After spending over a year in prison, Nathan Griffith is officially a free man. 

The Ashley can exclusively reveal that the ‘Teen Mom 2’ dad was released from the Southern Desert Correction Center in Nevada on Thursday. As The Ashley previously told you, Nathan was approved for parole back in May, with his earliest release date being July 16. 

While Nathan is no longer living that three-hots-and-a-cot prison lifestyle, he is still under the watchful eye of the parole department. If the terms of his parole have remained the same since last year, Nathan is to be supervised on parole for up to 24 months.

Now that Nathan’s been sprung from the clink, he will be able to reunite with his wife, May Oyola, who has stood by his side— despite the fact that he was very publicly cheating on her during their marriage. In fact, May spoke at Nathan’s parole hearing in April, pleading for her man to be released so that they can rebuild their marriage.

In video posted earlier this week from Nate’s April parole hearing, the former soulmate of Jenelle Evans pleaded to the board to let him out, claiming he’s a changed man who is sober and very “regrettable” for his actions.

If you’re having a hard time keeping track of all of Jenelle’s baby daddies’ court cases, allow The Ashley to give you a refresher on Nate’s crimes. He pleaded guilty last year to a charge of “Battery Constituting Domestic Violence- Strangulation” as part of plea agreement. That charge— which is a felony— stemmed from Nathan’s arrest in April 2025 for strangling his then-girlfriend Anastasia Biddle. At the time of his arrest, Nathan was already on probation for strangling his sister in 2023, and had failed out of multiple rehab and veteran’s court programs over the last few years.

In more video exclusively obtained by The Ashley showing Nathan’s April 2026 parole hearing, Nathan talks about Anastasia, and expresses how sorry he is that he cheated on May with her. 

“I don’t want any contact,” Nathan said when asked by a member of the parole board what his status with Anastasia is. (He is currently legally barred from contacting her, by the way.)

“It was a disaster for my life,” Nathan continued. “I left my wife and I cheated on her, which I’m very ashamed of.

“My wife did take me back and is a great support system,” Nathan said while sobbing. “I’m sorry, I’m a crybaby, so I apologize for that. I just want to continue my life and continue my faith. I do want to go to vocational [school] and be a masonry. I’ve also always wanted to do something in the religious field or be a mentor to younger people.

“I do have a great fortitude of insight when it comes to the brain, psychology and stuff,” Nathan insisted.

Nathan said it’s always been his goal to do something with rehabs.

“That’s always been my goal for the last few years, but I hadn’t gotten a grip on things, and I kept having these slips with alcohol,” Nathan said. “When I came here, I was like, ‘You know what, this is a wakeup call; I need to do something.’ Because my withdrawal symptoms— and my family knows about this and my wife— they were so bad…I was shaking really bad and stuff.

“I kept on quitting; I kept on trying to go to rehab and stuff,” he added. “So, when I came in here, I was forced to get sober.”

Nathan said that, while there were plenty of drugs and alcohol available inside the prison, he stayed away from it, preferring to stay on his bunk and speak to May or his family on his tablet. He (very frantically) explained all this to the parole board.

At that point, the parole board rep cut Nathan’s blabbering off.

“Mr. Griffith! Take a breath!” she said. “I understand. You’ve stated everything, and you’re restating things. Just take a breath.” (You can watch that scene below.)

 

Once Nate calmed down a bit, he was informed that his Risk Assessment Score was a 7, which means they believe he has a “moderate risk” of reoffending. The parole board commissioner went on to acknowledge that Nathan was drunk at the time of his offense, but stated his actions had a big impact on the victim.

“You put your hands on somebody and caused them significant issues, and concerns with their safety,” she said, adding that Nathan does have support within the community, including his wife, and the Hope for Prisoners program.

May then addressed the board, saying that her marriage to Nathan has “experienced both highs and lows.”

“But we have chosen to continue working on our relationship and giving our marriage a second chance,” she said. “Throughout everything, I have come to know him as someone with a very kind heart and a caring nature, who is always willing to help others as much as he can.”

May went on to remind the board that Nathan is a “100 percent disabled vet” who has had “significant personal growth” in recent times.

(Nathan suffered a traumatic brain injury during his military service in the Marines Corp.)

“He has reflected deeply on his past and the choices that he made,” May said. (You can watch her speech in the video below.)

“I believe that many of the poor decisions that he made earlier in his life were influenced by difficult life experiences and unresolved personal traumas,” May stated. “However, I have also seen his sincere efforts to learn from the past and become a better person. His faith in God has become very important in his life, and in my life too, and it has helped guide him to personal reflection and positive change.

“Many times, we speak about how difficult moments in life can also be part of a greater purpose, and an opportunity to grow and become better.

“He has a strong support system waiting for him,” May assured the parole board. “He has the unconditional support of his family, my own support, and most importantly the love of his children, who care deeply about him and love him unconditionally.”

(As ‘Teen Mom’ fans know, Nathan is the father of Jenelle’s middle son Kaiser. Nathan also has a daughter from a previous relationship whom he has not had contact with for years.)

“I honestly know how much he hopes for the opportunity to rebuild his life and be present for the people who love him,” May continued. “I believe that everyone deserves the opportunity for a second chance and mistakes should not define a person’s entire life.”

“I am committed in supporting him in rebuilding a stable, positive and law-abiding life,” May stated. “As a family we have many plans for the future and look forward to rebuilding our life together… I sincerely hope the board will consider giving him the opportunity to that he can move forward and contribute positively to society.”

The commissioner told Nathan that, as a disabled vet, he has more resources than the average person, but he still blew all those chances. She also reminded him that his habit of strangling women will likely lead to someone’s death eventually. 

“For you to be in prison with those resources is kind of sad that you let yourself spiral down and down, but again, it’s what took you hopefully to reset and understand you were on a very destructive path that luckily didn’t take somebody’s life,” she said. “Because it easily could have.”
