‘Little People, Big World’ Star Zach Roloff Reflects On His Upbringing & Lack of Relationship With Father Matt in New Episode Preview

“Sorry dad, I guess your invite to our housewarming party got lost in the mail.”

Zach Roloff and his family are moving (and moving on) in this week’s episode of Little People, Big World.

In a clip of from Tuesday’s episode shared by ET, Zach and his wife Tori settle into their new home in Washington with their children, as Zach reflects on his own childhood growing up on Roloff Farm.

“We’re excited for our kids to grow up here,” Zach says in the clip of their new home. “The way we got here was not good and, like, actions from other people, I think, weren’t right.”

Zach’s comments were clearly directed at his father, Matt Roloff, who announced last month that 16 of Roloff Farm’s 109 acres have been listed on the market for $4 million. At the time of his announcement, Matt seemed to blame Zach and Zach’s twin brother Jeremy for not wanting to purchase the 16 acres up for grabs on Roloff Farms themselves.

On Tuesday’s episode, Zach admits his children’s upbringing will be different than his own, though he says their upbringing wouldn’t have been the same regardless if his children were raised on the farm as he and his siblings were. He also reveals he hasn’t spoken to his father “much lately.”

“But my mom [Amy Roloff], Chris [Amy’s husband] and my dad and [his girlfriend] Caryn [Chandler] are all about to go to Arizona,” Zach added. “It’s a little strange for me, them all hanging out together in Arizona, but I’m staying out of it.”

Zach and Tori revealed to fans in October 2021 that they had relocated from Portland, Oregon, to Washington, stating at the time they hope to “never move again.”

“We said goodbye to our sweet, cozy, unique, and very green house in Portland yesterday!!” Tori posted in October. “We have had so many beautiful memories in that house including bringing our sweet bean home from the hospital, countless gatherings, and just a whole lot of love.”

Like his twin brother, Jeremy recently planted some roots of his own in the wake of the Roloff Farm shakeup, purchasing a farm with wife Audrey.

New episodes of ‘Little People, Big World’ air Tuesdays on TLC.

  1. Wow!!! I am SO impressed!!! After all these years, bratty, immature, whiny, self-entitled Zach has FINALLY found a full-time job – Professional Martyr.

He’d better watch his mouth. After all, Daddy STILL owns the rest of the farm, plus the proceeds from the sale of the 16 acres. Daddy can also revise his Will and cut him out completely.

If I were Matt, I’d leave everything to Molly. She seems to be the only one who has successfully made her own way, and doesn’t feel the need to appear on the show, or post on a blog, or write self-serving books, or promote silly, useless products.

Face it…Molly is the ONLY adult in the room!!!!

  2. Why is Matt supposed to Give a deal to his kids?
If Amy is SO worried about it. Why didn’t She give her kid her home or some of the cash Matt paid her off with??
Matt deserves to get the best price for it!!
    NOT all Matts Fault people!!!!!!!!!!!!
Like they Won’t end up with Matt’s cash when he’s Gone forever!!!

  3. In my opinion, and I have watched every episode, Matt is a selfish person. Amy and the kids helped him pay for the farm originally. Selfish people always have to have their way regardless of other peoples’ feelings.

  4. Matt Roloff has been a liar his whole life. He wanted his boys to save the farm all the way through from childhood to both of their marriages. That’s all he talked about was he wanted his boys to be on the farm & then when they wanted to buy it what does Matt do ? He causes the worst family separation by not wanting to sell to either one of them. He has treated Amy like she didn’t know anything all the entire episodes until she couldn’t take it anymore. So Matt as far as I’m concerned you want everyone to enjoy your little pitty party and feel sorry for only you. Maybe you need to think about how your sons feel because they loved growing up on that farm.

  5. I think Matt made a big mistake not selling the farm to Zach. He had always said he hoped one of the boys (Zach or Jeremy ) would want it. Now both boys have bought other places and seems happy where they are. So part of the farm will be sold to strangers and maybe Matts grandchildren will not be going there. He has lost a lot!!

