The tax collector hates to see the Chrisleys coming!
On Wednesday, Page Six broke the news that the IRS filed an enormous tax lien in Davidson County, Tennessee, against Todd and Julie Chrisley back in August after they failed to pay their taxes in 2021 and 2022.
According to the lien placed on them, the Chrisleys owe $142,410.72 in taxes for the period ending on December 31, 2021 and $1,429,041.89 in taxes for the period ending on December 31, 2022, totaling their debt to a whopping $1,571,452.61.
As fans know, this is not the first tax trouble for the “Chrisley Knows Best” stars.
In June 2022, Todd and Julie were convicted and sentenced to federal prison for tax evasion and bank fraud; Todd received 12 years in the clink, while Julie only received seven. President Donald Trump issued the couple a full presidential pardon in May 2025 and they reunited after being released from their respective prisons.

President Trump’s pardon wiped Julie and Todd’s slates clean of their charges of tax evasion, bank fraud, wire fraud, conspiracy, and obstruction of justice. It also excused them from serving their post-prison supervisory period and probation.
However, Trump’s pardon did not protect them from getting charged again for this specific lien, so the Chrisleys are on the hook for their $1.5 million debt and any potential legal action taken in the future.
In June, The Ashley reported that the prisoner pair was suing their former lawyer Chris Anulewicz and the law firm Balch & Bingham for legal malpractice that they say led to their eventual conviction.
The court docs allege that the Chrisleys’ attorney in their case “had no meaningful defense experience” and manipulated them into investing $75,000 into his brother-in-law’s food truck startup, using his status as their lawyer to benefit him and his family “while neglecting his duty to them” as clients.

“The result of [the lawyers’] conduct was a catastrophic, unforced error that sent two people to federal prison for crimes they would have never been convicted of had their lawyers done their job,” the lawsuit states. “The consequences of [the lawyers’] failures were catastrophic.”
“They have spent millions more in appeals and post-conviction proceedings, all of it an attempt to undo harm that a single timely motion would have prevented. A lawyer with actual criminal defense competence, supervised by a firm that took its professional obligations seriously, would never have let this happen.”
The Chrisleys have requested a jury trial and $25 million in damages.

Neither the couple nor their daughter, Savannah Chrisley, have commented on the new lien, but Todd posted a quote on his Instagram story, writing, “Gossip dies when it hits a wise person’s ears. Rumors are started by haters, carried by fools, and believed [by] idiots.”
Stay tuned…
