Jenny Slatten and husband Sumit Singh are giving fans an update on Jenny’s health, a month after the 90 Day Fiancé stars publicly shared that Jenny was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) at the end of 2025.
As you know, Jenny and Sumit shared the news of Jenny’s devastating diagnosis in May, just six months after a video of Jenny slurring her words sparked concern among fans on social media. Jenny explained last month that she initially tried to keep the news of her diagnosis private due to it being “very emotional and overwhelming” for her and Sumit, though she assured fans that she is “surrounded by an incredible support system” and is “ready to face this fight with strength and hope.”
On Monday, Jenny and Sumit returned to social media with another update on Jenny’s ALS journey, where the couple also took a moment to thank their supporters.
“A lot of people sent us a lot of wishes, love and suggestions [about medical care], so thank you so much for your love and support, it means a lot to us,” Sumit said, to which Jenny added, “And people have been booking Cameos with us!”
Sumit also thanked those who have reached out or donated to the GoFundMe that was launched on his and Jenny’s behalf last month, claiming they are “very happy to see that much love [shown] for us.” He and Jenny then provided fans with an update on how Jenny is doing at this time.
“As you can hear, my voice is completely different,” Jenny said in the video. “My speech is very slow now. I’m still walking, but I get very tired … I’m gonna keep walking, but [I’ll get] a wheelchair probably soon.”
In addition to Jenny still being able to walk and talk at this time, Sumit told fans that his wife is “almost very much dependent on herself,” and is not at the point where she has to depend on him very much.
“I’m trying my best,” Jenny told fans, to which Sumit added, “giving up is not an option.”
As for the public’s response to their GoFundMe, Sumit admitted that he and Jenny “didn’t expect” to receive “that much love” from fans. The couple has currently raised nearly $54,000 through the online fundraiser, with their donation goal set at $250,000. While the original fundraising goal was less than that, Sumit explained that he and Jenny agreed to increase the amount after reading and researching more about ALS and speaking to doctors, through which they were able to get a better idea of how much medical care and support will cost as Jenny’s disease progresses.
“We know that it can cost a lot,” Sumit said.
As for those who have criticized the couple’s decision to accept donations or suggested that Sumit focus on working in order to pay for his wife’s medical costs himself, Sumit told fans, “sometimes it’s not that easy, sometimes Jenny really needs me [and] I need to be here.”
“ … I will try to make her life as easy as possible,” he added.
After Jenny confirmed that she does not have health insurance in India, Sumit explained that Jenny hasn’t returned to the United States to seek medical care because she cannot travel alone at this point and he is unable to obtain a travel visa that would allow him to stay in the U.S. longterm. Sumit noted that he would travel to the U.S. in order for Jenny to seek medical care if it was necessary, but that he and Jenny would only do so if they knew they would “definitely find a better solution” in the U.S. than what is offered in India.
Sumit added that while Jenny’s two daughters live in the U.S. and have seemingly offered to help the pair, “[Jenny’s daughters] have their own lives.”
“I don’t wanna be a burden,” Jenny added.
In response to the couple’s update video, Jenny’s daughter Dominique took the comments to assure her mom that she is “never a burden.”
“I would love to have you here and that’s what us children are for but I know you won’t be happy and you want to be with your husband,” Dominique wrote. “I get it 100 [percent] but I just wanted you to know don’t ever think you would be a burden in my life … .
“Sumit, thank you for all you’re doing to take care of my mom,” she added.
Dominique went on to tell fans in the comments that it broke her heart to hear her mom say that she didn’t want to be a burden on her children. She also reiterated that while it’s hard not having her mom nearby, she just wants her to be happy.
“Once we take her happiness away I feel she will go downhill quickly,” Dominique explained. “She just needs to be happy and stress free.”
