Meri Brown Confirms Her Marriage to Kody Brown Is Over In Sneak Peek of ‘Sister Wives’ Finale Special: “He Already Made the Decision”

“We may not share a marital bond anymore, but we can still share hair gels!”

Meri Brown seems to have finally accepted that her marriage to Kody Brown is over.

In People‘s sneak peek of Sunday’s Sister Wives “One on One” finale special, Meri— who was Kody’s first wife— reveals that she and Kody are no longer married, and that Kody made the decision for them both.

This news comes not long after another clip went public that showed Kody’s second wife Janelle stating on the “One on One” episode that she and Kody have separated. (Kody’s third wife, Christine, left Kody in 2021. He remains legally married to Robyn.)

Meri said that she was surprised that Kody was so upset about Christine deciding that she and Kody were divorced, given that Kody did the same thing in regard to his marriage to her.

“It just doesn’t make sense to me that he would be so frustrated with Christine and be like, ‘She just made this decision [that we’re divorced]. We didn’t consult, we didn’t talk.’… and then he says, ‘No, I don’t consider myself married to Meri.’ Like, he just made the decision [that we’ve split]. I’d never heard him say that to me,” Meri said.

Meri then revealed that, if anything, Kody had previously led her to believe that there was a chance that they could get their marriage back on track.

“If you could overdraw your eyebrows and start crying, I could pretend you were Robyn and maybe I could get through a makeout session with you.”

“Even since being in Flagstaff, he has led me to believe that he was trying,” she said. “Our first anniversary that we had here in Flagstaff [in April 2018], [Kody said], ‘Cheers to a new beginning.’ As opposed to this last anniversary [in April 2022], when he was like, ‘I don’t even know why you called me, Meri. We’re not married. We’re not acting as married.'”

Meri stated that she wanted to inform the public that they were officially done, but Kody was reluctant, most likely due to the backlash he received after Christine announced in November 2021 that she had left him.

“I said to him, ‘If that’s where we are, don’t you think that we should address that publicly?” Meri said. “And he said, ‘No, I don’t want to address it. I don’t want that to be out there publicly because I don’t want that judgement.'”

This man– who legit walks around willingly looking like this—doesn’t want any judgement? OK…

When episode host Sukanya Krishnan asked Meri straight-out where that leaves her marriage to Kody, Meri stated that Kody has decided that the marriage is over.

“He already made the decision. You just saw him say that,” Meri told her.

Meri stated that she is open to try to get back together with Kody, but she knows Kody probably doesn’t feel the same way.

“I would. I definitely would,” she said. “But I don’t think that he’s interested.”

“That’s gonna be a no from me, dawg.”

Sukanya then brings up a conversation she had with Kody during his “One on One” interview in which Kody claims that he was considering reconciling with Meri around the time of their 30th anniversary, which was in April 2021.

“There was a moment there where he was so open to reconciling with you, because that was a moment where he felt he could put the past away and be with you,” Sukanya tells Meri.

That conversation— which Entertainment Tonight posted a clip of on Wednesday— shows Kody discussing why he was considering reconciling with Meri after their long estrangement.

“I was no longer angry with her for what I had gone through in my life with her,” a tearful Kody said of Meri. “I was willing to see the error in my ways, and then work to determine whether we were good with each other anymore.”

He told Sukanya that he then went to his other three wives (whom he called “my other three best friends”) and said he told them that, “Baby, Meri and I could work it out maybe.”

Kody claimed that Christine was not happy about the possibility of Meri and Kody reconciling.

“It just rattles Christine,” Kody claims.

“Now I have to sell leggings, save my marriage to Kody AND beat up Christine for interfering with me and my man?! WTF?”

Meri then tells Sukanya that she finds Kody’s statement about wanting to reconcile with her “interesting” given that, on the day of their 30th anniversary, Kody told her that he was not coming back to their relationship. Meri is also surprised to hear that Christine was against her getting back together with Kody.

“I never knew about that moment with him [wanting to reconcile],” Meri says. “And I never knew about the moment with Christine until you just told me.

  1. How sad that she has so little respect for herself that she’s holding out hope for a reconciliation with her. She deserves better.

