Update: Lifetime to (Finally!) Air ‘The Mother/Daughter Experiment’ Season 1 Finale

“I’ve been here waiting forever!”

Months after The Mother/Daughter Experiment mysteriously disappeared from the Lifetime network (and left the dozen or so people who watched it hanging), the network has announced that it will finally air the season’s missing finale! At last we will get to see if Heidi Montag & Co. could make amends with their estranged family members!

The show’s star, Dr. Debbie Magids, announced on her social media accounts last night that the ‘Mother/Daughter Experiment’ Season 1 finale will air on Tuesday, July 5 at 4 p.m. EST. (Check your local air times, though.)

Dr. Debbie told fans that she had “no clue” why the network decided to air the episode now. Last month, she announced that the finale would not air, but she was not given any more info as to why the network made that decision. The show’s producer, SallyAnn Salsano also said she had no clue what happened.

It has been rumored that the hold-up was due to legal problems with Krista Keller, one of the stars of the show. Krista, who is the mother of Courtney Stodden, reportedly threatened to sue Lifetime, as well as Sally Ann Salsano’s production company, 495 Productions, over episodes in which it was implied that she used her daughter to lure teen boys into having a relationship with her.

Multiple media outlets reported back in March that Krista sent a cease-and-desist letter to the network and the production company, threatening legal action if the episode(s) that discussed this situation aired. (It did.)

The letter also reportedly accused Lifetime and 495 Productions of having “conspired” with Krista’s estranged daughter (as well as Courtney’s husband, Doug Hutchison) to “manipulate, edit, and delete statements to alter the actual statements made on the set and to knowingly air the untruths, lies, and distortions of statements given to you by Krista Keller in good faith for this show.”

It is not known if Krista followed through with her legal threats, and The Ashley can’t confirm if the lawsuit (or threat of a lawsuit) had anything to do with the delay in airing the episode.

  1. Doesn’t Courtney have sisters? Can we please have a show with the whole family and see what they think? The dysfunction is fascinating.
