‘Teen Mom OG’ Dad Ryan Edwards Still Behind Bars: Reportedly Facing Over 11 Months In Jail Over Latest Heroin Arrest

“This is not good….”

Earlier this week, The Ashley broke the news that Teen Mom OG dad Ryan Edwards was arrested for the second time this year, after breaking his probation for a previous heroin possession charge. According to Hollywood Life, Ryan is facing major jail time, thanks to his latest run-in with the law.

“In Ryan’s case I can tell you he is facing up to 11 months and 29 days in jail just on this most-recent charge of simple heroin possession,” Nashville criminal attorney Ben Raybin told Hollywood Life. “But that’s not all because he has a prior suspended sentence as well as probation that the judge could choose to add to his sentence,.”

(Just to note here: Ben is not currently representing Ryan, and The Ashley can not confirm or deny what he is saying is correct, so please file this under “report” for now! The Ashley has reached out to Ryan’s attorney asking for confirmation of this information.)

As an attorney, Ben was able to provide more insight into Ryan’s confusing charges.

“To break it down, Ryan has the six months of probation he was sentenced to [in March 2018] as well as a suspended sentence of 11 months and 29 days stemming back to his very first arrest [in 2017],” Ben told the site. “He was able to get that sentence suspended but that does not mean it’s gone. It’s hanging over his head and since he has violated probation, if the judge chooses to he can do what I call un-suspend it. So they could potentially put those things together with the year he is facing on this most-recent arrest.”

(According to Radar Online, Ryan was arrested in March after allegedly failing a scheduled drug test in January 2018. The site reported that Ryan tested positive for opiates and morphine in a urine sample.)

Ryan could be looking at serious jail time now, according to Hollywood Life‘s attorney source.

“Worst case scenario he could actually be looking at two-and-a-half years in jail. I think it’s probably unlikely that he would get totally maxed out on all of that,” he said.

This could result in Ryan missing the birth of his second child, as his pregnant wife Mackenzie told a follower on Instagram five days ago that she still has “10ish weeks to go” in her pregnancy.

Ryan has been sitting in the Hamilton County jail since Monday, and currently, he is being held without bond. (Wanna see his newest mugshot? Click here!)

A spokesperson for the jail told The Ashley that Ryan will remain behind bars at least until August 6, which is when his court date has been set for.

Ryan’s latest arrest came just days after he and Mackenzie declared that they were no longer going to be on ‘Teen Mom OG.’ (The Ashley told you what really went down behind-the-scenes to cause the couple to be ousted!) That same day, Ryan took to social media to declare that he was drug-free, and that MTV didn’t want to show him sober.

I will never stop speaking out against this horrible disease! It consumes your life and turns you into someone even you don’t know. I’m asking you to never give up. Each day is a struggle. I’ve made mistakes and I have really messed up in the past but there is so much hope ahead and it doesn’t mean I can’t change the future. If you or someone you know needs help, please don’t hesitate to go SAMHSA.gov. Help is out there. don’t take everything you see on MTV as factual truth. They don’t want to show me or Mack in a happy light or that I am active in my recovery. I AM. They want me to look angry, passive aggressive and uncaring regarding things that mean the most to me. I’m done taking their shit and letting the world believe this by standing up for myself. You’re believing a lie. And soon… very very soon, you WILL see the TRUTH behind the LIAR.

Mackenzie, as well as Ryan’s parents Jen and Larry Edwards, have remained silent since Ryan’s arrest and have not commented publicly on his legal troubles.

Ryan’s attorney has not yet responded to The Ashley’s request for comment.

  1. At this point, it’s just really sad. Yeah ok he’s a mess and has been complicit in his own decisions… But his son is having to hear all this playout. I’m sure he’s shielded from some of it, there’s no hiding when it’s all over the media. When your ex girlfriend is seemingly the only one interested in helping you, that raises some serious questions. Mackenzie is a fane hungry leech.

  2. I can’t imagine what little Hudson’s dad has to say about all this.

Right now along with Maci, shouldn’t he ALSO be demanding that Ryan pass a drug test before his child is allowed to be around him? Before riding in the backseat of a car with Ryan at the wheel? Or in the house where something could be left on the stove with Ryan nodding off in a heroin haze, while Mack is out shopping for groceries?

The horror scenarios go on and on. So just wondering why this child’s dad has be so virtually quiet on this.

