Cory Wharton has, once again, announced on social media that Teen Mom: The Next Chapter has been cancelled. However, some of his co-stars are calling him out for randomly making the declaration and stating that no one else has been informed of the show’s official cancellation.
The Ashley has also gone to her production sources to find out if the show, had, indeed been officially cancelled.
On Friday, Cory took to social media to make a long, sentimental post about the show ending. (Those with no life and/or a good memory will recall that Cory made a similar post to this in November 2025.)
“Teen Mom Is Canceled,” Cory began his post, which also featured photos and videos from his time on the long-in-the-tooth MTV show. “All I can do is look back and reminisce. I’m so thankful for this opportunity. I could truly say that it changed my life. I got to show the world me as a DAD not just as a competitor on ‘The Challenge,’ but as a young father, trying to navigate this thing that we call life.

“When we got asked to get put on the show, we were a little hesitant because we really had to let our guards down and let the cameras in on our life at the time when our lives were so up and down,” he continued. “But I think our story was relatable to a lot of people, and what I learned is even if we only touched one or two families it makes it all worth it. So many memories throughout the years; tears, laughs, fights, arguments all that good stuff. I mean, we really did it all on there.”
Cory went on to thank MTV for casting him on the show, and all the people who worked behind the scenes.
“Thank you for making this happen for making it possible for me to achieve my dreams,” he wrote. “But I think it’s time we put a bow on this & please believe we aren’t stopping here. I’m excited for the future. 8 years 🎬 Luv ya.”
While Cory’s farewell ode to ‘Teen Mom’ seemed heartfelt, it left many of his co-stars confused– with some coming forward on Friday to declare that no one else on the cast had heard anything to indicate that the show has been officially cancelled.
On Snapchat, Briana DeJesus first wrote that the network hasn’t “fired the higher-ups and ‘Teen Mom’ is their only show.” (She is talking about the executive producers, by the way.)

As The Ashley previously told you, the cast remains under contract for the show for one calendar year from the time the last episode aired. The last episode of ‘Next Chapter’ aired in May 2025, meaning that the cast is currently still under contract. From what The Ashley’s production sources have told her, the network will legally need to notify the cast by May 2026 if the show is cancelled, something that has not happened to The Ashley’s knowledge, as of press time.
“If they are terminating the casts’ contracts early, they would need to formally do that and inform the cast that they are no longer under contract,” a source tells The Ashley.
After seeing Cory’s post, The Ashley reached out to several cast members, as well as members of the show’s production staff. So far, everyone that The Ashley has contacted has indicated that they received no call, email or notification that there has been any change in the show’s status. (Whenever a ‘Teen Mom’ show has been cancelled in years past, the cast was officially informed.)
In addition, MTV has also not released an official announcement stating the show is over.
Briana went on write that she is hoping the cast gets one more season.
“Bring back some of the OGs so we can be messy and make great TV,” she suggested. “[Teen Mom] gotta bring Farrah, Kail and Jenelle back! I wanna go tic for tat with the middle one. It was fun, I miss it.”
(As fans will remember, Kail and Briana had an infamous feud that included an on-stage Reunion fight, Bri mailing Kail a treadmill and a clown suit, and an actual defamation lawsuit.)
“I wanna have a Reunion with all the ladies,” she continued. “Talk s**t. Fight a little but come together and enjoy our life.”
Jade Cline also seemed to be making a joke out of Cory’s post, reposting it to Instagram Stories and writing, “Damn now I gotta get a real job.” (Jade has always worked outside of ‘Teen Mom,’ and currently sells real estate and is a hairdresser.)
In addition, Tyler Baltierra spoke about the current state of ‘Next Chapter’ this week during his appearance on The Southern Tea podcast.
“We are waiting on MTV to figure their thing out,” he said. “Obviously, [the network] got bought out. There’s a lot of talks going on right now it’s all very up in the air…I’m not made if it [the show] stops. I’ll ride the train until it stops.”

In a way, it might make sense that Cory knows things that the other cast members do, since he has other MTV contacts through The Challenge. Cory is an attention seeker, but I can’t really see him making something up that is completely untrue.

This show has long since run its course. It should have been cancelled years ago.
I hope this is true so all these (mostly) grifters have to get actual jobs
