Lifetime TV Movie About Alana Thompson’s Life as Child Star to Premiere Next Month: Get Details on “I Was Honey Boo Boo”

“Mama ain’t gonna like this…”

Alana Thompson‘s life is being turned into a Lifetime movie.

People broke the news on Tuesday that the network has produced a bio-pic about the 19-year-old’s life— from her days on the pageant scene, to her big break on TLC‘s reality show Here Comes Honey Boo Boo, to the struggles she had with her mother Mama June Shannon and more.

I Was Honey Boo Boo— which will be released next month— will be narrated by Alana herself– who will be played by child actress Vale Cooper. (Isabelle Ayres will portray the older Alana.)

According to People, the TV movie will “offer a glimpse into what went on behind the scenes, revealing how [Alana’s] on-stage persona concealed the harsh reality of constant criticism and family struggles, particularly with her mother, Mama June.”

“Wait. Hold up. They wanna do a movie about Alana? I hope it’s called ‘Mama June’s Daughter Alana’ or somethin’.”

The movie will follow Alana and her family through her pageant and ‘Honey Boo Boo’ days, exposing what life was really like for the child reality TV star.

“Behind closed doors were forced smiles, silent tears and the lingering sense of uncertainty for what the future held for Alana and her family,” the movie’s synopsis states. “After a series of scandals and legal troubles, Alana’s world was turned upside down and she was ultimately placed in the care of her older sister, Lauryn ‘Pumpkin’ Efird.”

“How they gonna find actors that are cousins to play Josh and his cousin that I’m now datin’?”

Pumpkin will be portrayed by Mia Turley and Georgia Small, while other members of the Honey Boo Boo gang will also get the TV movie treatment. Alana’s dad Mike “Sugar Bear” Thompson— who is no longer in Alana’s life— will be played by Neil Chinneck. It is unknown if the movie will feature actors playing Alana’s other sisters, Jessica Shannon and the late Anna Cardwell

It appears that ‘I Was Honey Boo Boo’ will take viewers into the Mama June: Family Crisis years and right up until present day.

“Now in college, Alana is determined to shake off the labels that have followed her, shed light on the darker side of child stardom and forge a path to overcome generational trauma and challenges,” the movie’s synopsis states.

‘I Was Honey Boo Boo’ premieres May 17 on Lifetime. That same month, a new season of ‘Mama June: Family Crisis’ will premiere on WEtv

  1. I’m eager to see how the Girls life was with that horrid Mother of theirs. She used her Girls over & over & she wouldn’t make a patch on a Good mothers a – -.

  2. I’m dying to watch this. But I don’t have a TV or cable! Help me!!!

“A dollar makes me HOLLA, honey boo boo child!”

  3. Hard pass. I’ve already watched these morbidly obese idiots make fools of themselves once, don’t need to see it again.

  4. I’d only be interested if the family WASN’T involved in the production. You can bet we won’t see the grifting or her living with a grown man at 15. It will be completely glossed over.

  5. Will be seeing them grift on TT? Or the fact she moved in with her boyfriend and cousin when she was 15? He was Pumpkins dealer.
That the whole reality show is bs and lies?
Or will they show the pursuit her bf got into with the police while she was in the car? Will they show them on TT
talking in their gangster accent how it wasn’t his fault?

    1. I don’t really keep up with these gremlins but your comment caught my attention. So let me get this straight … Alana moved in with her boyfriend when she was 15? How old was the bf? And was the boyfriend or the cousin pumpkins drug dealer ? And what drug(s) is she on?

  6. Judge me if you will, but I’m excited for this. Over-dramatic Lifetime movie paired with the epitome of white trash. That’s TV gold right there.

  7. Not gonna lie I love lifetime movies & I love the whole honey boo boo family trainwreck. So I’ll definitely be watching. We all know lifetime likes to put their little dramatized spin on their “based on a true story” movies anyway.. especially the biopics.. but I doubt they’ll need to work too hard at that on this one.
