Barbara Evans announced on Tuesday that her daughter, Jenelle, has banned her from communicating with Jace, the 16-year-old grandson Barb raised for the majority of his life.
In an interview with TMZ, Barb— who is currently in the middle of a nasty custody battle for Jace with the fired Teen Mom star— stated that she is no longer allowed to visit or even talk to Jace. (As The Ashley previously told you, Jace has been at a mental health facility since late February.) While Barb had previously visited Jace and called regularly, she says that Jenelle has now cut contact off between her and Jace, something The Ashley’s sources confirm to be true.
“This happened about a week or two ago,” The Ashley’s source said.
The Ashley’s source also confirmed that it’s not just Barb who has been cut off. Currently, no one is allowed to call Jace now except for Jenelle.
Barbara told TMZ that she still calls the facility twice a day, despite not being allowed to speak to her grandson.
“She calls the facility every morning and night, asking staff to pass along messages to Jace — telling him she loves him and urging him to ‘hang on,'” TMZ reports. “Barbara believes Jace is struggling without being able to communicate with her … which is why she continues checking in daily and asking staff to reassure him she’s okay.”
Jenelle— who lives in Las Vegas— was recently in the Carolinas, and apparently visited Jace in the facility.
The Ashley’s sources tell her that, despite Barb having her communication with Jace cut, she is still fighting hard to regain custody of Jace. (As fans know, Barb had custody of Jace from the time he was a baby until she signed him back over to Jenelle when he was 14.)
According to court documents, a custody mediation orientation was held on Monday in which all three parties involved— Jenelle, Barbara and Jace’s dad Andrew Lewis— had to participate. (Jenelle attended via video conference from Las Vegas.)
They will next attempt mediation, and follow that up with a court hearing on April 13. (Barbara, Jenelle and Andrew are all required to attend.)
“Barbara is supposed to be getting visits with Jace, according to the custody agreement she has with Jenelle from when Barb signed custody back to Jenelle,” the source added. “Currently, though, it is up to Jenelle where Jace goes.”
However, Jenelle cannot bring Jace anywhere that her reinstated soulmate David Eason will be. Currently there is a restraining order barring David from being around Jace, due to the fact that David is still facing criminal charges for felony assault by strangulation and child abuse for allegedly assaulting Jace in 2023. Over the last few months, Jenelle has visited The Land— the home she shared with David in North Carolina— and had David visit her in Las Vegas several times.
After the TMZ story was posted on Tuesday, Jenelle seemed to be responding to it with a comment made to social media.
“Doing what’s in the best interest of my children,” she wrote.
Jenelle got absolutely eaten up in the comment section of the post, with the bulk majority of people suggesting that Jenelle rarely does what’s in the best interest of her kids.
“Well Jenelle after 16 years of putting yourself first, I’d sure hope so,” one person wrote.
“About time,” someone else commented. “Only took you 17 years to do this.”

I’m amazed at all the ways Jenelle fails Jace. It’s so easy for her to do, and has nothing to do with Jace’s well-being. It’s all about getting at Barb and ‘winning’ over Barb.
I hope this backfires spectacularly on her & UBT next court date. And you just know UBT is egging her on to destroy her son. What a POS.
I’m really worried for Jace. He’s getting closer to 18 and these episodes of acting out plus sh*t decisions from his biological mother must be so debilitating. I’m worried he’s running out of time to get under control and feel IN control of his own life before he runs into the law as an adult 😔 Good one Jenelle.
He doesn’t want to talk to her, so, she retaliates and makes sure she’s the ONLY person he can talk to.
Barb moves to do something, Janelle becomes reactive and takes Jace away and doesn’t let her have updates to punish her mother.
She takes away his medical care, his meds, his access to his home… and… she’s back with the guy going to court for abusing her kids, the guy with the rap sheet 900 miles long… She’s fucking with a witness.
I hope with everything I have that the judge has some sense with this THIS TIME. For fucks sake… this abusive mindgame shit is exactly why we’re at this point.
I wish the court had all her behavior laid out, online, news, footage… it’s all there. the changing stories, the obvious retaliation, coaching, lies, drug use, neglect…
The kid found out Janelle was back with the man who tried to kill him… he had a mental crisis because of it… come ON North Carolina! Don’t fail this kid AGAIN. He’s at the point he will never not suffer… but…he’s still got time to have treatment, and make some kind of life.
Does anyone know the name of the hospital Jace is in? I say we start a massive letter-writing campaign to send him wishes of support so that he knows that there are people pulling for him, especially since he’s never gotten that from the evil witch that calls herself his “mother.”
No, we should not. His location should not be doxxed, he’s a minor, and he doesn’t need absolute strangers communicating with him. That’s just really weird.
Tbh delujenelle is really just shooting herself in the foot. Custody courts look at isolation of the only consistent parent Jace has ever had (Barb) being blocked from visiting him) while his egg donor fucks off to play happy family picnic again with his abuser she accused of various atrocities but has suddenly forgotten about now that she’s sleeping with him again, and they’re not gonna be like “wow, she’s doing great for the whole year and a half she’s had this kid in her custody! She should keep him!” Especially if she’s also isolating him from not only Barb but everyone else. That proves intent to isolate him to keep him away from anyone from the “outside world.” Why doesn’t this poor kid have a GAL? Someone with his actual best interests and actual power needs to step up.
So she dumps Jace off with her mom last year, has no communication with him, then suddenly wants to control who he talks to? All to get back at her mom? I hope she loses custody of all her kids.
Words cannot express the hatred I have for her. Poor Jace. When does he finally turn 18? I have hope it’ll change his life. When he can say no to Jenelle.

Using her “power” of full custody to cause Jace pain and suffering and to break him away from the only mother he’s ever had is 100% abuse. She is a nasty person. All the pain and heartache Jace and Barb have suffered has seriously been primarily due to Jenelle. My heart hurts for Barb and Jace.
Barb should have done this to Jenelle 16 years ago.

Jenelle is an absolute monster… you think she can’t get any worse and then she does this, cut off contact between her mother and her severely troubled son, when Barbara is the only person whose ever truly cared for him. Poor Jace is probably freaking out, she doesn’t care what she’s doing to him, as long as she gets back at Barbara. She’s sick and sadistic. The court will see what she’s doing. She needs to be held accountable for this outrageous mental abuse on Jace.
I think it has more to do with Jenelle being back with David and putting Jace in mental hospital will likely be her way of getting Jace’s story of abuse swept under the rug in court-she will try to say Jace isn’t stable and can’t be trusted, when in fact she and David are the liars!
