5 Stories of Betrayal from Scheana Shay’s Book “My Good Side” That You Haven’t Heard Before

“My book is good as gold!”

Scheana Shay’s dealt with bullying, deception, frivolous lawsuits, infidelity and about a dozen other types of betrayal throughout her life— and she’s exposing it all in her new book!

In her new memoir, My Good Side, Scheana recounts and offers new insights on many incidents fans of Vanderpump Rules are well-acquainted with. These include her relationship with Eddie Cibrian— the actor who lied to Scheana about the state of his marriage to Brandi Glanville and cheated on them both with LeAnn Rimes; her marriage to first husband Michael Shay, who she claims nearly wiped out their shared bank account while battling a pill addiction; Scandoval and being sued by Rachel Leviss for assault; and her current husband Brock Davies having an affair while Scheana was pregnant with their daughter Summer Moon.

But these stories are just the tip of the iceberg. Here are five more stories of betrayal from Scheana’s memoir you probably haven’t heard before.

The Job Interview:

As a college student with waitress experience, Scheana was excited for the opportunity to make more money when she heard a Hooters was opening up near her hometown. She applied and was asked to interview in the trailer that was serving as the restaurant’s office while the new location was being built.

“The Hooters manager, Juan Aponte, seemed like a normal guy – he was a dad, in fact, which put me at ease. He asked routine questions and then requested that I return later that evening to try on the uniform. It seemed strange that I would have to come back at 6:15 p.m. for a ‘fitting,’ but he said that he was just so busy with interviews until then.”

For the fitting, Juan left Scheana alone in the trailer. After seeing her in uniform, he offered her a job. Months later, though, she hadn’t heard anything else about the job until the police showed up at her house.

“The officers explained that Juan was caught filming young women and girls – yes, teenage girls still in high school, as young as seventeen. He was lying through his teeth during our interaction. There was a digital camera set up in his office, and every second I spent taking off my clothes and putting on that Hooters uniform was recorded.”

Juan was later sentenced to five years in prison.

The Vindictive Coworker:

Scheana’s never been shy in detailing her relationships with celebrities including Eddie, Jesse Metcalf, and more during her self-described “Hoe-llywood” days. It was her relationship with John Mayer, though, that got her fired from her job at the cigar lounge where she met many of these celebs, including Eddie and John.

“Unfortunately, since it wasn’t always just the two of us, one of my girlfriends opened her big mouth, word got around the cigar lounge, and the wrong person found out,” Scheana wrote. “That person, who ultimately sold us out, was a girl who’d been fired from the cigar lounge for sleeping with another member. John was not a member of the L.A. club, but unbeknownst to me, he was a member of the New York club, and it was against the rules for an employee to have a physical relationship with a member, so I got fired.”

The relationship with John soon ended and Scheana wound up applying for an opening at Lisa Vanderpump’s Villa Blanca, where she worked for several years before transferring to SUR and joining the cast of ‘Vanderpump Rules.’

The Entertainment Manager:

Like most of the cast of ‘Vanderpump Rules,’ Scheana had moved to Los Angeles to make it in the entertainment industry, trying her hand at acting, modeling and singing. While she’ll never be a full-fledged pop star, Scheana’s first single “Good As Gold” has gained cult status thanks to her multiple performances of the song on the reality show, including of its “Screamo” cover in 2023.

Despite that “success,” Scheana wrote, “To this day, I haven’t earned a penny off of ‘Good As Gold,’ aside from vinyl sales,” all due to signing a deal with wrong person.

“I vividly recall one time that he took me into a notary and said we needed to take care of something,” she wrote. “He communicated that it was all standard, that he was looking out for my best interest, and I trusted him. Apparently one of those documents signed over the rights to ‘Good As Gold’ to him. I don’t presently have access to copies of that contract, if I ever did, and my attempts over the years to retain rights over my work or receive copies of our original contract have been unsuccessful.”

Scheana shared in the book that one of her goals in the wake of being released from ‘Vanderpump Rules’ along with the rest of the original cast was to find a way to make money from her music.

The Demotion (Part One):

Scheana wrote that she was never a favorite of producers and often felt she received different treatment from her castmates. In between ‘Vanderpump Rules’ Season 7 and 8, Scheana learned how much she meant to production when she was demoted.

“I let them walk all over me — for example, when I signed on to the show, the network said they might include my creative pursuits,” she wrote. “And then I barely put up a fight when they didn’t feature ‘Sex Tips for Straight Women from a Gay Man’ [her Vegas show] on ‘VPR’ or take any interest in my podcast, which was doing very well, as I’d interviewed several celebrities in my first year. Every day, no matter what I had to deal with, I would show up and do my job with a smile on my face.”

To add insult to injury, producers tasked Scheana with bringing on the show’s new cast members, Charli Burnett, Dayna Kathan, Max Boyens and Brett Caprioni. Of the four, only Charli returned for Season 9 and Scheana was back to being a full cast member.

The Demotion (Part Two):

The ninth season of ‘Vanderpump Rules’ saw Scheana and Brock welcome their daughter and reveal that he’d been previously married and had two children back in Australia. After that season wrapped, the couple set up a home in San Diego and had a small wedding there, promising producers they’d keep that wedding a secret from the rest of the cast and have a big wedding that would be featured prominently on the show.

Then Scheana was told she’d been dropped from a full cast member to a day player for the second time, and that producers only wanted Brock around for group activities.

“I was pissed,” she wrote. “It felt like a total f**k-you, especially because Brock had put himself out there for Season 9, for zero pay, only to be eviscerated on national television. And all so I could get demoted for the following season.

“At that point, there was no way we were having our wedding on TV,” she continued. “We were already married, and the producers were acting like they weren’t interested in us anyway.”

Scheana’s wedding was featured in Season 10, and she received double her day rate for each of the days the couple and entourage were in Mexico for the festivities.

  1. So in her book she states she hooked up with two people from the notebook but doesn’t state who they are… Well my cousin is in the notebook and a lot of other movies and shows.. I promise you that never happened, it’s a lie. I’m so sick of her… I do believe she is lying about a lot of the people she claims to have hooked up with.. Now I’m not saying she hasn’t hooked up with some of them but I doubt everyone she is listing. Ya know she needs to add crap so she can sell her book.. BTW I NEVER comment on these but when it involves a family member I have to speak up.

  2. Sorry I couldn’t concentrate on the professional victim stories after reading “I’m still me (no plastic surgery)”

  3. At the beginning of VPR it was easy to root for Scheana but the last season really soured me. Specifically when I watched Christina Coccas award winning video titled Lala and Scheana are bad friends and put together a timeline of all the shitty two faced bs they said leading up to and thru the last season. And I can’t with her anymore.

I am very happy for her success and baby she really wanted but what I really hate is when people, grown at that are constantly the victim in their own stories. It’s never sheeshs fault SHE WAS TRICKED INTO ALL THOSE THINGS. Sure Jan.

  4. I thank producers for not featuring ‘Sex Tips for Straight Women from a Gay Man’ [her Vegas show] on ‘VPR’.

I’ll probably end up reading this. I expect it to be like tori spellings first book, as it gives behind the scenes of a show and has good tidbits of gossip. An easy beach read.
