Debra Danielsen says a ‘Teen Mom’ spin-off starring her and the franchise’s most-beloved (or at least the most-quoted) Barbara Evans almost happened.
During a recent livestream interview done with Nick Radtke (the little brother of Catelynn Lowell), Deb spilled the beans on a variety of topics, including her non-existent relationship with her daughter Farrah Abraham, as well as behind-the-scenes tidbits from the ‘Teen Mom’ days. Perhaps one of the most-interesting things Deb revealed during the interview was that MTV had tried for years to get a ‘Teen Mom’ spin-off show starring her and Babs on the air!
(Please give The Ashley a moment to mourn the loss of this show….oh, how great it could have been!”
“I love Barb!” Debra declared, before giving more details about the ‘Teen Mom’ grandmas show that MTV tried to create.
“They suggested, MTV, that we actually do a show together,” Debra said. “Like, ‘Thelma & Louise!’ And go on a road trip.”

“Barb and I had been approached several times with this idea and I was like, ‘Yeah, I’d like to do it.’ And Barb is like, ‘Oh, I’d rather take a cruise!’ And I’m like, ‘I don’t care. It would be fun,'” Debra said. “And I think it would be funny because, you know, she is kind of a street-smart person and I’m not really street smart.”

“I’m more, you know, kind of a ditz of a blond,” Deb added. “But, anyway, I think the two of us together are pretty damn funny and I just love her.”
As The Ashley told you in 2022, the ‘Teen Mom’ higher-ups were desperately trying to get the show’s ratings up, and brought in the big guns— aka Deb and Barb— to try to get higher ratings. The giggle-inducing grandmas filmed several episodes of the short-lived spin-off ‘Teen Mom: Girls Night In.’ (However, from what The Ashley heard, not all of the filmed episodes made it to the air.)
While the ‘Teen Mom Grannies’ show never happened (sadly…), Debra says that she and Barbara have maintained their friendship over the years.
“We talk on the phone a lot. We share things and, again, these are things that nobody else could understand because when you go through being on TV, it’s a different world. It’s a different experience.”

Debra and Barbara also share the experience of having no contact with their daughters. During her interview with Nick, Deb revealed that she hasn’t spoken to Farrah in five years. As The Ashley has reported, Barb and Jenelle currently have no relationship and are currently in the middle of a legal court battle for custody of Jenelle’s eldest son Jace.
Stay tuned for more gems and revelations revealed by Debra during the interview!
