The Ashley can exclusively reveal that Barbara Evans has filed a motion with the Brunswick District Court in North Carolina, requesting full custody of her teenage grandson Jace, the son of fired Teen Mom 2 star Jenelle Evans.
According to court documents obtained by The Ashley, Barbara filed a Motion for Emergency Child Custody & Motion to Modify Child Custody on March 11. The ‘Teen Mom’ grandma went on to file an ex parte order the following day.
To The Ashley’s knowledge, Jenelle isn’t yet aware of this latest filing, but she will be served soon.
As you know, Jace moved away from Las Vegas– where Jenelle and her two youngest children continue to live– last year to resume living in North Carolina with Barbara, who raised the teen for most of his life.
Barbara’s filing comes just days after news broke that Jenelle sent Jace to a mental health facility, a move that allegedly happened in the aftermath of Barbara calling 911 last month after Jace erupted in anger over the news that his mom had reunited with her ex-husband, David Eason, who currently has pending criminal charges against him for allegedly assaulting and strangling Jace in 2023.
A hearing for the Temporary Custody/Motion to Modify Custody has been set for April 13. Jace’s father Andrew Lewis is also required to be at the court date, according to records.
“Barbara has been working behind the scenes to get Jace but hasn’t made it public like Jenelle has,” The Ashley’s source told her.

I have to point out that apparently no one cares about any of the gaggle of “teen” moms that MTV has exploited over the years other than the one that was fired ages ago. Fifty-seven responses to The Ashley’s latest scoop about the one and only Jenelle. But let’s not forget to credit the group of money hungry scumbags at MTV that enabled the behavior of all of these pathetic excuses for parents and that have scarred these kids for life.
All j fans love mentioning Barbara was abusive, all I remember is a mother shouting at a disrespectful, drug taking, thieving and neglectful teen mother.
If you have a teen shouting at you, taking drugs, stealing your money and keep abandoning their child so they go out partying with their mates what do you do? Pat them on the back and say well done?
Yes Barbara makes mistakes but what parent doesn’t? Barbara stepped up she gave Jace a home, love and security something his own mother couldn’t and still can’t do.
J never wanted Jace the only time she fought for him was when she was whacked up with a male, she always lied saying Barbara stole Jace which she didn’t j signed over Jace with no persuading at all.
J is responsible for her own actions and for all the ones sticking up for her, I’m worried for their children has they clearly agree with j’s parenting.
So agree with thisJenelle’s father abandoned the family,Barbra had to find away to raise the children on her own,not a easy task. Then to have to deal with Jenelle and her disregard for her mother and her own son. Years of abuse from Jenelle and random tom/ dick and harry. I hope Jace heals and Barbra finally gets peace.
Now that she is back with swamp thing he is innocent of abuse (when she wasn’t with him he was guilty). With the case coming up they mom of the year & swamp thing came up with this ploy to discredit Jace so court wont consider his testimony. The end game is to make sure Swamp thing doesnt face consequences for abusing Jace.
I believe Jenelle sold the fake story to TMZ,I believe her reasons was not only for financial gain but try and make Jace look unstable.
You know these to sewer rats put this together,much like when they showed up in a parking lot with cameras attacking Barbra ,trying to a narrative that Barbra was a drunk. Hoping that would help Jenelle get custody of Jake,it was so cruel.
A couple of things that are definitely not popular opinions on SM:
1) IMO, DeluJanelle sold that BS story about Jace threatening Barb with a firearm in order to get her version out there ahead of the truth.
2) IMO, DeluJanelle had Jace admitted to a facility long term in hopes he wouldn’t be able to testify against Sasquatch in the assault case.
3) I think there’s going to be a sh*t load of DeluJanelle’s SM posts deleted in an attempt to prevent them being used against her in a custody case with Barb. She never has grasped the concept that the internet is forever and simply deleting posts from her page doesn’t make them disappear.
It’s not going to go well. Jace is a trainwreck. Barb won’t be able to help him, and I don’t see why she wants to after all of this. Jace isn’t a little kid any more. Soon, he will be held accountable for his actions. I feel so bad for Barb.
Don’t agree with this at all. Jace has experienced trauma since he was born. Would you give up on your child if they were struggling ?- I would hope not.
Jace needs a lot of therapeutic support to help him. I am not saying Barbara is anywhere near the ideal carer from Jace but what’s the alternative – foster care? And sorry “held accountable for his actions” – any empathy at all for him???
This is sad for Barb but how about having some decency and sympathy for Jace? He was born to two losers who to this day, prioritize their own needs before his. This kid ( which he still is) sadly never had a chance.
And what exactly should he be held accountable for? Mental health issues caused by his worthless mother? Jenelle needs to be held accountable.
Jenelle was sure never given the same grace that everyone wants to give Jace. He was horribly raised, and he’s already a criminal. He’s not a child anymore. We watched firsthand how innocent children are turned into monsters by bad parenting.
Ya know, jenelle stans (and J herself), always like to bring this up- but barb wasn’t withholding therapy and meds from J and then giving her weed in it’s place as her parent. I can agree that Barb is not perfect, but quite frankly, none of us are, and we have seen over the years how Jenelle has a special ability to bring out the worst in other people while she is in the midst of destroying herself. There is no comparison between Barb and Jenelle, and most people can see this clearly.
Having manipulative family members that you HAVE to deal with to a certain point is truly a difficult thing to cope with in the first place, even without said family member having a social media platform that fuels their mental health issues and delusions. You seem to be forgetting a lot of the things that you are saying “we watched firsthand”.

