TLC’s New Series ‘Hot & Heavy’ Will Explore Relationships of Mix-Weight Couples: Watch the First Trailer!

“Who’s ready to watch yet another TLC reality series about weight?”

They say love comes in all shapes and sizes and TLC’s new show is setting out to explore one of those examples.

Hot & Heavy is a new reality TV series in which the trials and tribulations of couples in mixed-weight relationships will be shown, according to People.

The series will follow couples Joy and Chris, Kristin and Rusty, and Adrianna and Ricardo, as they work through their relationships — often forced to defend them to their skeptical friends and family, as well as the public.

“I think every girl hopes they are going to get a hunky husband, so I totally hit the jackpot,” Kristin says of her husband Rusty in the Season 1 trailer.

“Sorry, this hunk of man is all mine, ladies!”

As for Rusty, he says he loves his wife’s curves. In fact, he “wouldn’t mind” if Kristin, who weighs 329.4 lbs, gained a little more.

“I absolutely love Kristin’s size — I wouldn’t mind if she was a little bigger,” he says.

While Kristin and Rusty’s marriage is solid and the two are prepared to start a family, disagreements between the couple quickly arise as Kristin realizes she may need to undergo gastric bypass weight loss surgery in order to have a baby.

Growing up, Joy’s mom told her it would be “difficult to find love” if she were heavy, but she proved her wrong and has been happily dating her boyfriend Chris for three years.

“Take that, mom!”

“I love every inch of Joy. There are a lot of inches to love,” Chris says jokingly in the preview.

Like Kristin and Rusty, Joy and Chris have found happiness in their relationship; however, their friends and family fear that Joy’s weight will prevent her from keeping up with Chris’s adventurous lifestyle.

At more than 400 lbs., Adrianna says she always thought she didn’t deserve love, but her boyfriend disagrees, calling her “the hottest woman I’ve ever seen in my life.”

Cue the cheesy romantic music…

“We are just two people that are different sizes and I don’t feel like there should be a stigma behind it,” Ricardo says.

Despite Ricardo’s love and support, the personal attacks against the two of them have Adrianna questioning how much more she can take.

‘Hot & Heavy’ is just one of several new reality shows TLC will be premiering in 2020 that focuses on weight. Last week, the network announced ‘1000-lb. Sisters’ which will focus on the Slaton sisters, who each weigh over 400 lbs.

‘Hot & Heavy’ premieres January 7 at 10 p.m. ET on TLC. Check out a preview below!

  1. I love Christi your are so beautiful I wish you nothing but the best I don’t get the show on my tv because they took off my tlc but girl follow your heart

    1. My thoughts exactly! I think it’s probably because women don’t likely seek out chubby dudes but they marry skinny guys who dad-bod up.

  2. The one wanting her bigger and getting upset about her needing to lose weight to have a baby sound like a creep with a fetish…

    1. I actually think he has self esteem issues. Having a heavier wife/gf reduces the risk of her cheating on him. If he keeps her fat, fewer men are attracted.
