Late ‘Storage Wars’ Star Darrell Sheets Reportedly Left Behind Suicide Note That Mentioned Cyberbullying

Trigger Warning: This story contains mentions of suicide.

New details about the death of Storage Wars star Darrell Sheets reveal that the 67 year-old left behind a suicide note that mentioned his ongoing struggle with cyberbullying.

As The Ashley previously reported, the A&E star was discovered by police in his Lake Havasu, Arizona, home in April with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

On Wednesday, TMZ reported that detectives from the Lake Havasu City Police Department found a handwritten note tucked inside of a black basket in a bathroom closet near where Darrell was found dead in April. In the incident report, police summarized that the note read, “I could not take anymore [of] the Facebook bulling [sic], f**k you [redacted].” The incident report adds that the handwriting of the suicide note appeared shaky.

As you may remember, a month before his death, Darrell had posted several alarming updates on social media, claiming that he was being cyberbullied by specific people, whom he named in multiple posts. In two different posts from March, Darrell even notified friends and family that “if anything happens” to him, these specific individuals would be behind it.

“Well people here is my cyber bully [sic] stalker just letting people know if anything happens to me this [is] him,” Darrell wrote, before naming the two individuals he claimed had made social media accounts to impersonate and harass him. Darrell also alleged that one of the individuals had “extorted money from many people in this town acting like a handyman” for three years.

In another social media post from March, Darrell again wrote about the two individuals he claimed were impersonating and harassing him, telling followers he was “extremely sorry and sick over this.”

“These people have ruined me and he said he would,” Darrell wrote. “Please understand that it is not me. People are showing up to my work and wanting to harm me. The police are aware of this but [their] hands are tied because Facebook allows this and it is very bad. If something happens to me it was [name redacted by The Ashley] and his wife.”

Shortly after Darrell’s death, the Lake Havasu City Police Department confirmed in a statement to TMZ that officers were aware of the “cyberbullying accusations” Darrell made before his death, noting that the claims were “part of the active investigation.”

According to USA Today, police interviewed a man identified in the incident report as Darrell’s alleged online bully, with investigators claiming the man was “extremely uncooperative” and denied having any involvement in Darrell’s death. The man also insisted that he was “nowhere near” Arizona at the time of Darrell’s death and claimed that he had been receiving “death threats.”

In addition to the suicide note that was found, the incident report states that Darrell’s girlfriend informed detectives that on the night of Darrell’s death, he couldn’t sleep– something he struggled with often– and got out of bed in the middle of the night. Moments later, his girlfriend found him in his office and he allegedly told her to “go back to bed.” Shortly after, she heard a gunshot and proceeded to call 911.

Darrell’s girlfriend also told detectives that there had been some family tension in the days leading up to Darrell’s death, as the ‘Storage Wars’ star’s only child, son Brandon Sheets (who also appeared on the A&E show), had visited and the father and son got into a verbal argument over “family drama.” Darrell’s girlfriend later told detectives that Darrell and Brandon’s arguments became so bad at one point during the visit that she left the house, as Brandon was allegedly yelling at Darrell. She also claimed that Darrell told her that he didn’t want to be alone with Brandon and was left “sad as hell” after his visit, as he felt he had let his son down.

The incident report also mentions text messages that Darrell received around the time of his death from his daughter-in-law accusing his girlfriend of being “suspicious” and of stealing money from him, which had allegedly left him visibly upset.

Despite the reported rift between Darrell and his son at the time of his death, Brandon posted a tribute to his father in May, telling fans that his heart was “so broken.”

“ …. I love you Dad and I will do my best to live in your honor and respect our Family,” he wrote in part.

Brandon also confirmed on his dad’s Instagram page last week that he will “continue to keep [Darrell’s] page current” and “open to all who love [his] father.”

Darrell– who went by the name “The Gambler”– starred on ’Storage Wars’ from its first season in 2012 until Season 15 in 2023. At the time of his death, he was running an antique store in Lake Havasu.