Last time I checked, Barb didn’t give Jenelle drugs, ship her off repeatedly, gaslight her, and allow her to be abused by her soulmates.
Barb has issues for sure, but Jenelle would have been given plenty of grace if she ever showed an ounce of decency. Jace has shown that he gives a sh!t about his siblings and grandmother. He is also a child who we have watched be neglected and abused for, quite literally, his whole life. Of course people want to show him grace and empathy. Watching his life unfold is heartbreaking.
Are you crazy? Jace is absolutely a child! His mental issues are ALL due to his abusive mother and abusive stepfather. He isn’t a monster, he’s a boy who is so traumatized by the adults in his life, that he hasn’t even had a chance in life. Jenelle doesn’t deserve ANY grace, nor has she EVER deserved any. She is a narcissistic freak who just wants to get laid by any dirty, sick, diseased scum that looks twice at her porn that she makes her living off of. I hope she suffers nothing but cruelty from David now that she let him come back. Her other two children are in danger now, and she doesn’t even care. Hopefully, SHE will be the only one who suffers.
Jace should have some say now in who he lives with, I would think(although states vary on the age they give the teen some say)..I just hope the court does what is right and lets Barb finish raising him and hopefully get an order in place where Jenelle can’t contact him given her preference to be with an abusive man instead of parenting. Plus we all saw her very nasty texts to Jace last year, how terrible and sad for Jace. How juvenile of Jenelle, she just can’t grow up! He needs stability and hopefully lots more therapy to help him grow and heal from his childhood & break contact from his mother’s narcissistic and toxic personality. Best thing that the family can do is break all contact off from Jenelle, permanently. She is a hopeless cause at this point. Maybe with luck, Kaisar’s Grandma will do the same and file for custody. I do think she has a chance to win, particularly with David in the picture.
Jace needs to be in some intensive therapy, maybe with multiple counselors working together to address everything to give him a shot. I feel so bad for Babs but even an elderly woman who had a stroke is stepping up over fucking Jenelle’s stupid ugly whore ass. Everyone (providers/counselors/Babs etc) needs to have a meeting and figure out if Jace going to public school is in his best interest. Maybe he needs a homeschool group. I just don’t know, but I DO know everyone involved in his care should realize the window to help him process this mess and have some semblance of happiness is closing quickly.
Keep in mind that ALL of this will be brought up in court against David. Jenelle is determined to shoot herself in the foot repeatedly, so let her 🤷🏻♀️
That is truly the funniest part about this. She thinks the trauma she instilled in Jace will keep him from talking about the true monstrosities he has dealt with from her, but this is a very specific outburst revolving around well documented trauma- this facility (if it’s worth it’s marbles) absolutely WILL dig into that and press Jace to work through it while also concurrently documenting a good bit of what he says. Multiple professional opinions in regards to this will only hurt David’s case, and she is not smart enough to see it. Maybe, just maybe, if putting your son in a long term facility to discredit him was the plan, you shouldn’t have given up your spot a full 6+ months ago to try to cover up abuse, and then be dumb enough to act surprised that people can see straight through you. But hey, we know that common sense (and decency) isn’t her strong point.
From the very beginning this was about “winning” for Jenelle. Never about being a mom, never about being an adult, about “winning”. It’s never been about winning for Babs, it’s always about what is best for Jace and that meant her sacrificing her elder years to care for first an infant, than a toddler and now a teen.
Let’s say the judge awards Jenelle physical custody of Jace—then what? He’s expected to move into a house with a man how abused him? Jenelle would really put him in that position? No real mother would.
It seems Jace has always chased after love and acceptance from his mom, and just as he finally feels he can touch it, she pulls away and throw something like that big ugly ape at him. She has denied him stability and comfort and safety by threatening every week to remove him from Babs—the only home he’s ever known. He has never known from week to week where he would live or who he would have to align with to feel safe until the next week and the next fight.
Was Babs perfect? No, she wasn’t, but she has real true love for Jace (and that horrible Jenelle as well) and Jace has never known anyone in his life so loyal to him. Jenelle can’t stand that. So she would rather set Jace up to fail, just so she can blame her mother when he runs away or acts out.

