‘The Hills’ Shocker! Brody Jenner Splits with Wife Kaitlynn Carter; Reveals They Were Never Legally Married

“Does this mean I can’t be in the next music video for your super cool band, Brody?”

The marriage of Brody Jenner and Kaitlynn Carter is over…before it legally began, actually!

TMZ broke the news on Friday that the stars of The Hills: New Beginnings have split after only one year of marriage. It was also revealed that the couple doesn’t technically need to file for divorce, as they were never actually legally married in the first place!

“We’re told Kaitlynn wanted 2 things from Brody — a baby and a legal marriage — but Brody ultimately decided he didn’t want to do either, so they broke up,” the site reports. “She wanted a legal marriage because turns out they never made it official after holding a ceremony last summer in Indonesia.”

When your marriage blows up…

The couple— who have been together over six years— got hitched in June 2018. (Brody’s dad Caitlyn Jenner was a no-show to the elaborate ceremony, a topic that was discussed on a recent episode of ‘New Beginnings.’) While they said “I do,” they never made the trek down to obtain a marriage license in the United States; therefore their marriage was never legal.

Multiple sites confirm that Kaitlynn has already left the home they shared. They released the typical “celebrity split” statement (via their rep) on Friday.

“Brody Jenner and Kaitlynn Carter have decided to amicably separate,” the couple’s rep Scott Newman told Us Weekly. “They love and respect one another, and know that this is the best decision for their relationship moving forward.”

Just eight weeks ago, Brody celebrated his one-year anniversary with Kaitlynn by posting a sweet message to her on his Instagram account.

“One year ago today I married the love of my life and best friend. Cheers to us my love,” he wrote.

Since the split, both Kaitlynn and Brody have been living it up— and going without their wedding rings. Even though she and Brody have broken up, it appears that Kaitlynn will continue to appear on ‘The Hills: New Beginnings,’ as she posted a photo of herself with castmate Whitney Port on the set of the show on Thursday. Kaitlynn is still using her “married” name, Kaitlynn Carter Jenner, on her social media accounts.

  1. I keep saying Brody, Kaitlynn, and Brandon are the most interesting on the show…get rid of everyone else and give those 3 their own show. Their stories are WAYYY more entertaining than anyone else’s lame blatantly made up story line.

  2. If it was one of the Kartrashian’s getting married, he’d give his left nut to be there. Oh wait. Kris still has that in a jar somewhere and he doesn’t need it back.

      Transphobic much?!

  3. I was so shocked! Said NOBODY! I dont really care for her from what ive seen on thnb. He wasnt ready to settle down either & she was overbearing!

  4. That’s probably why Caitlynn didn’t go. She knew it wasn’t a real wedding. I don’t feel as bad for Brody knowing this was just a ceremony not an actual wedding that Caitlynn didn’t show up to.

    1. lets be honest… catelynn didn’t need to know it wasn’t a real wedding to have another excuse to not be a part of brody’s life. it is what it is.

    2. But Caitlyn walked her step daughter Kim down the isle in that sham of a wedding to Kris Humphries, and walked her again for her wedding to Kanye…and even Khloe when she married Lamar…2 out of 3 of those marriages have ended…But couldn’t attend her flesh and bloods wedding/commitment ceremony or whatever it was, when Brody asked his dad to be there. Caitlyn is a shitty human and parent. She picks and chooses her favorites, and at the time Brody wasn’t famous enough for her. Period.

  5. Er you don’t need a us marriage license to have an overseas marriage be legal in the US, was their marriage in Indonesia also not legal by Indonesian law?

    1. If you marry overseas you still need to have a legal marriage in the US. A lot of couples will go to a justice of the peace a few weeks before and then a ceremony wherever they decide to marry.

      1. My coworker got married in Australia last year and told us her marriage was legal in Australia but not in the US until they filed the marriage license here. They didn’t have to have another ceremony just pay the price for a wedding license and file the Australian license with the county courthouse. I think she said they were issued a US legal wedding license using all the info on the Australian one.
