‘Bachelor’ Host Chris Harrison to Break His Silence on Recent Racism Scandal in an Upcoming ‘Good Morning America’ Interview

“When I said this would be the ‘Most Dramatic Season Ever’, this is not at all what I had in mind.”

Host Chris Harrison will make his first public appearance since announcing he was temporarily stepping down from The Bachelor following a recent racism scandal.

The longtime franchise host will discuss the controversy Thursday on Good Morning America in an interview with Michael Strahan.

As The Ashley previously reported, during an interview last month with former Bachelorette Rachel Lindsay on Extra, Chris discussed and ultimately defended Season 25 contestant Rachael Kirkconnell’s past racist behavior.

Following the disastrous interview, Chris apologized for his comments and went on to announce he was temporarily stepping back from his hosting duties on the reality show.

“This historic season of ‘The Bachelor’ should not be marred or overshadowed by my mistakes or diminished by my actions,” Chris said in his statement. “To that end, I have consulted with Warner Bros. and ABC and will be stepping aside for a period of time and will not join for the After the Final Rose special. I am dedicated to getting educated on a more profound and productive level than ever before. I want to ensure our cast and crew members, to my friends, colleagues and our fans: this is not just a moment, but a commitment to much greater understanding that I will actively make every day.”

Emmanuel Acho, author, host and former NFL linebacker, will take over for Chris as host of the Season 25 “After the Final Rose” special.

While Chris set to break his silence on the recent controversy, Rachel, who became the first Black lead on ‘The Bachelorette’ in 2017, believes ABC should “stop production” on the show until problems are resolved.

“I think they should just stop until … they get the train back on the tracks,” she said on Tuesday’s episode of her Higher Learning podcast. “You’re gonna go into another season but you still have all these issues. How have you fixed them coming into a new season? You really haven’t.”

The former ‘Bachelorette’ suggested the network “figure things out, regroup and then bring the product back to us [in] a way that we can all enjoy it the way that we used to.”

Rachel deleted her social media recently due to hateful comments surrounding the controversy and her decision to speak out against Chris and Rachael.