Barbara should have liked for sole custody 16 and a half years ago. If it was up ti people with brains, this will be an easy win, but they may use Barbara’s stroke against her. and sometimes people think you have trouble with their cognitive capabilities. for example, ive had healthcare workers try ro lie to me, but there is nothing wrong with my cognition. What judge is going to look at the copious amounts of evidence showing how Jenelle clearly does not want to take care of Jace’s basic needs, let alone his emotional ones, and leave him under her custody?
Hopefully not an NC judge, as we have seen how seriously they take abuse of children. They take divorce more seriously, it seems to me.
Barbara had a stroke last year. She’s an elderly woman. She should have a peaceful life. Yet she needs to step up AGAIN because Jenelle is a neglectful POS.

Looks like Janelle’s sister is helping too. As Jace ages and his hormones level out, he can get on medication and mental health regimen that will help him. Being with stable family members until then is his only hope.
I am SO happy to read this! I’ve been hoping this was going on behind the scenes and because Barb truly loves Jace and wants what’s best for him, she isn’t broadcasting it for the world to see. Or, calling TMZ every day to sell them a new lie. Jenelle needs to slither back to her hole and be quiet.

I’m getting old, and have seen this type of situation play out, as have most of you. I have a pit in my stomach feeling like someone is going to end up dead or in jail, and I really hope with all of my being it isn’t Jace.

I am not saying Barb is THE optimal parental choice for Jace, but at this point at least she is fighting for him and his best interest. Not to mention with everything going on right now with Jenelle taking David back and Jenelle just being a POS excuse for a mom in general and continuing to NOT give two shits about Jace- the judge needs to let him go with Barb. My god, seriously! Kaiser is always just mentioned as a side note when he has it as bad if not worse than Jace. There is no one advocating for him as far as I can tell. People seem to forget that his situation is no different than Jace’s, only Jace has Barb and a biological father who may be a loser but is obviously more even-tempered and somewhat human.
Why don’t people think Kaiser gets it just as bad? We don’t hear about it because who would he ever tell?
There is no way she can handle Jace though. We’ve already seen this. He’ll end up killing the poor woman either physically or emotionally. Regardless of his tough upbringing, when you reach Jace’s age, you have to have accountability for your actions.

Depending on the laws, Jace should be able to have some say in who he lives with. He needs stability and therapy. The damage that has been inflicted on him is so sad. He deserves a stable home where he can recover and hopefully become a productive adult some day.

