‘Teen Mom OG’ Stars Cory Wharton & Taylor Selfridge Reveal They Lost a Baby Due to Vanishing Twin Syndrome: “I Don’t Like That People Are Calling It a Miscarriage”

Taylor Selfridge, the girlfriend of Teen Mom OG’s Cory Wharton, is opening up about her pregnancy days after revealing she and Cory were originally expecting twins.

The couple, who announced in October that they were expecting their first child together, reportedly lost one of their babies due to vanishing twin syndrome, or disappearing twin syndrome, according to Us Weekly. Last week, Taylor updated her followers on what happened via Instagram.

“I’m doing just fine,” she wrote on her Instagram story. “I’m happy, healthy, our baby is healthy. A few days after the announcement, we found out we were supposed to actually have twins, I ended up losing one of them. But on the positive side, my baby is healthy! And I’m 19 weeks now.”

After Taylor made her announcement about the second baby, the clickbait services used by a lot of the ‘Teen Mom’ girls began to post that Taylor had a “tragic miscarriage,” but the Are You the One? alum insists that is not what happened.

“I don’t like that people are calling it a miscarriage now,” she told Us Weekly. “It’s called vanishing twin syndrome or disappearing twin syndrome. We went in for a check-up on our baby and they had found a separate empty sac so we didn’t know that we had twins before that.”

Taylor went on to admit that she was upset upon hearing the news and even felt some guilt.

“I was so stressed out during the first trimester that I was afraid it was my fault that happened and that’s what I struggle with now,” she said. “Our baby is very healthy, we have no genetic issues to worry about after testing and we’re very happy about that.”

This will be Taylor’s first child and Cory’s second — he shares 2-year-old Ryder with ex-girlfriend and ‘Teen Mom OG’ star Cheyenne Floyd.

She really secured that spot on Cheyenne’s show!

  2. Why are these two even a story? They’re both narcissistic intolerable fame whores who bring absolutely nothing to the TM family. Neither one of them was a teen parent. Both were D-list celeb wannabes before they ever filmed for TM so it’s not like their lives are realistic and they certainly won’t struggle to provide for their “genetically perfect” baby once it’s born!?!

  3. Also, I don’t like how her and Cory keep bringing up the fact that this baby doesn’t have any genetic issues. That whole “OUR baby is very healthy, and we have no genetic issues to worry about”, it comes off like THEY can make a healthy baby, unlike Cory’s 1st kid with a different woman. Just say you’re happy the baby is healthy and leave it at that…I don’t like it. You never once heard Leah or Corey say anything about how happy they were that Addy or Remi didn’t have any genetic issues like Ali does. These 2 insist on shinning a light on the fact that Ryder is sick but their baby together is perfect. It’s not cool.

    1. Seems like you’re the only one comparing pregnancies. Every first time mom is relieved when they do all the bloodwork and testing for abnormalities and it comes back clear. Obviously because of Ryder, there is history of genetic defect so the doctor’s have to go deeper into testing for Taylor to make sure this baby doesn’t carry the same gene Ryder does. It’s in NO WAY a dig at Cheyenne. Stop making it about Cheyenne.

      1. They said what they said. What mom/parent do you know who is like MY BABY HAS NO GENETIC PROBLEMS! Specially bringing light to the fact that one of the other kids isn’t well. 1st time moms say the baby is healthy, and we’re happy. When people start bringing up specifics about how their baby doesn’t have genetics issues like the other kid, it’s shade. For these 2, silence is golden.

      2. They’re already treating Ryder differently than this new baby. It’s not ok. Ryder has genetic issues but our baby doesn’t.

  4. Not trying to be rude or insensitive, but if a fetus or embryo vanishes or disappears or dies in utero, isn’t that a miscarriage?… Sounds like vanishing twin syndrome is a TYPE of miscarriage, so I’m not sure why she’s trying to differentiate between the 2?…maybe the word miscarriage is harder for her to accept than the phrase vanishing twin syndrome? Either way at least the other baby is healthy.

  5. Cheyenne must be crushed at hearing this news… idc what she says or if she’s dating a Cory replacement. Shes madly in love with Corey and wanted another baby (by him). I expect her to announce her revenge pregnancy with Corey’s stand in in 3…2….1….

  6. I can’t even believe these people feel the need to report this very personal news on Instagram! What ever happened to dignity or CLASS? Please people you are parents. Act like parents.

  7. Sad about the twin, truly. Glad the other baby is doing well.
Gory met his match in fame whoredome with Taylor.

  8. Maybe she doesn’t like that people are calling it a miscarriage but that’s what it is, isn’t it? There were 2, something happened and now there is 1 left. The fact that they didn’t know there were twins doesn’t make it any less a miscarriage, many women have miscarriages even when they don’t know they are pregnant.
Maybe she can’t handle it if she thinks of it as a miscarriage?

    1. Medically speaking, those are different things. Twin resorption (or fetal resorption) is not the same as a miscarriage.

      1. Actually “medically speaking” it is a type of miscarriage. You are correct that it is a twin resorption though.

      2. Vanishing Twin Syndrome: Causes, Signs, and Effects
Vanishing twin syndrome was first recognized in 1945. This occurs when a twin or multiple disappears in the uterus during pregnancy as a result of a miscarriage of one twin or multiple. The fetal tissue is absorbed by the other twin, multiple, placenta or the mother. This gives the appearance of a “vanishing twin.” –American Pregnancy Association

  9. No one would be calling it anything if you and baby daddy got jobs and weren’t on the internet selling your storyline. The incredible self-importance of these reality tv types is so astounding, especially with her baby-daddy, to be honest I’m surprised he was able to stop taking selfies long enough to even make a baby.
