Nathan Griffith is officially heading to prison.
The Sun broke the news that the former Teen Mom 2 dad was sentenced to a minimum of 14 months in prison (with a maximum sentence of 48 months) during a court hearing in Las Vegas on Wednesday.
As The Ashley previously told you, Nathan— who is the baby daddy of Jenelle Evans— pleaded guilty earlier this month to a charge of “Battery Constituting Domestic Violence- Strangulation” as part of plea agreement. That charge— which is a felony— stems from Nathan’s arrest in April for strangling his then-girlfriend Anastasia Biddle. At the time of his arrest, Nathan was already on probation for strangling his sister in 2023, and had failed out of multiple rehab and veteran’s court programs over the last two years.
According to The Sun, Nathan cried during his hearing and “pleaded for leniency, but the judge said he had been in her courtroom too many times for that.”
“The judge told him ‘You are a danger to others and you’re going to kill someone,'” the outlet reports. “Nathan’s attorney really tried everything he could, but the judge said she had given Nathan enough chances, and that this wasn’t even his first probation violation.”
The Sun stated that Nathan’s sister (and 2023 attack victim) Heather was in the courtroom at the time of his sentencing, as was Anastasia and Nathan’s wife May Oyola, whom he is still married to despite him having been in multiple extramarital relationships. According to The Ashley’s sources, Jenelle was not present at the hearing.

As The Ashley reported, Nathan’s assault on Anastasia was at least the third time the former ‘Teen Mom 2’ star has been charged with strangling a woman. In addition to his 2023 assault on his sister, Nathan was charged with committing “Domestic Battery by Strangulation” in February 2023 for an attack on a girlfriend in Palm Beach County, Florida. (He was dating this girl while “on break” from his marriage to May.) His charges for that incident were dismissed, due to the victim not cooperating. He was also arrested for domestic violence against Jenelle during their relationship, in addition to multiple alcohol-related offenses.
Despite this, The Sun‘s source stated that the private attorney Nathan hired tried his best to keep the disgraced MTV star out of prison.

“His attorney tried to use Nathan’s military service in asking for a lighter sentence or to try to serve some of the sentence out on probation but the judge basically was like ‘We’ve tried everything here,'” the source said. (Nathan served in the U.S. Marine Corps. and suffered a traumatic brain injury and PTSD from his time in the military.)
“They tried different programs to put him in, they’ve tried rehab, they tried halfway houses, they’ve tried so many things with him,” the source for The Sun stated. “The judge was just like ‘We tried everything and we can’t anymore.'”
Still, The Ashley can exclusively reveal that the judge has recommended Nathan for two separate programs to participate in while he serves his time. The first is Nevada’s “184 Program.” According to the state’s Department of Corrections website, the “184 Program” is designed for inmates with substance abuse issues. Operated by the Nevada’s District Courts, the program helps inmates address their substance abuse issues, while preparing them for reentry into the community, all while being supervised.
Nathan has also been recommended for the “Hope for Prisoners” program, which helps inmates get ready to transition from prison life back into society by giving them job-training, mentorship and other resources.
Nathan has been created for time served already, and has the possibility of being released for good behavior.
Jenelle and Anastasia have not yet commented on Nathan’s sentence; May, however, posted a photo on Wednesday of flowers she recently received from Nathan.

Although she’s been quiet about Nate’s sentencing, Jenelle immediately took to TikTok to defend Nathan after his arrest, with his former soulmate stating that she didn’t believe that Nathan got physical with his girlfriend, and that Anastasia was just as much at fault for what happened as Nathan was. (Jenelle— who shares son Kaiser with Nathan— even offered Nate a place to stay on the night the cops were looking for him.)
The Ashley obtained the arrest report, as well as the domestic violence report, from the night Nathan was arrested and it tells a different story than the one Jenelle told on TikTok in defense of Nathan.
According to the report, Anastasia told the cops that Nathan had been drinking for the few days leading up to the arrest and that he had “started to become aggressive with her.” (Nathan has been arrested for numerous alcohol-related crimes over the years, and was not supposed to be getting drunk, per his 2023 probation terms.)

“Today [Anastasia] told [Nathan] that they were breaking up and she got in her car to call his mom [Doris Davidson],” the report states. “While [Anastasia was] on the phone with his mom, he came out to the car and took her phone away from her, later giving it back.”
Anastasia stated that she remained in the car and Nathan went back inside the home and called her.
“[Nathan] begged [Anastasia] to come back inside of the house and cuddle with him one last time and [Anastasia] agreed, as long as [Nathan] would leave,” the report states. (Nathan had been staying at Anastasia’s mom’s house with her, by the way.)
“While on the bed laying down, [Nathan] got on top of [Anastasia] and grabbed both of her arms. At one point, he let go and wrapped both of his hands around her neck and strangled her for a couple of seconds. [Nathan] would let go of her neck and grab [Anastasia’s] arms again. [Nathan] repeated this approximately three times. [Anastasia] was finally able to leave the residence and call the police.”

