Yet another ‘Unexpected’ grandparent has landed themselves behind bars.

Starcasm broke the news that Casey Johnson– father of 14-year-old Season 7 star Hunter, was arrested in Arkansas on Thursday. He was charged with third-degree domestic battery (a Class A misdemeanor), as well as third-degree endangering the welfare of a minor, which is a Class B misdemeanor. (The battery charge is punishable with up to a year in jail in Arkansas.)

As of a few months ago, Casey had regained full custody of Hunter after a nasty court battle with Hunter’s mom, Stacie Riddle. (As The Ashley previously reported, Casey was battling in court with Falen Vaughn, the mother of Hunter’s baby mama Bella.)

After being booked, Casey posted his bond of $3,500 and was released after a few hours.  

Casey has not yet entered a plea, but his arraignment date has been set for October 5.

Hunter has not yet spoken publicly about his dad’s arrest.

However, back in April, he took to TikTok to make several claims about his father, including that Casey had a history of getting violent with him.

“He pinned me up the wall by my throat when I was little,” Hunter claimed at the time, adding that he didn’t like being at Casey’s house because there is “no food there” and “it’s disgusting.”

“I don’t like being around him,” Hunter said in the video, which has since been deleted.

(Hunter made those claims against his dad in a video in which he was defending Falen, whom Casey was accusing of engaging in “inappropriate” conduct with Hunter.)

Casey’s arrest comes just three months after she was arrested outside of Casey’s home for disorderly conduct and obstructing governmental operations. (Falen has pleaded not guilty to the charges and requested that they be dismissed. Her court date is scheduled for August.) 

Falen and Casey’s arrests are only part of the long legal battles these two families have been facing over the past year. Casey– who refused to appear on “Unexpected” with his son and ex-wife Stacie– first caught media attention when he requested that a judge ban unsupervised visits with the Vaughns because the family is “encouraging conduct inconsistent with appropriate boundaries for a minor child.”

He then filed for sole custody of both Hunter and Wes, claiming that Bella and her parents could not provide appropriate care for baby Wes.

 In June, Falen and Bella shared the results of the court-mandated paternity test for Wes, who was ultimately revealed to be Hunter’s son. The couple was broken up at the time, then got back together, and just announced their breakup again earlier this week. 

Surprisingly, Bella and Falen— who are usually very outspoken— have not commented on Casey’s arrest. However, Bella did post on TikTok Stories on Friday that, “karma’s a bitch,” which is likely a jab at Casey.

UPDATE! A no contact order filed in court last week reveals that Casey’s alleged victims do not include Hunter. (Starcasm was the first to report this news.) Instead, the alleged victims are named as Brettney Johnson (who is Casey’s soon-to-be-ex-wife and Hunter’s stepmom), as well as the child Casey and Brettney share. Casey has been court-ordered to not have contact— in any form— with his daughter or Brettney and must stay 1500 feet away from them.

In addition, Casey has been ordered to immediately leave the home (if he hadn’t already) and stay away from the alleged victims’ residence, workplace and school. He is not allowed to turn off the home’s utilities, prevent mail delivery or do anything that interferes with “the victims’ right to possess that residence.” 

The no-contact order will remain in place for up to a year from the date it was issued, which is July 23, 2026. Should Casey be found guilty of the charges, the no-contact order will then remain in effect for a year, beginning on the date of his sentencing.
