TLC Reportedly Casting for Another “90 Day” Spin-Off: Get Ready for “90 Day Fiancé: College Edition!”

TLC executives explaining the motivation behind all of these 90 Day Fiancé spin-offs they keep cranking out…

With six 90 Day Fiancé spin-offs to date, TLC is hoping to strike gold for a seventh time—this time, with a much younger cast of geographically challenged couples.

According to Starcasm, “90 Day Fiancé” show producers are casting for a potential new franchise spin-off to bring to TLC, tentatively titled 90 Day Fiancé: College Edition.

“College?! I’m listening… “

According to the site, Sharp Entertainment is interested in casting a group of couples, specifically “students (college/university/graduate students) who are in a relationship, in which one partner in the relationship is an international student (studying in the U.S. on a student visa).”

As for the requirements of potential cast members, the producers are looking for students who are set to graduate soon; one must be a U.S. citizen and the other must be “an international student graduation around December 2019 or a former international student whose OPT is expiring.”

According to the Backstage casting website, potential cast members must be between the age of 18 and 32.

“I guess that age limit rules out me and Mother going on the new show. Oh, drat!”

If the ‘College Edition’ ultimately moves forward, it would be the seventh spin-off to follow the original “90 Day Fiancé.” As of now, the spin-offs include 90 Day Fiancé: Pillow Talk, 90 Day Fiancé: What Now?, 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days, 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way, 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? and The Family Chantel.

As The Ashley told you in August, ‘The Family Chantel,’ which features “90 Day Fiancé” and “90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After?” alums Pedro Jimeno and Chantel Everett (along with Chantel’s wig-snatchin’ family) set a franchise record with its July premiere, bringing in 1.527 million viewers.

When your show’s ratings are more successful than your marriage.

Along with the success of ‘The Family Chantel,’ “90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way” also proved to be a big hit for the network, debuting with 1.232 million viewers in June. By the August 5 episode, viewership had grown to 1.801 million.

  4. Yeah this is a common thing on the immigration forum I am part of – they are just looking for the most drama as there can be many problems with timing filing right and if the relationship falls apart with them having switched to a ead on their adjustment of status application rather than their opt filing.

Basically it also means they don’t have to have someone filmed that isn’t already in the country. It’s not really 90 day fiancé in that a fiancé visa won’t be involved but hey the name sells.

Doing a 90 day fiancé where the us citizen is the college student and the problems with meeting the financial requirements especially if the public charge ones get fully applied could be quite interesting.
