Lilly Bennett of Unexpected took to social media this week to share with fans what she’s been up to since they last saw her on TV.
Fans of ‘Unexpected’ may remember Lilly as part of the Season 1 cast, on which she appeared with then-boyfriend James Kennedy, the father of her daughter Aaliyah. After leaving the show and splitting with James, Lilly went on to begin a relationship with Lawrence Bishop and in November 2020, the pair welcomed son LJ. Lilly returned to ‘Unexpected’ for Season 4– this time, joined by Lawrence– and the couple went on to appear on Season 5 and 6 as well.
In her life update video, Lilly reminded fans that it’s been more than two years since she and Lawrence tied the knot and that their children are now eight and four years old, respectively, with Aaliyah recently starting 3rd grade and LJ starting kindergarten.
“I’m still a stay-at-home mom … it’s been like two weeks of me being home now [alone] for the first time in eight years and I’m just trying to find myself and what I like to do and find a hobby,” she said.
Lilly said that while she’ll “probably go to school eventually,” for now she’s “just chilling and finding myself.”
As for her husband, Lawrence, Lilly told fans he’s in the process of becoming a professional MMA fighter.
“ … He’s almost a pro MMA fighter, he’s fighting for a title in either October or November … and then he’ll be going pro,” she said.
Lilly had begun her video by giving followers an update on her mom, Kim Bennett Verity, whom ‘Unexpected’ fans may remember from the TLC series.
“My mom is doing good,” Lilly said. “I get so many questions about my mom because she’s the best ever and I don’t get to make much content with her, but my mom is good.”
Lilly went on to share that while her mom is currently doing well, Kim unfortunately dealt with a series of health issues within the last year, including being diagnosed in 2024 with Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia (CLL), which Lilly described as “a rare form of leukemia.”
“She’s good, she just has to keep getting tested for it,” Lilly explained. “ … she doesn’t currently need treatment, even though [the CLL is] there.”
Lilly went on to say that after her mom received her CLL diagnosis, she went on to be diagnosed in September with ovarian and uterine cancer, which resulted in Kim needing a full hysterectomy.
“She got through that, she’s a strong a** woman,” Lilly said, adding that her mom unfortunately learned recently that she also “has something in her sinus cavity that looks like it could be related to the CLL.” Lilly did note, however, that her mom has had a biopsy and the issue in her sinus cavity “looks good” so far.
On a more-positive note, Lilly shared this week that her mom and stepdad Glenn Verity are moving to Florida soon and will be living in a “really big, cool retirement community.” Lilly explained that Glenn is retiring soon and after the move, her mom will be working from home.
“I’m so sad, but I’m so happy for them,” she said. “With all my mom’s health stuff going on and everything Glenn has done for me and my siblings and my kids– all of us, my whole family– over the years, just being the best stepdad that could’ve ever lived.
“They really deserve this,” Lilly continued. “They really deserve to be in Florida, riding on golf carts, going and listening to music every night and looking at palm trees out of their window every day. I’m super-excited for them … .”
Lilly also assured fans that her mother-in-law, Sandy Walker, is doing well, too.
“You know that’s my bestie– my other bestie, my second mom,” she said.