  3. Hey MTV, can we get a Teen Mom/Intervention crossover episode? You can do Rhine and Juh-nelle in the same episode!

  4. As far as I see it, Maci is the ONLY one trying to save Ryan from dying of an overdose. Not one other person from his family, is doing anything to help him. They are all enabling him to continue to do drugs. They did not question him when he did 22 days of rehab. They did not question his aftercare. They did not question him for getting married on heroin. They did not question him for making a huge life decision of getting pregnant while still on drugs. They have done nothing.

It’s actually quite sad that Maci is the only one putting down her foot and putting down consequences. What Ryan needs is the show intervention, not some cushy rehab you leave after 22 days. He needs serious help and serious recovery plans.

    1. Your comment is ridiculous. Replacing a substance for another one isn’t smart. I know weed is clearly nothing like heroin or most drugs but one drug usually leads to mother when your a hardcore addict like him. I know because I’ve been sober from heroin for over 4 years now and I still struggle. It never goes away. I pray that Ryan gets help but he has to want it for himself otherwise it won’t work. His poor kid(s)

      1. Congratulations that is amazing, my person has been clean for 9 years and it’s honestly a miracle when people stay clean. I’m so proud of you

  5. I can easily believe what we actually see on mtv may not be accurate but one can’t say the same for the Police & court reports. Ryan’s wife & his parents have been made like complete idiots.

  6. Can I just play Devil’s Advocate here for a sec? What if was, indeed, on the right track to become sober and just had a major relapse due to his firing?

I say this in light of the whole Demi Lovato-thing: she’s been struggling with addiction, too, and now she’s fallen off the wagon. There are many people who support her and wishing her strength during this relapse. Maybe Rhine was trying to be better, too? Just a thought.

Having said this, I know that Ryan has been extremely avoidant about getting help (or so it seems on tv), and he’s been a giant selfish douchebag for as long as he’s been on TM. But, I have to agree with The Grace Report on this: Mack is a predator who should have NEVER been allowed to marry him while he was HIGH HIGH, and who should never have gotten pregnant/agreed to have his baby while he was “fresh out of the ‘hab”.

    1. It’s pretty embarrasing for you that you think Ryan with his 30days of rehab that he left early Is ANYTHING like Demi, who is HONEST
, and had SIX YEARS of sobriety. Ryan is clearly in active addiction.

      1. Oh, I’m so sorry if that’s how I came across! I am not at all comparing him to Demi, who her clearly deals with het struggles a lot better that Ryan does/did/will ever do!!! My point was that there is a possibility that he was, in fact, trying to get sober without “us” knowing, as we obviously don’t know what happens behind closed door. He might’ve been on the right track and fell off the wagon.

Again sorry if this analogy came across differently than I intended – I am absolutely NOT trying to bash Demi or stand up for Ryan or saying they are in the same boat or whatever. That’s why I started my last post the way i did.

      2. She was NOT!! Clean and sober for 6 years. She was lying just like all her handlers and managers were lying for her. Shes had at least 3 rehab stints we do not know about

      3. Only Demi DIDN’T have 6 years sobriety … she can claim that all she wants, but like most addicts she’s lying!

    2. You have a right to be open minded, I too like to give benefit of doubt. I think the huge issue here is ONLY 22 days in rehab and for such a harsh drug. I would like to point out that any professional ( in this field ) will tell you that you are HELPLESS to fix an addict that doesn’t truly want help. To post all this blame on his parents is nonsense, he has his own money, home, etc. they are not supplying him. Jen always looks a devastated mess and Larry takes no shit from Ryan.whatever the hurt that Ryan is trying to escape with drugs.. it’s my opinion that Larry plays a key roll.

  7. Jen and Larry are probably in agony over this, yeah they are enablers, but I think they’re good people and my heart aches for them. Mack on the other hand, I am sure she’s upset, but her reasoning is likely different. She’s probably sad that the reality tv dream she’s had since she was watching afar as a fan is gone and she’s going to have to find some way to take care of this child like a normal adult in the real world. Surely neither she nor Rhine thought to put any money away, so it looks like they will be heavily dependent on Jen and Larry. You know that when she was on that reunion couch reading that ridiculous letter, that she never would have thought the gravy train would end. Can’t say I feel bad for Mack, but I do feel for the unborn baby, Bentley and Huddle and Jen and Larry. It’s so sad that the actions of one addict has such far-reaching implications for so many other people.

