As “Jersey Shore Family Vacation” comes to an end, Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino has revealed that his post-show plans may include a future run for New Jersey governor.
The MTV star spoke about his political aspirations over the weekend while attending an event for VUE Magazine. While Mike– who, along with wife Lauren Sorrentino appear on the cover of the magazine’s spring edition– spent much of the event discussing the Archangel Centers that he and Lauren founded to help those struggling with addiction and mental health issues, Mike went on to reveal that he’s also planning to run for political office in the near future.
“I’d like to save lives for the next three to five years with Archangel Centers, I’d like to have an Archangel Center in every [one of the] 50 states,” Mike told New Jersey’s News 12. “After that, you know, I’ll introduce everybody to Governor Situation.”
As fans of ‘Jersey Shore’ know, Mike previously battled an addiction to pills, though he has maintained his sobriety for a decade. Mike and Lauren have opened multiple Archangel Centers to-date, providing help to adults and adolescents ages 12 and older by focusing on holistic healing and offering recovery services including detox, therapy, group support, aftercare and more.
When pressed at the VUE Magazine party on what political party he plans to run under when the time comes for him to throw his [GTL] hat in the race, Mike said the public would have to wait and see.
“I can’t announce it yet, but I think the residents of New Jersey would like no property tax,” he added.

While Mike and the rest of his ‘Jersey Shore’ castmates have been hinting at a possible return to TV– potentially on another network or streaming service– Mike told News 12 that he would be “putting his reality TV career on pause to focus on opening more [Archangel] Centers” and then focusing on “his political career.”
Mike isn’t the first reality TV star to express an interest in running for public office this year. One week into 2026, Spencer Pratt of “The Hills” fame officially kicked off his campaign for Los Angeles mayor, while confirming on social media that he had filed the required candidate paperwork and launched his campaign website.
A week after Spencer launched his political campaign, former “Teen Mom” star Farrah Abraham announced her plan to run for mayor of Austin, Texas. Unfortunately (but very on-brand), the self-proclaimed Top Female Celebrity in Our Nation made the announcement and launched her candidate website without checking when the mayoral race actually began, resulting in her finding out during a live interview with TMZ that elections for Austin’s next mayor weren’t for another two years!

In true Farrah fashion, the Backdoor Teen Mom tried to play off her mistake and blame the people at Austin’s City Hall.
As you do…
“I’m running local right now, so local is a little different than federal!” Farrah later insisted to TMZ’s Harvey Levin upon learning that the next race for mayor of Austin isn’t until 2028. “I did say that my hope, after running local, is for district which is 2028. I do have hopes of running for district, but for right now, I’m going to stay in a non-partisan category, which is mayor.”
After more back and forth (and confusion, on Farrah’s part) Farrah seemingly accepted that she had no idea what she was talking about was wrong about the mayoral race in Austin, before insisting that everything was totally fine.

“I love that I jumped the gun!” Farrah said of her premature political announcement. “ … if someone misinterpreted their [date] and told me that, that’s OK too!”
Farrah went on to revise her campaign plan and soon announced that she is actually running for Austin City Council District 5. While, her AI-slop of a candidate website still states that she is running for mayor, it may be another case of Farrah “jumping the gun,” as she claimed on an episode of Harry Jowsey’s Boyfriend Material podcast in April that, while she’s currently running for city council, she still plans to run for mayor in the future.
