Kody Brown‘s former wives say that ex-family patriarch wanted his women looking good.
During Sunday’s episode of Sister Wives, two of Kody’s ex-wives— Meri and Christine— discussed their former husband’s obsession with their hair, makeup and clothing, and Christine revealed that he often compared how they looked to his fourth wife, Robyn‘s appearance.
“He liked makeup. It was like, you had to always, always look nice,” Christine– who left Kody in 2021— told her husband David Woolley. “It mattered to him so much.
According to Christine, Robyn was able to oftentimes spend more time making herself “Kody-ready” than the other women were, which would result in her getting extra attention from Kody.
“We’d go camping and [his other ex-wife] Janelle and I would be sitting there busting our butts getting breakfast made, cleaning up the mess and honestly, Robyn would be doing her makeup forever and doing her kids’ hair and doing her hair and making sure everybody looked good.
“Kody would sit there and praise how they looked when we’d been sweating and slaving over the freaking food and cleaning up the campsite,” she added.
(‘Sister Wives’ fans may remember a particular episode from 2011 in which Janelle and Kody’s son Hunter actually called Robyn out for doing her makeup while everyone else was cleaning up the campsite.)

“No wonder I was constantly wondering and constantly insecure because, as much as I was comparing, he was also comparing [us to Robyn] all the time,” Christine said of Kody’s “shallow” behavior. “Robyn was up on this pedestal and the rest of us were just lacking. I felt I was lacking in the relationship.”
Meri also recalled her ex-husband’s obsession with looks.
“Kody’s always wanted people around him to look good,” Meri stated. “I remember when he and I were first dating, he would take me out and buy outfits because he wanted me to look good.”
Meri did admit, though, that she didn’t feel the same pressures that Christine felt to make sure her looks were up to Kody’s standards.
Kody– the self-proclaimed possessor of “rock-hard abs” and “buns of steel”— has stated publicly several times that he was not attracted to Christine, even during their marriage.

Shout out and thank you to The Ashley contributors and editors for not including Curly’s washboard abs, buns of steel, piece of meat diatribe in their synopsis. (🤢). What he lacks in humility, he makes up for in conceit. He just doesn’t get it, nothing about him is attractive. You’d think after three wives left him and his estrangement from the majority of his children, he’d have figured it out.

Let’s face it, good looking or not, how many women are going to share one husband and all those kids? I am surprised Meri, Janelle and Christine did for as long as they did! As for Kody? He is certainly no prize. Now if a woman is looking for a jerk, he is definitely one!

Gawd I know right, it’s almost as if they are on a show where they are constantly being asked questions about each other because they no longer interact therefore making the name of the show redundant and have producers asking questions that viewers may be wondering about too especially if they didn’t watch the other seasons.

Kody always acted like Robyn was stunning, but really her only appeal was being younger than the OGs. She was scrawny and had an average face. Now she’s aged, gained weight, and her face is permanently frowning from all the years of fake crying. Kody has also put on weight and looks ridiculous clinging to his remaining hair. I’d normally shy away from saying those kinds of things about people because we all inevitably age and gain weight, but both of them deserve the criticism after how they treated the others. I love the fact that the other three absolutely blossomed after getting away from them.
The others worked and took care of kids while Robyn did nothing but Kody. Of course they let their looks go, they were all exhausted and stressed. Meanwhile, Robyn was jobless and had a nanny.

Have you seen the hair routine?!?! Robyn has a stronger will than I, I could never do Kody again after watching his “excuse my beauty” routine and this was before I knew about the lunch lady hair net.