Barb gave Jace back. That’s an important distinction as is the fact she didn’t have custody of him for YEARS! I truly hate her. or maybe the judge can see video evidence of her pulling a gun with Jace in the car endangering his life and then blatantly calling him a liar. Or maybe we could pull up the records of the fact that David strangled Jace. And Jenelle let it happen. Then she went online and once again called Jace a liar and defended her wonderful husband. Barbara has recently had a stroke, is in her 70’s and trying to raise her delinquent daughters child, yet continues to be bullied & harassed by that same delinquent daughter. At this point, it’s elder abuse for what her & dirty Dave continue to put her through. She’s not perfect, but she’s a hell of a lot less psychotic than Jenelle.
With all Jenelles insane tweets that a 13 year old would post that are spread on Reddit, Barb can a load of evidence that Jenelle isn’t fit to be anyone of her kid’s mother!
Barbara needs to use all of the evidence Jenelle posted of her being with David even though there is an RO against him. Maybe Jenelle will get locked up too! I hope her and David both do!

Used Davids criminal activities against him to “win” in a divorce only to take him back. People do get back together, but not with the amount of allegations against the person. Especially when you yourself accused him of some. I truly hate this wench and hope she loses custody of all and goes to jail, staying in there for breaking orders she asked for.
I’d like to see why Jenelle thinks she should retain custody when she has already had Jace taken from her within months of finally getting custody after 14 years (only because Barb let her) and then ended up shipping him to Barb anyways. She relinquished physical custody of that kid multiple times. What evidence does she even think she has?

I think the most crucial one was when she put him on a plane alone to go live with Andrew. Even though Jace had only met him like 2 times. She didn’t take him herself to see what kind of living situation he would be in. Then she literally said he was a alcoholic after she got him back.
Barb has never been a saint and I know she raised Jenelle, but Barb is who Jace needs to be with. Despite barbs flaws, she is the only one who has loved and cared for Jace. And love and a safe place is what he needs.
Correct, she is not perfect. But she’s consistent.
I imagine it was very damaging to Jace to hear Jenelle continuously talk about how Barbara was keeping them apart. Only to then find out when Jenelle got custody that it was all an act for the cameras and her string of loser soulmates.
I hope her reuniting with the scumbag who strangled her child torches any chance Jenelle has of keeping custody. She is abhorrent and Jace is not safe with her, he never has been.

In all the years and years that this has gone on for, I’m just exhausted reading this and also very sad. I remember being a few months along at 16 years old when this show aired, ironically. Seeing my own teen now at the same age as Jace and watching the path that Jenelle has taken her kids down just makes me so disheartened. This kid gave her the spot where she is in life and she has just done wrong by him at every turn. Some kids really just don’t stand a chance. I’ll always be rooting for him to get through this and come out on the other side stronger and far better than his sad excuse of a mother.
Literally, Dear God, please let this or something better come of his horrible horrendous nightmare. Jace deserves so much more, and his egg donor does not. He is still a child. Give him Grace and the ability to have a better life and adulthood.

This is because she loves him as a parent does, Jenelle does not. I don’t think there’s any way Jenelle is going to allow this, not because she actually wants custody of Jace, she just doesn’t want Babs to “win”.
That’s what it was about the first time Jenelle filed to get custody back. She wants bragging rights, not her actual kid.

Thankfully, this isn’t something for Jenelle to allow or disallow. She can spend money on attorneys to try to fight it, but the chance of any judge agreeing that she’s the better parental figure here is slim to none.
Jace was with Barb from the day he was born until he was 14. In the two years he was with Jenelle, he was taken off the meds he needs, taken away from the therapist he’d been seeing for most of his life, allowed to smoke pot 24/7, ran away repeatedly, was brutally assaulted by UBT and Jenelle has decided to get back together with Jace’s abuser.
Jace is also old enough to have some input on this and he’s said he wants no contact with her. He also has text messages from his egg donor that paint her in a very bad light.
