all. Everyone is at fault. Jace even admitted years ago that he lied. Barb only wants to get money from the show because she has made no effort to try and work things out with her own daughter. In the beginning, Barb was only supposed to have part time custody until Jenelle got better. Barb has flipped everything around. How do you think that part of Jenelle’s anger issues aren’t from the way Barb raised her? I feel terrible for Jace because he hasn’t been raised around the most loving home that he deserved. As far as Jenelle & David, they could be trying to co-parent better than in the past. Everyone has not been the best example for Jace to grow up as.

  3. I remember Janelle’s first season where, days after giving birth to Jace, she was out partying. She always claims to have wanted him, but she’s left him countless times. She’s full of crap, she was always full of crap, and if she gave one crap about Jace, she would just let him live with Barbara, which was the only stable home this child has ever known. It only became toxic when Janelle showed up to play mommy for about 5 minutes and then left again, usually screaming, “Leave me allllloooooone!” or heading out to a party, or to meet a guy, or to get high. Absolute loser of a human.

  4. Jace just needs to “wait out the clock” until he turns 18yrs old. Judges probably already look at him as an adult. IMO, one of the lowest Teen Mom incidents was when Janelle pulled a gun in the road rage incident and made Jace lie about it. When Janelle/David get into a blowout fight, I expect Tori to return to the rescue. I rarely comment on Janelle because she is so horrible.

  5. I’m surprised Jenelle agreed to postpone it until Jace can choose who he wants to live with. She knows he won’t choose her because she got back together with David. It seems like she wants him more.

    1. That’s not why she agreed to the postponement. I think she asked for it, TBH. David’s trial is in August, so she’s waiting until it’s over for several reasons: either David is found guilty and goes to jail, in which case Jace could go back to living with her because David won’t be there, or David will be acquitted and Jenelle thinks the RO will automatically be dropped so Jace has to return to her home. Either way, I hope the RO stays in place. I don’t understand why Jenelle can’t just retain legal custody and let Jace live with either Barb or Andrew? Why does she have to be such a spiteful, vindictive bitch all the time?

  6. Lol Andrew accusing Jenelle of exploitation when he has abandoned that child for the last 17 years, allowing him to be in the care of Jenelle his entire life bc he was too busy drinking, is a joke.

    1. You’re getting downvoted but you’re right. Best case scenario is that Jace ends up with Barb and Andrew can visit. At least Barb has shown she will stick around; Andrew has not. People just hate Jenelle so much that they’re throwing all their support behind Andrew when we have no idea if Jace being with him would be any better.

      1. That is exactly what Barb and Andrew are suing for. The petition specifically says that Barb will have primary custody with Andrew having secondary custody. That means that Jace would live with Barbara full time, but should something happen where she can no longer care for him, Andrew would get first decision on where Jace goes. Their petition requested visitation for both parents (even though I don’t think Jenelle should see Jace at all). If you think Jenelle is a better choice for Jace than Andrew, I think you need to take a step back and look at the big picture.

    2. This is an interesting point. The one thing I will say about Andrew is that he at least seems to show some regret for how things turned out. Jenelle, on the other hand, fully blames Jace and her mom for how things turned out. If David goes to jail for what he did to Jace, Jenelle is going to flip out on Jace and try to make him even more miserable out of revenge.

      1. The one good thing that Andrew has done, and was also reported on by the Ashley, is that he has been paying Barb child support for Jace for years.

    3. He may not have been around but he always paid child support. He’s been open about not being able to take care of Jace or be the father jace needed.
At least he’s grown as a person and changed and is trying to put Jace first now.

  7. Jenelle Evans and her child abusing, animal murdering man should both be banned from spending any unsupervised time with animals and children for the rest of their lives.

  8. Yeah, probably continued because of lieutenant Jan’s recent fake surgery. Anyone with critical thinking knows that was planned on purpose so that she could use medical reasons as an excuse to further delay legal consequences.

A fucking knee surgery for an issue many people have that doesn’t even need fixing. Rocking a knee brace and ankle boot for 2 knee stitches. I actually can’t believe we have to share the world with pieces of shit like this

    1. I’ve had multiple knee surgeries (including the one she had). There is literally no clinical reason for her to be doing what she’s doing. If anything she’s making it worse (which obviously is the goal so Swamp Thing has to take care of her & she can continue to cry for sympathy). She needs PT & to regain range of motion & to help with re-strengthening her muscles. She should also be progressively weight bearing by now.

      I just can’t with her.

  9. Everyone feels sorry for this kid now, but wait until he starts abusing people or gets arrested for his first adult felony (because he already has a juvenile record). THIS type of upbringing is what creates a career criminal. Just saying. Will yall still be wishing him well once he continues to be a criminal as an adult?

    1. If this hypothetical felony includes beating the crap out of David for everything he did to him, yes.

    2. I will be rooting for him until he’s a legal adult and if/when he proves that we shouldn’t root for him. He’s still a child.

    3. Exactly. Men like David aren’t just born. They’re brought up by people like Jenelle and David. David was an innocent child too, once upon a time.

      1. Its weird because at the beginning, I actually liked David. I feel like Janelle turned him into the a$$hole he is today. Anyone who enters into a relationship becomes toxic.

        1. No, he just knows how to fake being a good person. He has had issues with previous exes and was not allowed to see his son with previous gf for major problems he created. He is not a safe person, period. Jenelle is always desperate for a man and for someone to raise her kids for her…and her kids have and will forever pay the price. Particularly the boys ..David has been a terror to Kaisar, I watched him be awful and verbally abusive to Kaisar on the show…I can’t wait for Kaisar to grow up and be able to leave Jenelle completely and I bet he will tell the world all the horrible things David has done, David is an evil narcissistic and violent man. Jenelle is narcissistic, codependent, and protects abusers and will never grow up or take accountability, ever. Her needs will always come 1st to her and she will always lie and excuse her way through life, she has never had the ability to take accountability, true accountability…she always just blames everyone else!

    4. Well, then we should just lock him up now then, right? Maybe give the kid a chance? Must be miserable to be you.

    5. Part of rooting for him is us all praying he DOESN’T go down a road in the future where we can’t root from him anymore. Until then, we’ll keep rooting for him.

    1. Collin Gosselin stated the Marines kicked him out of boot camp due to him having a history of being in an institution.

Obviously we dont know exactly what went down, but if that is true, the military wouldn’t allow Jace to join.

I do hope Jace heals and gets far away though.

    2. He may have disqualifying conditions. For example, ADHD itself isn’t a disqualifier but medication in the prior two years or a related IEP after his 14th birthday would be. (I know he’s been on medication in the past but don’t feel like putting together a timeline).

      1. Really? My nephew is on the spectrum and has ADHD that he takes medication for every day. He enlisted in the Army and served his full 4-year obligation, including a tour in Afganistan.

        1. If he didn’t require accommodations in school past a certain age the autism diagnosis itself wouldn’t be a disqualifier. Was he on the meds when he enlisted?

        2. Recruiters know how to lie for a good recruit. I tell kids that all the time. If you’re serious about going into the military be honest with your recruiter and they’ll cover for you.

  10. My heart aches for Jace. We have seen such deep sadness in that boy since day one. He never stood a chance at normalcy. I hope age 18 brings peace to his life when he can decide what’s best for himself, whatever that looks like, for his own growth and healing.
