Get ready to dust off the trusty Duggar birthing tarp– the Forsyth Family is growing again.
On Tuesday, former ‘Counting On’ star Joy Duggar announced that she and husband Austin Forsyth are expecting baby number four.
“Coming 2027!” Joy posted to Instagram. “So much joy, so much excitement, and so much love for this little one already. God knew we needed you.”
As ‘Counting On’ fans will remember, Joy and Austin welcomed their first child, son Gideon, in 2018. Gideon’s (rather complicated) birth was featured on Season 8 of the Duggar Family’s since-cancelled TLC series. The pair went on to welcome daughter Evelyn in August 2020. The most-recent addition to the Forsyth Family, Gunner James, arrived in May 2023. (Joy also suffered a miscarriage at 20 weeks with a daughter they named Annabelle.)
When asked on social media back in March 2025 if she planned to follow in her parents’ footsteps by breaking out the (extremely worn out) Duggar birthing tarp another 16 times, Joy confirmed that she doesn’t plan to become a mom of 19. She did, however, reveal that she was open to the idea of shooting out a few more blessings before officially closing up shop.
“Not, not 19…,” she wrote. “I want to be able to effectively & intentionally raise my kids for Jesus so whatever number that is for us. Maybe 4 or 5.”

While Joy has yet to reveal her due date, it’s safe to assume that her mom, Michelle Duggar, will be by her side when she delivers baby number four. As you may remember, Jinger Duggar Vuolo shared in April 2025 that Michelle has been present for nearly all of her grandchildren’s births.
“I think that she’s only missed two [births], but each of ours she’s been there,” Jinger said, referring to daughters Felicity and Evangeline and son Finn. “Finn is grandbaby Number 37 for my parents. And that’s insane to think about.”
At the time that Jinger made those comments on her podcast, Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar had just become grandparents of 37. That number has since exceeded 40.

Jinger’s husband, Jeremy Vuolo, went on to commend his mother-in-law for not only being present for nearly all of her grandchildren’s births, but also being there to support her own children before and after their new addition arrives.
“She came a week before [our kids’ births], she stayed a week-and-a-half after and she’s fully committed,” Jeremy said. “So she comes and serves. She’s like, taking everything off of your plate every morning. I mean, she wakes up before any of us. It’s really sweet.”
So far, Jinger is the only one of Joy’s siblings to comment on her pregnancy news.
“Sooooo excited to meet this baby!!” Jinger commented on Joy’s Instagram post.

I love how apparently he told her she doesn’t wash herself while he looks even more scruffy than her now! Well, I guess they did find time to make another baby….but are they really going to stick to 4 now while their religion is telling them to not prevent a pregnancy? (I know Jinger and Jill both said they use some kind of birth control but I don’t remember Joy mentioning it…Alyssa Bates did and Whitney too as far as I know)
If they do really stop at this one or the next one, more power to her! Any even itty bitty change from how they grew up is big….(also that comment sounds like a bit of a dig to her family for me)
Another Duggar baby is hardly news 😂