  2. Robyn is probably dehydrated because Kody, I mean Christine, ruined her business (name). No sister wives, perhaps living in a closet in the future.

  3. The next season is going to be lit.

I hope that they just continued recording. Kody we saw Kody for full crazy when he thought the wife he didn’t want left him, now lets to when two more leave what happens.

  4. Did Cody just say that their version of christianity is fake since you apparently stop being married if you just dont act married?

  5. Meri obviously didn’t realize Kody was saying all the stuff about her until she saw the show… which didn’t broadcast until over a year later. Seeing it with her own eyes must have been her wake up call.

    1. Honestly, that would be heartbreaking. The rest of the world (or just us sad losers who watch this show) knows your husband hates you, has zero interest in rebuilding your relationship, and wants you out of the extended family, but you believe that the relationship is going to be repaired until you see the man-child speaking horribly about you with zero compassion. That’s devastating and another reason to justifiably go Lorena Bobbitt or Tonya Harding on his ass.

      You deserve better Meri.

  6. It’s about freaking time Meri acknowledges that it’s over. Everybody, including those living under rocks, knew that marriage was over.

    1. There are 4 million of us that watch it.

Which doesn’t seem quite as strange as those who don’t watch it but still comment on articles about it. But to each their own.

  7. I dont watch the show but read about it here from time to time…curious tho on how many kids would he have to pay child support on if they went after him for that or are all his kids mostly grown now?

    1. Mostly grown, I believe only two he doesn’t live with would fall under child support. BUT because they weren’t legally married I don’t think he is on all of their birth certificates.

  8. So what about his cult’s beliefs? Isn’t he supposed to be in a plural marriage to have some kind of kingdom in heaven or whatever? Just one wife won’t do. Is he planning on taking more wives? I don’t think he really wants that or Robyn

    1. Meri you should have known that Kody didn’t want you.Now Robyn might have to actually get a job.She doesn’t want to work.If she can’t now use Janelle,Christine and Meri to support her anymore.God knows Kody doesn’t want a job either

    2. None of them follow that religion anymore, so it doesn’t matter. They don’t believe that whole “a man needs 3 wives to get his own kingdom in heaven” thing anymore.

  9. By April 2021, Christine had already told Kody she was leaving him and she had made the decision even before then, so I doubt he asked her whether he should get back with Meri. And I doubt even more that she strongly objected. And even if she had, why would that hold any weight? He’s using her as a scapegoat. Not surprising.

  10. Meri, I truly think your life is going to be better without Kody being cruel, judgmental, condescending, and generally treating you like garbage.

I do wonder though if Kody treats his confessionals like therapy. He definitely says things most decent human/husband/father’s wouldn’t say outside a therapists office. It’s truly dumbfounding how open he is about being horrible.

It will be interesting (well, mildly) to see what happens with Kody and Robyn. She seems to want to continue to practice polygamy. She begged Meri to stick with the relationships (both with Kody and the entire family) because she wants to be a sister wife. But if all your sister wives are gone, are you going to be happy with Kody full-time or push him to bring in new wives?

  11. Why is she still wanting this guy? She was OUT at one point, packed her bags and ready to leave, why is she so willing to be with him now?

Kody looking for a New young “hot” wife already, stay alert Robyn, the switch is coming

  12. TLC must be ending the show if all the wives are finally leaving. They must know more about the show than we the public know.

  13. If I was Meri, I’d question if he even told Christine or Janelle that he was considering getting back with Meri…cause I highly doubt it.

    1. I highly doubt that as well. For one, why would he?

It would be only Robin he would discuss it with, and she would pitch a fit. She would rather have Meri hanging so she could control her.

Christine could care less, she had already decided to go by that time. Janelle wouldn’t care either.

  14. Well Kody has been a jackass to since the beginning.I’m glad that Christine and Janelle finally got away from the POS.Robyn has done everything to get rid of Christine,Janelle and Meri.I hope she is happy about turning him against them.I hope he get’s exactly what he deserves.

  15. Kody didn’t want it to go public cause then show has no meaning. Get this guy off tv. We need life after sister wives with Christine, Janelle and Meri ONLY no kody or robin let little man get real job to support his favorite wife and kids.
