Briana DeJesus Says Kids Are “Mean” to Her Daughter Nova Because She’s On ‘Teen Mom 2’; Says Nova Can Now “Pick & Choose” When She Films

“Looks like I’m gonna have to go hook up with Kail’s new boyfriend to drum up some storylines this season if Nova won’t film!”

The kids of Teen Mom have been on-camera since their births, but now that many of them are pre-teens themselves, they’re finding that their reality TV fame is interfering with their lives.

In a new interview with Too FabTeen Mom 2 star Briana DeJesus admitted that she is struggling with how to deal with her daughter Nova not wanting to film for their reality shows. (Briana— and Nova— will appear on Teen Mom: The Next Chapter, which premieres next month.)

“Nova’s getting older. She’s basically a pre-teen now. She has her moments where she doesn’t want to film,” Briana said. “And I have to respect that. I brought her into this; she didn’t really have an option.”

She was coming out of my underage hooter anyway, so I figured, why not put a camera on it?”

“So now that she’s older, I’m letting her pick and choose when she wants to film,” Bri added.

Briana said that Nova has dealt with kids being mean to her at school because of her reality TV fame.

“I’m trying to give her as much privacy as possible because kids are mean at school and I don’t want her to go through that,” she said.

“Be right back. Gonna go threaten some 12-year-olds. Brittany! Bring me my red heels!”

Briana said it’s been hard to find a balance of being on the show and making her daughter comfortable.

“I’m struggling with that, and I’m trying to figure out what’s the best situation for Nova,” she said.

As The Ashley previously reported, Bri’s former ‘Teen Mom 2’ co-star, Chelsea Houska, left the show in 2020 mostly because she wanted her oldest daughter Aubree (who turns 13 next month) to have privacy going into her teen years.

“Chelsea was becoming more and more concerned about Aubree being on-camera, now that she’s older,” one source told The Ashley last year. “Chelsea didn’t like that her segments were becoming more and more about Aubree’s personal life and her relationship with Adam’s family. She always knew she would leave the show once Aubree reached a certain age. She didn’t want her to go through puberty on-camera and be subjected to hurtful and sometimes creepy comments from viewers.”

Aubree, Nova and some of the other ‘Teen Mom 2’ kids in their younger days…

Chelsea confirmed to E! in May 2021 that she didn’t want Aubree to feel uncomfortable.

“There were conversations that Aubree and I were having from time to time, and there came a point where I was just worried because I don’t want her to [feel] like she can’t tell me things because it’s going to be aired to millions of people or whatever,” Chelsea said.

While Briana’s co-star, Leah Messer, stated that her three pre-teen daughters “love filming,” another ‘Next Chapter’ co-star, Cheyenne Floyd, said that her five-year-old daughter Ryder has had some issues at school because of her reality TV fame.

“Ryder’s at that age right where she realizes that she’s on TV. I think for a second she thought that everybody grew up with cameras. So at school, we had to have a couple meetings to explain that not everybody has cameras following them,” Cheyenne told TooFab during the interview.

“And it was kind of hard for Ryder to understand why not. She was like, ‘I don’t get why you’re not on TV but I’m on TV.'”

  1. Poor Stella, can you imagine watching how she was conceived and mom debating with her sister whether to have her or not?
I can’t remember was she going to put her up for adoption or was she considering a abortion?

    1. She wanted to put her up for adoption, but Luis refused to sign off on it, claiming he’d help support and raise her. Clearly, we’ve seen how THAT’S gone.

    2. She wanted to have an abortion with Stella but Luis didn’t want her to, and he said he would step up to be around to help raise her 🙄

      1. Or actually she wanted to place her in adoption because she didn’t want to have to co-parent, but then later she said she had also considered abortion at first.

  2. I’d be embarrassed too if my mom were Briana. Poor Nova, and poor Stella….I bet you Stella’s going to get it worse, because Briana was an even bigger and more shameless hoe on national TV after Stella was born. Briana being their mom can’t be easy, and makes those little girls easy targets.

  3. Briana, open your eyes and your ears — your kid is trying to tell you something. She wants OFF the show, and wants to be like a normal kid. Give this kid a chance, because anyone can see what this show is doing to this beautiful sensitive girl.

Sometimes, the money isn’t worth it, and this is one of those times.

  4. Brianna has a good heart but she doesn’t seem capable of picking correct men. She was beautiful before she ever had that surgery. And what ever happened to her BFF Shirley?

    1. Can you imagine the crap they are going to get now after they both are on OF?
How embarrassing for Jace and Maryssa, hopefully the younger 2 don’t understand what it means.
I wonder what DE sisters think about their new career? So glad Olivia keeps her son away.

  5. I can just hear it.

“Your mom is the one who has a fake ass, and banged in the club bathroom and got clap on tv right?”

    Briana take note. Poor Nova.

  6. “because it’s going to be aired to millions of people or whatever,” Bwahaha! Or the 20 or so people who actually watch this boring show still. 🤣

  7. Not everything is everyone’s business.

    Her gymnastics and vacations? Sure.

Her issues with her father and how her mother talks about Devoin? No. Not at all.

  8. So asking Nova whether she should keep the baby or give it away was to make her feel comfortable? Just as “Okay, I’ll keep the baby but YOU will have to help.”

  9. Maybe I say maybe it’s time for Bri and all these Teen Mom alums to get a real job and stop displaying their family life on TV? At least Chelsea understood and put her daughter wellbeing first.

  10. It’s bc of Briana’s psychotic behavior and antics so no one is to blame for this except Briana!!!! Nova should give her mom a ultimatum about what’s more important here the show or her along with her sister!! Sadly the psycho is going to pick the show over her daughters bc she doesn’t want to lose the money and the free plastic surgeries she gets from Dr Miami!!

  11. Briana says she is struggling with what she should do. What she should do and it shouldn’t be a hard decision is to do exactly what Chelsea did. I remember Aubrey’s last season you could tell that she was VERY uncomfortable filming. They kept talking to her about Adam and she didn’t want to discuss it. So Chelsea did the right thing. Bri and Cheyenne won’t because the love the fame too much.
