Lilly Bennett of Unexpected took to social media this week to share with fans what sheâs been up to since they last saw her on TV.
Fans of âUnexpectedâ may remember Lilly as part of the Season 1 cast, on which she appeared with then-boyfriend James Kennedy, the father of her daughter Aaliyah. After leaving the show and splitting with James, Lilly went on to begin a relationship with Lawrence Bishop and in November 2020, the pair welcomed son LJ. Lilly returned to âUnexpectedâ for Season 4â this time, joined by Lawrenceâ and the couple went on to appear on Season 5 and 6 as well.
In her life update video, Lilly reminded fans that itâs been more than two years since she and Lawrence tied the knot and that their children are now eight and four years old, respectively, with Aaliyah recently starting 3rd grade and LJ starting kindergarten.
âIâm still a stay-at-home mom ⊠itâs been like two weeks of me being home now [alone] for the first time in eight years and Iâm just trying to find myself and what I like to do and find a hobby,â she said.
Lilly said that while sheâll âprobably go to school eventually,â for now sheâs âjust chilling and finding myself.â
As for her husband, Lawrence, Lilly told fans heâs in the process of becoming a professional MMA fighter.
â ⊠Heâs almost a pro MMA fighter, heâs fighting for a title in either October or November ⊠and then heâll be going pro,â she said.
Lilly had begun her video by giving followers an update on her mom, Kim Bennett Verity, whom âUnexpectedâ fans may remember from the TLC series.
âMy mom is doing good,â Lilly said. âI get so many questions about my mom because sheâs the best ever and I donât get to make much content with her, but my mom is good.â
Lilly went on to share that while her mom is currently doing well, Kim unfortunately dealt with a series of health issues within the last year, including being diagnosed in 2024 with Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia (CLL), which Lilly described as âa rare form of leukemia.â
âSheâs good, she just has to keep getting tested for it,â Lilly explained. â ⊠she doesnât currently need treatment, even though [the CLL is] there.â
Lilly went on to say that after her mom received her CLL diagnosis, she went on to be diagnosed in September with ovarian and uterine cancer, which resulted in Kim needing a full hysterectomy.
âShe got through that, sheâs a strong a** woman,â Lilly said, adding that her mom unfortunately learned recently that she also âhas something in her sinus cavity that looks like it could be related to the CLL.â Lilly did note, however, that her mom has had a biopsy and the issue in her sinus cavity âlooks goodâ so far.
On a more-positive note, Lilly shared this week that her mom and stepdad Glenn Verity are moving to Florida soon and will be living in a âreally big, cool retirement community.â Lilly explained that Glenn is retiring soon and after the move, her mom will be working from home.
âIâm so sad, but Iâm so happy for them,â she said. âWith all my momâs health stuff going on and everything Glenn has done for me and my siblings and my kidsâ all of us, my whole familyâ over the years, just being the best stepdad that couldâve ever lived.
âThey really deserve this,â Lilly continued. âThey really deserve to be in Florida, riding on golf carts, going and listening to music every night and looking at palm trees out of their window every day. Iâm super-excited for them ⊠.â
Lilly also assured fans that her mother-in-law, Sandy Walker, is doing well, too.
âYou know thatâs my bestieâ my other bestie, my second mom,â she said.