    1. I she also wrote that letter knowing he got arrested for heroin. She already knew he had a problem. They just hid it. In fact I think that’s what caused the big fight work him and Larry when he got kicked out. They just kept it from MTV cameras. it was easy for her to try to blame Maci for not coming to anybody… When the whole time they knew!!! Mack is full of it. Now yes time for real jobs to take care of the kids your house nice cars and whatever else. Not on MTV now. Oh she also complained that MTV was taking care of her medical bills but now they stopped because they’re not on the show. Looks like it’s time to buy insurance or go to the health depa

  8. Well, Ryan said he didn’t want to be involved with the baby until it was 3 or so…he might get his wish to come true.

  9. Drugs are a choice. When you first decide to put the needle in your arm you have a choice to do it or walk away. I choose not to be a drug addict but if I wanted to be a drug addict I am sure I could. Don’t use the excuse it’s not a choice because you do have a choice.

Once again Ryan has made a baby and probably won’t be there to see him take his first breath. I can’t imagine not being there to see him come in the world. To see him for the first time. Those memories can never be redone. When you make a baby it’s not about you anymore. It’s about what’s best for your child. Grow some balls grow the hell up. Act like a man. Set a good example for your son. So sick of people on drugs making excuses for their bad behavior. When you make a child do the right thing. If you want to be a drug addict don’t have children.

    1. Anyone who boils down addiction to a choice and thinks “manning up” is the solution has absolutely no clue what addiction entails.

        1. Not true at all. You sound like a moron. I have had lots of experiences with addiction. Lost friends and family because of it and mental illness as well. And no i dont sit around and watch reality tv all day. I watch teen mom on demand when i have a secound at night. This is a an article about someone on the show. People have different opinions. Shut up and have a seat please.. k?

      1. @ITME
I agree with you 100%! If you never have been there you have no clue. Some people have addictive personalities. I get addicted to any and everything. So does my mom and my sis and my dad died from his addiction so I’m sorry it’s definitely more then just a choice. Yes I’ve been an addict but now I choose to stay socer but it’s very hard and I’ve been on medication to help for many years and I don’t care what anyone else thinks about that because it’s better then being a junkie like I was in the past.

      2. I knew that drugs were bad when I was like 5 years old. It’s a CHOICE to use them, even once. It’s a simple choice to never try one. No matter how condescending you try to be, we all know someone who’s an addict or who’s dead from being one. What about all of us who have never tried a drug and dealt with all life’s problems by being strong? Where’s our praise? How come no one’s congratulating us or calling us “a miracle”? My life has been nothing short of horrific, from childhood through now. But guess what? When I was a kid I didn’t take drugs because I knew they were bad. Just like everyone else. Well wouldn’t you know, I never got taken over by this “disease”. So yes it IS in our control. Don’t speed, you won’t get a ticket. Don’t steal, you won’t get arrested. Don’t shoot someone, you won’t be a killer. Don’t try drugs, you won’t be an addict. It has nothing to do with “knowing what addiction entails”. Ryan was a grown ass man with a young son, a mother who would lay down her life for him, all the money he could want, a job that required nothing but him to hang out with his son once in a while and let it be videotaped…….and he threw it all away by making the choice to take those first drugs. His fault, not Maci’s, not MTV’s.

  10. Really what he needs is to go to rehab and then move somewhere else where he doesn’t have his same drug contacts, addicted friends and co-dependent parents. Unfortunately his parents and child will keep him there. He just needs rehab and a fresh start away from Tennessee. Hope some jail time will scare him into rehab. Longterm jail won’t help or solve his problems. Lots of drugs and other addicts in jail and he is definitely not used to roughing it. Feel bad for his parents. Hope they go to al-anon because I think they are going to love him to death. Yes, that is from intervention!

  11. “MtV dOeSn’T wAnT tO FiLm A rEcOvErInG aDdIcT,” says Mack and Rhine. Give it up. You are NOT sober, and you never have been. Stop lying about your shit and get some help. Nobody will turn you down just because of your Z list celebrity from teen mom og. Quit making excuses and check into an extended stay rehab, like Butch did.

  12. Anyone here an old school reality TV watched like me and can’t help but think of Intervention? I’ve got Candy Finnegan in my head telling me there are no old heroin addicts. Ryan’s only choices for his future are sobriety, sobriety (in jail), or early death. I have no clue which one it will be and I hate thinking about it.

