‘Teen Mom’ alum Nathan Griffith remains locked up in a Nevada prison— despite being approved and eligible for parole since last week.

In his latest prison mugshot— exclusively obtained by The Ashley— Nate looks glum (and nearly unrecognizable) from the time he spent on MTV.

Nathan— who is one of Jenelle Evans‘ three baby daddiii— has been incarcerated since the spring of 2025 after his arrest for strangling his then-girlfriend violated his parole (for strangling his sister in 2023.) Back in April, Nathan (as well as his wife May Oyola) pleaded his case to the parole board, begging for him to be approved for parole. Weeks after Nathan’s parole hearing (in which he made a very impassioned speech— more on that later), the parole board approved Nathan for parole after July 16.

As of press time, however, Nathan remains behind bars in a medium-security men’s prison in Nevada.

As The Ashley previously reported, Nathan was sentenced in May 2025 to a minimum of 12 to 14 months, with a maximum sentence of 48 months for each charge. While his parole eligibility date was July 16, 2026, he legally doesn’t have to be released until his mandatory parole date of November 6, 2026.

The Ashley also obtained footage of Nathan’s parole hearing back in April, in which the ‘Teen Mom 2’ dad dramatically dramastically pleaded his case to the parole board. In the footage, Nate explained that he is very remorseful for his past actions— which include the strangling of at least three women and a long history of alcoholism. 

Nathan explained to the parole board that he is determined to “be a better individual for when I leave prison.”

Nathan also stated that he has come to terms with the dark path his life has taken over the last decade, claiming he “succumbed to his shortcomings.” 

“I have failed in my decision-making,” Nathan said. “I have failed in numerous of things I have done in life. And I have failed as a human. Words cannot express how regrettable I am in for my decisions and actions.”

(And, no, those aren’t typos— Nathan is still busting out his “dramastic” use of the English language with his trademark phrase “numerous of things,” etc.)

“Over the last few years, I became so pathetic that I didn’t care about myself or anything, not even my life,” he added.

As ‘Teen Mom’ fans will remember, Nathan is the father of Jenelle’s son, Kaiser. Jenelle has stated that Kaiser and Nathan speak on the phone.

In his speech to the parole board in April, Nathan mentioned that his loved ones wrote letters on his behalf to encourage the board to approve him for parole. (It is unknown if Jenelle wrote a letter.) 

“I’m sure the parole board has received a few letters describing who I was in my former years, of how great of a person I was,” Nathan said. “We can sit here listening to the many marvelous things I have done and accomplished, or how nice, kind and charitable I am.”

“But the attributes and accomplishments did not land me here in prison,” Nathan continued. “My lack of insight and compassion, and selfishness has put me here. I was hurting so intensely inside that I couldn’t manage my pain nor myself.”

Nathan— who has been arrested many times for DUI and other alcohol-related offenses— then brought up his struggle with alcoholism.

“Long before I came to prison I was having problems and I started masking them with alcohol,” he said. “That only made things worse. I became selfish, less empathetic and had an egocentric attitude, believing I was always right.”

“The sad thing is, I was aware of this and I started seeking help but I was well-involved in my alcoholism and I refused to permanently leave it alone,” Nathan explained. “Once again, it was everyone else’s fault and not mine— at least that was the false narrative I was telling myself.”

Nathan– who had spent his pre-prison days going to the gym and posting love-bombing Instagram photos of his then-girlfriend— seems to be keeping himself busy while locked up. During his parole hearing, Nate told the board that he has completed 11 certificates while in prison, including one from a Trauma, Shame & Resilience program. He also completed a 26-hour “Victim Impact” course and the National Anger Management Association (NAMO)’s “Men Overcoming Violence” program.

In addition, Nathan stated he took two other anger management courses, a “Common Sense Parenting” class, a financial stewardship class, and underwent cognitive behavioral therapy while in the clink.