  6. I have been playing catch-up on this reality show and as I get further into the seasons and episodes I become more baffled and frustrated by some of the family members of the Roloff family members and I am beginning not to like Chris.
When I first started watching the Roloff, I saw Amy as a smart educator and a mother that was completely dedicated to her children and loved them more than life itself.
Matt has always appeared to be a con artist and self centered. He reminded me of “Hilter.”
He has to control every aspect of each person’s life. I love Zach and Molly because they are so real and don’t mind speaking the truth. They are uncontrollable and don’t mind standing alone. Jeremy appeared to be more like Matt without the dictatorship personality.
Jacob has always seem to be the unhappy child.
Chris first appeared to be such a level headed man and soft spoken. He seemed to desire to remain in a neutral position with Amy and her family, but what man wants to become buddy with his fiancée ex-husband? Then I realize that he is similar to Matt. He never support Amy when it comes to Matt. To me he belittles her when he is having conversations with Matt. He always try to cleverly manipulate Amy. Amy seems to suffer from delusions and low self esteem and she’s willing to accept Chris manipulative and bad behavior just to have a man in her life. Amy needs to come into maturity and be a real woman because if she doesn’t she will find herself in the same trap and treatment that she lived under Matt.
What woman allow herself to get caught up or trapped into a relationship with your ex-husband’s girlfriend? I can see her being polite and only on a speaking term. Nothing more and nothing less.
I could not believe that Amy did not notice that Caryn was after her husband and their relationship did not start after Amy and Matt’s separation, but it started years before then. Even a one eyed person could have seen that.
Caryn is a gold digger and don’t care how she gets what she wants. She’s not in love with Matt. She is in love with his accomplishments, money and property. She is a clever and manipulative woman. I am so HAPPY that Molly, Jacob and Jeremy stepped away because their parents are messed up in the head and these children will never have a healthy relationship with their parents. I hope that Zach, Jeremy, Molly and Jacob continues living their own lives and for God sake DO NOT allow Matt and Amy to damage your children’s lives as they have to yours.
Tori gets on my nerves. She appears to be a loving mom but I don’t like the way she treats Zach and how she belittle him on national television. She is controlling and has very little respect for Zachery’s authorities over his children. She always intervene. She treats him like he is her child.
I have one more season to watch and praying that I can get through it. I get so irritated that I find myself rewinding and skipping scenes with Amy, Chris, Matt and Caryn. I enjoy more of watching the kids revolve.
WHY WOULD A WOMAN THAT HAVE BEEN MARRIED AND HAVE KIDS, CHOOSE TO WEAR A WHITE WEDDING DRESS???? BAFFLED 😯

    1. Ms. Justice – Thank you for your comment about Amy’s ridiculous wedding dress!! I too thought,”Hmmmm….divorced woman with 4 grown kids dressed like she’s a Virgin Bride??”
A lovely, tailored off-white suit (or pantsuit) with a pretty silk blouse and a charming little hat would have been far more stylish, tasteful, and classy.
Instead, she looked like she was going to a Halloween costume party. Lordy, lordy….

  7. I think Zach is so spoiled and entitled it makes me disgusted. He didn’t get his way so he is going to trash his dad and his entire childhood. I am sure he will be fine as a trust fund brat.

  8. Zach needs to keep his mouth shut. He is just like his mother–just constant against Matt. Considering he doesn’t even to appear to have much in the way of a job, of course his kids’ upbringing will be different than what he had. He is there all the time. That’s not to say Matt is perfect, but Amy just has a giant-size chip on her shoulder and Zach is the same. Getting tiresome. Zach has always come off as lazy to me, too.

  9. I am not but sound like this pretty much toxic family. Matthew dose not want to infest in his Legacy and he’s selling 16 acres now. It seems like a dick move by him and the family will pay the price for it that way. You would think Jeremy and Zach would’ve got the Acre together and try and save rolloff farm. I guess only time will tell.