Despite Nathan (and later Jenelle) claiming that he didn’t get physical with her, the cops noted some wounds on Anastasia’s body.
“I observed reddening and multiple marks on [Anastasia’s] neck, as well as reddening on her right bicep area,” the officer wrote. “Photos were taken of the injuries.”
The Ashley will continue to update this story. Stay tuned…

Hebrew 13:5: “I will never leave you, nor forsake you”, yet here he is playing house with another woman (and this isn’t even the first!) and expecting for May to take him back… which she continues to! SMH. She’s a dummy too! I’m glad he’s in prison! He would kill someone clearly! And way to continue playing the “I served my country” card. Yeah, a TBI can be an excuse for some behavior but not all and if his TBI is THAT bad, then he shouldn’t be out on the streets with the rest of us because clearly he has the capability to hurt or even kill someone. My best friend had a major TBI (and not to mention serious trauma as a child) and it actually made her mellow out. She also was in the actual ICU for WEEKS… She has never used it as an excuse (except her memory loss) and definitely has never been violent and used it as an excuse. SMH
“You are going to kill someone, so I’m going to give you the lightest sentence possible.” Sounds about right.
My predictions:
Nathan gets deep into religion and sobriety, and May thinks he is a changed man, so she gets back together with him 100%.
When he gets out of jail he will be cocky, and act like a walking inspiration, but ultimately he will drink/strangle a woman again. Probably, May…. I also suspect it will be his most violent crime yet. I think he will crash out within the first year of being released.
People with traumatic brain injuries and PTSD related to military experience is are well known for having anger outbursts that often cannot be corrected with traditional therapies and medication alone. It takes intensive interventions along with long-term support. The prism system is not equipped to actually create substantial changes for people like this. But at least it’s a harm reduction to the community that he lived in.
Yes, I believe this. It’s so sad. If the person isn’t getting the type of help they need, they could actually take someone’s life. Maybe even multiple people’s lives. Maybe even their own but that’s normally after they’ve already attacked many others. The proper help needs to be given but I know it would be a lifetime of help and the person must be diligent and persistent. Nathan needs to completely give up drinking. He needs to stay away from alcohol at all costs.
I have a brain injury which took out the entire right side on my brain, but I don’t go around strangling people, so that’s nothing more than a desperate excuse.
I have CPTSD. It makes me extremely uncomfortable to be around people when they use certain tones or I think a man around me is becoming angry, I hide. I don’t strangle anyone. I also have a myriad of mental health issues.
Anybody else wonder if his new prison husband will choke him?
Poor Kaiser.
Color me cynical but I don’t think he’ll be any better after prison.
MTV, hear me out. It’s possible that Bar and Nathan will serve time in the same prison. Maybe they could be cell mates and ya’ll have a new show! Both horribly abuse women and, yet, have managed to escape consequences until now. Bar will probably have more problems due to his small size.
LOL!! “Prison Husbands”.
A new spinoff to save the dying Teen Mom franchise! MTV will be all over that!
about time they lock him up in actual prison, hopefully this is his wake up call and he gets the help he desperately needs for his ptsd but the AUDACITY he had to ask for leniency after all that ☹️ and ofc jenelle’s gonna defend him since she cares for him so much all of a sudden and i wouldn’t put it past her if she takes kaiser to prison to see nathan and normally i wouldn’t see it as a huge problem but that poor child has been traumatized enough by both those a$$h0les
What complete bullshit.
“The judge told him ‘You are a danger to others and you’re going to kill someone”
Thank you Captain obvious. Way to not do anything to prevent that from happening. And the “184 program” will do nothing. As they themselves stated “they’ve tried everything, Rehab, halfway houses” and God knows what else. So why would they think this will miraculously work?
The “Hope for Prisoners” gives him “job-training, mentorship and other resources.” What do Nathan’s multiple abuse victims get? Do you think they have job training, counseling, self defense classes, mentorship and other resources? Nope. The abuser gets the resources that he will squander away.
Fuck his crocodile tears.
AGREE! This is a super light sentence. And statically his odds of murdering someone is SO HIGH. He IS a threat to the community. He’s already shown multiple times he has no problem breaking probation/ parole. Lock him up and throw away the key.
It’s about time somebody put his ass in jail.Hopefully, prison is next!!!
Definitely not long enough of a sentence imo but i’m glad hell be behind bars for the time being. Maybe some INTENSE therapy might do him some good while he’s in there.
Nobody gets intense therapy in jail. There’s therapists, but they’re overworked and understaffed. He’ll maybe get some sessions, but I highly doubt he’ll make the most of it.
