‘Love Is Blind’ Star Lydia Velez Gonzalez Splits from Husband Milton Johnson: Details Their “Tumultuous” Marriage After the Show

Love is blind…and apparently over for these two…

Another Love Is Blind couple has called it quits.

Lydia Velez Gonzalez revealed on Wednesday that she has decided to divorce her husband, Milton Johnson, nearly three years after the two tied the knot on Season 5 of the Netflix reality show. During an appearance this week on former ‘Love Is Blind’ star Amber Desiree “AD” Smith’s What’s the Reality? podcast, Lydia opened up about her marriage to Milton, claiming that, “life since ‘Love Is Blind’ has been tumultuous.”

“ … Since Season 5, there’s been a lot of grief, heartbreaks, a lot of growth, but I’m here, and I’m so proud of my strength and what it keeps proving to be my resilience in life,” she told AD, before adding that she was finally ready to “speak my truth” and that her intent was not to “bash anybody” while doing so.

“Sorry not sorry, Milty.”

“ … I’ve been quiet for too long, not necessarily because I didn’t have anything to speak of, more because I wasn’t ready for other people’s opinions and judgement,” she explained. “And now I’m ready and I have decided [to file for divorce] against Milton.”

Lydia said the decision to end her marriage wasn’t the result of “one thing,” but rather a series of things over the last few years; however, she claimed that when she informed Milton of her plan to file for divorce, he refused to sign the papers “unless there was an NDA” in place, which “said enough” for Lydia to know that she needed to share her side of the story.

Lydia said that while her and Milton’s marriage was “beautiful” and “perfect” in the beginning, issues between the two began “very early.” She then detailed one of the first arguments she and Milton had– just six months into their marriage– regarding a woman from Milton’s past whom he allegedly refused to “cut off,” according to People. Lydia said that, not only was her husband giving her excuses for remaining in contact with the woman, she later discovered texts between Milton and his best friend, in which Milton claimed the woman had “been all around this d**k lately” and admitted that he wanted to “f**k her.”

When questioned about the texts, Lydia said Milton insisted he would never “jeopardize his marriage,” only to eventually turn the argument around on her and accuse her of invading his privacy.

The former Netflix stars turned to couple’s therapy to work on their relationship, though their issues continued before eventually getting worse. Lydia said her husband frequently accused her of “nagging him all the time” and disrespecting him with her choice of swimwear. Lydia said Milton even requested that she stop posting photos of herself in swimsuits to social media, which she agreed to do on the condition that he stop “liking” photos of other women in bikinis on social media.

“I stopped and he didn’t,” she said of the agreement. “What stopped was him engaging with my posts.”

“This one’s for you, Milton!”

Lydia also recalled moments in her marriage when Milton was allegedly rude, evasive and non-affectionate, with one incident in particular leading her to go into “full panic attack and meltdown” mode, which Milton responded to by threatening to call the police. She also recalled an incident when he allegedly threatened to throw her “out on the streets” and informed her that he had “left women for much less.”

After being diagnosed with Fibromyalgia in September 2024, Lydia said Milton failed to support her, despite the diagnosis “ruin[ing] my life.”

“Instead of him being my support, he told me, ‘You’re not dying, you just have to eat healthy and work out,’” she recalled.

She also accused Milton of telling her “f**k no” when she wanted to request a medical leave from her job after receiving her diagnosis. Lydia noted that Milton responded in this way, despite her being the primary breadwinner in the couple’s home.

Lydia revealed that the final straw in her marriage came after she learned that Milton had allegedly been flirting with and pursuing women at bars while out of town and, in once case, had invited a woman to his hotel room and conversed with her via text and FaceTime. Lydia said she found out about her husband’s alleged out-of-town activities through DMs from women on social media and, in the case of the woman who received a hotel room invite, an email detailing what Milton had allegedly done.

“That was it for me,” Lydia said, adding that Milton was allegedly going out without his ring and claiming that he wasn’t married. “I was like, I cannot continue.”

“You’ve officially ruined pods for me.”

According to Lydia, while she’s yet to be granted a divorce, her marriage to Milton has been over since March 31, when Milton began giving her the “silent treatment” in response to her asking for a divorce. (While the two were living together in Milton’s parents’ house at the time, Lydia said she now lives with one of her friends and has been since March.) Lydia claimed that Milton responded to her attempt to discuss a divorce with, “You’re too f**king stupid and an untrustworthy person.”

Following the release of her interview on Wednesday, Lydia posted a lengthy statement to Milton to Instagram, calling the beginning of their relationship “truly magical,” and noting that while she was the one who initiated their split, it wasn’t because she no longer loves him.

“ … I never ever wished [for] this ending; or any ending to be honest,” she wrote. “I wish I knew the answer to what happened? What made you change? Truly so I could go back and fix it. When you read these words you are probably going to be angry at me. You always were when I ‘overshared’ but this is part of my healing, and gathering back the pieces you broke. No one will ever know the amount of pain as I write this, or all the sleepless nights.”

Despite the “tumultuous” marriage they shared, Lydia went on to thank Milton for “choosing me as I was,” claiming that, because of who Milton was at the altar, she knows what she deserves in a partner.

“My wish for you is that you find your happiness – that you couldn’t find with me, and I have accepted that,” she wrote. “Forever the first man that chose me and loved me for being me! I wouldn’t trade it even though I am in pain. I wouldn’t change our marriage for anything, forever you have taken a piece of my heart with you, I loved you beyond the beyond, and for me Love will always be blind.”

The news of Lydia and Milton’s split comes less than a month after Colleen Reed and Matt Bolton of Season 3 announced they were divorcing. Of the 16 marriages to happen during the first eight seasons of ‘Love Is Blind,’ only nine of the couples are currently together.

Milton has yet to respond publicly to Lydia’s statements.

  1. Lydia only came on the show to reconnect with this dude Uche that ghosted her. She found out he was cast and she damn near broke her neck to get herself cast too.
Anyways, Milton is too fine for all that drama.

And good for Colleen divorcing Matt. He was another terrible dude on that show.
