Farrah Abraham says it’s partially her mom’s fault that she ended up making her infamously graphic sex tape in 2013— but the Teen Mom star’s mother, Debra Danielsen, is speaking out and calling many of the things Farrah says in her episode of A&E‘s Secrets of Celebrity Sex Tapes “inaccurate.”
As The Ashley previously told you, Farrah’s episode aired this week, and the Backdoor Teen Mom has been doing plenty of interviews to promote it. In a recent interview, Farrah stated that she was easily influenced by a bad manager to do her sex tape, due to Debra not being a good mother to her at the time.
“It definitely was a time when I was young, no one was really looking out for me,” Farrah said earlier this week. “I had a really bad mother wound. I had a really bad complex with my mom not being the mom that I needed.”
In an exclusive interview with The Ashley, the former ‘Teen Mom’ grandma stated that she was not happy about the episode for several reasons.
“I found the A&E episode on Farrah inaccurate,” Deb told The Ashley. “Many comments are incorrect, but it is interesting how my image was used without my permission.”
Debra— who did not appear in the episode— said she was also disappointed that A&E failed to discuss what she says is the real reason for Farrah’s sex tape and enduring struggles: her alleged mental health issues.
“A story was woven that blames others for Farrah’s decisions and life choices,” Debra said. “I truly am sorry that the network didn’t talk about the underlying mental health challenges that drive her life choices.”
While Debra didn’t appear in the episode, Farrah’s father, Michael Abraham, did (and The Big F was not happy about it). Dr. Drew Pinsky— who has hosted both the 16 & Pregnant and Teen Mom reunions since the shows began— is also featured on Farrah’s episode, and Deb said she was happy to see him hinting about Farrah’s issues.
“Dr. Drew alluding to these mental health challenges was a good start,” Debra stated.
Debra— who has been estranged from Farrah for several years— also told The Ashley that she was advised by several TV doctors who have worked with Farrah about her daughter’s alleged mental health issues.
“Dr. Ish [Major] and Dr. Phil both educated me about the situation,” Debra said. “They also both recommend that I move forward and live my life. So, I am.”
(As The Ashley has reported, Debra has become a rapper over the last few years and has released several…interesting…music videos for her tunes.)
Her estrangement from Farrah has also resulted in her not being able to see Farrah’s daughter, 16-year-old Sophia, whom Debra helped raise. Farrah has stated that Sophia wants nothing to do with Debra and Michael.
“My daughter really had a word with me the other night,” Farrah told Us Weekly recently. “She just said, ‘No matter what, like, with this episode coming out, like, do not go back to talking to [your parents]. [She said], ‘Don’t go there, you know, don’t visit the circus.’ So my daughter is so wise.”

Yeses, Deb Is the reason for the butt sex, the Dubai hustle, all of it. Couldn’t be that F is a mentally ill ho baby nah…
Isn’t it time she grew up and took accountability for her own actions! Yes her family had there issues but many people grow up with way worse, and honestly I am feed up with her going on about the father of her child, she was horrible and dismissed him when he was alive, she keeps changing the narrative
I hate using this term because it’s so overdone, but Farrah is truly a narcissist of the highest order.
So Ole Deb is still sticking with that absolutely nothing is wrong with her and how she parented Farrah…. okay
No doubt Farrah has a NUMBER of issues but a majority of those are rooted in Debra and Michael’s parenting. And isn’t it funny when Debra had access to the money Farrah made from her sex tape, she was all too willing to kiss Farrahs ass and defend her making the tape?
Meaningful information? Morally relevant? Can judgement be rendered without understanding what borderline personality disorder is?
So, Debrah is right that Farrah has her own mental health struggles to deal with and that those played a huge role in her choices. Farrah is wrong for continuing to blame her parents, in her 30’s, for her poor choices.
She is not wrong that they fucked her up. But part of healing is the incredibly important realization that, it may not be my fault, but it’s my problem, and it is on my to fix. The fault of others is implied, but not something that is healthy to carry on with and hold onto as an adult. As long as we are able to attribute our problems to others, we will never heal and we will never solve them.
Debrah commenting at all, or giving an “exclusive” interview, is just a testament that she is a bad parent who fucked up her children. Sometimes, love means swallowing the urge to defend ourselves because doing so may harm others. In the case of a parent, that means taking the bullet and not having to fire back. Debrah was not a good parent to Farrah. Whatever may be true today doesn’t change that. The very least that she can do is keep quiet. But, much like Jenelle, she will continue to put herself before her children and do what makes her feel best.