My heart goes out to Maci too. She cares about him but there’s nothing she can do but draw lines in the sand and stick to them. Ryan’s entourage needs to follow her lead, and get serious about getting help themselves.

      1. Generally speaking, any subsequent arrest means you have violated the terms of your suspended sentence, a possession charge after a suspended drug sentence would mean you’re in what we lawyers called”deep shit.” That said, his parents have money and he might be allowed into a longer term rehab facility instead since it seems he isn’t selling, just using.

      2. Really it could be anything. A missed apt. with a parole officer, dirty pee, not peeing on command, or even caught with drugs. All I know is he did not do with the court told him to do. And whatever he did has no bond. Tough place to be.

We all know that he was tweekin all last season. The scene were everybody was eating (Mima Jenn, Larry, and his wife) but him was disturbing. Everybody at the table knew he was high but no 1 addressed it. Ryan’s family has did what they thought was best but they have failed Ryan. Hopefully, this will be what he needs and they need to get it together.

      3. Has to be or fail a test.Or did something else illegal and we KNOW he does nothing illegal.
Also Heroin comes in a pill form now you don’t always have to inject it.

      4. He missed a court date, regarding this case. Which then caused a warrant for his arrest. Not showing up revoked his probation

  13. If he doesn’t want to get clean, nothing is going to change that. He will just use again as soon as he gets out. As long as he has enablers all around him, I don’t think there’s any hope of him wanting to get clean.

    1. It’s definitely going to put him into withdrawal (if he’s become physically addicted again) at the very least. I think the most dfficult part will be what happens when he’s allowed out of jail. He’s going to be feeling pretty dope sick, so he’ll either end up using ASAP or he’s going to have to go straight from jail to a rehab facility where they can either do some medication assisted treatment to make the withdrawals go away, or he can at least be locked down and monitored so that he can’t go out to use.

      1. He’s already detoxed at this point. Most rehabs, even court-ordered are not locked down. If you don’t want to be sober, they don’t want you there.

He needs to get away from his current situation. You can’t heal where you got sick.

  14. He really needs to be in jail. Mack will probably blame Maci for this. Like she always does ?
Just like Aubree it’s a good thing Bentley has a good non drug addictive father figure in his life.

  15. Honestly, I feel like jail is best thing for heroin addicts. If they are denial about their problem and refuse to get treatment, it’s pretty much guaranteed that they will die sooner or later. In jail, they get clean and it keeps them away from temptation and trouble. My cousin was a heroin addict and he spent a year in jail. He’s been clean ever since and is happily married with two kids. He tells me all the time that his jail time saved his life.

  16. In that BS woe-is-me Instagram post, Ryan signs off by saying “soon, very very soon…you will see the TRUTH behind a LIAR.” Soooo…he must’ve been referring to himself, then?

    1. Ryan? Mackenzie wrote that, not Ryan lol. She speaks for him on everything. Ryan doesn’t talk like that (he hardly talks at all).

      1. Exactly and I’ll go one further. I’d not be shocked to find out that Ryan probably never even learned to read, let alone write. Mimi Jen has done all but wipe his ass for him his entire life.

Dude is about as bright a pet rock.

Best thing that could happen is he goes away long enough to sober up and get some help. God help his kids having him for a father.

      2. Haaaa, yes, you’re right. My runner-up comment WAS “‘They don’t want to show me or Mack in a happy light…’ Please, this Tinder-loving fool doesn’t care about her enough to write something like that.”

  17. At the end of the day this is just very, very sad. Ryan need help and the people who love him need to start handing out some tough love. Consistently telling the public that he is active in his recovery is only helping Ryan to believe that he can sustain his addiction. It’s possible that he’s not using as heavily as he was, and somehow has convinced himself that he therefore is in recovery. Maybe he switched back to pills for a while and thinks he can control it. The fact is that Ryan needs to sit in jail going through withdrawal with no crutches so he can see the truth in what he is doing to himself.

  18. Haha he’s the ultimate ghoster! Rather goes to jail than raise a baby with Mack 😀 remember when he told her “call me when he’s 3” or something? Talk about being careful what you wish for LOL

    1. Yes, my first thought was “Way to go Ryan, you found a way to get away from Mack!”
She must be regretting that trap baby by now.
