Lauryn “Pumpkin” Shannon and husband Josh Efird have welcomed their second child!
The Mama June: From Not to Hot stars announced their son’s birth Wednesday on social media, telling followers she had been admitted to the hospital the previous night.
Pumpkin reported that she and Josh named their baby boy named Bentley Jameson, and he weighed in at 7 lbs. 10 oz.
“After being admitted into the hospital last night at 2-3 centimeters with heavy contractions our baby boy has finally made his debut,” Pumpkin wrote in the caption of a baby photo.
Pumpkin and Josh are already parents to three-year-old daughter Ella.
In addition to her own children, Pumpkin also has custody of her 15-year-old sister Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson, who began living with the Efirds in 2019 after Pumpkin’s mom Mama June Shannon refused to leave boyfriend Geno Doak, despite her life being in a complete downward spiral.
Pumpkin announced that she and Josh were expecting their second child in April and also revealed at the time June’s strange reaction to the news.
“I did tell my mom about the pregnancy,” she said. “At first, she’s kind of like, ‘Well, you don’t need another one.’ But she always says that. … But I think I do pretty good, as far as taking care of Ella and also managing, taking care of a 15-year-old. But [Mama is] excited.”
On the most recent season of the family’s WeTV show, both June and Geno were invited to join Pumpkin and her family for their baby’s gender reveal – a sign that things are continuing to heal for the previously estranged Shannon/Thompson crew.
Baby Bentley is the fourth grandchild for Mama June. She is also a grandmother to daughter Anna “Chickadee” Cardwell’s two children, though their mother-daughter relationship has yet to be repaired as Anna claims June never apologized for dating the man who was convicted of molesting Anna as a child.
Despite the unresolved issues, Anna and June did reunite this year for Pumpkin’s baby shower – the first time in six years that June spent time with all four of her daughters together.
