Scheana Shay is speaking her piece after Lala Kent took a moment during ‘The Valley’ Reunion to disclose the alleged reason why the two ended their once-close friendship last year.
As fans of ‘Vanderpump Rules’ know, Scheana and Lala were best friends (and Palm Springs neighbors) for years. However, things between the duo appeared to hit a snag around the July 2025 release of Scheana’s memoir, My Good Side.
The following month, Scheana went on to call out her former BFF for allegedly failing to promote her book until a week after it hit shelves, after which the two proceeded to engage in some public back-and-forth, with neither ever revealing the actual reason behind their feud.
On Part 1 of ‘The Valley’ reunion, host Andy Cohen asked Lala to (finally) disclose the “absolutely horrible thing that happened” between her and Scheana that caused their friendship to end. While Lala previously dodged the question– most recently during an appearance on ‘Watch What Happens Live’ in May– she agreed to open up about the feud only because her and Scheana’s daughters will no longer be attending the same school.
“I did something that– my heart was in the right place, but I shouldn’t have talked it about it,” Lala said, before revealing that their friendship imploded after she disclosed to her and Scheana’s mutual friend Jenna Willis that Scheana’s husband, Brock Davies, had cheated on Scheana in 2021 while she was pregnant with their daughter Summer.
While Scheana went public with the story herself in her memoir, Lala explained that she regretfully shared the news of the affair with Jenna before Scheana’s book was released.
“So, Jenna tells me that she slipped and [told] Zack [Wickham]. I immediately call Scheana and tell her,” Lala said. “Fast forward, I asked [Scheana], ‘Please don’t take this to the streets. Let’s work this out between us,’ and she kept talking about it.”
Lala– who began crying at this point in the conversation– then told Andy that her heart “is so f**king broken” over the situation with Scheana, as the two haven’t spoken to each other in a year. She also claimed that she no longer recognizes her former BFF, but still hopes that they can one day get their friendship back on track.
Because Scheana isn’t a cast member on ‘The Valley’ and wasn’t able to weigh in on the feud during the Reunion, she addressed the topic on Friday’s episode of her Scheananigans podcast, where she told listeners she’s glad that Lala no longer recognizes her.
“ … Honestly, good,” Scheana said. “Because I have put boundaries in place for the first time in my life, the first time in this friendship, and I’m not the same person I was a few years ago. I’m no longer the girl who had no boundaries, who let people walk all over her, treat me poorly, and then just accepted it because I wanted to keep the peace. I’m a people-pleaser, and I care more about other people’s feelings than my own.”
While Lala had blamed her and Scheana’s falling out on one particular incident, Scheana insisted on her podcast that there was “a pattern that went on for years” that contributed to the rift. She even claimed that she’s “continuing to learn about things that were happening behind the scenes that were hurtful and damaging” to her, as well as her relationships.
“I’ve said this on the podcast before, you know, the issue isn’t that Lala has changed, it’s that I have,” Scheana said. “I really don’t feel like she has changed. I’ve done a lot of work on myself.
“I’ve been in therapy for years, and one of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that not every friendship is meant to last forever,” she continued. “You know, some relationships become unhealthy, and sometimes the healthiest thing you can do is walk away.”
Scheana insisted that she doesn’t have any ill will towards Lala, and even told listeners that she “tried many times” to repair their friendship, to no avail.
“I just feel like there comes a point when you realize that you’ve exhausted every avenue and you have to accept that someone just wasn’t capable of being the kind of friend that you needed,” Scheana said. “I don’t believe that that friendship was healthy, and I don’t believe it was rooted in someone who truly wanted the best for me. And that’s hard to accept because I felt differently for years and I sacrificed a lot for her, and it broke my heart.
“So her heart may be broken, but her actions caused that,” she added.
While Scheana maintains that she has technically forgiven Lala, she said it doesn’t mean she has to give Lala access to her life. She also criticized Lala for claiming on the Reunion that Scheana was the one who took their feud “to the streets,” arguing that she actually tried to “protect it” from the public amid her book tour.
“ … I never publicly explained what was actually behind our falling out until Lala chose to discuss it on her podcast, and that’s when she framed it as though our issues were simply because she didn’t post about my book, that my expectations were impossible for her to meet, and that she could never make me happy,” Scheana said, referring to comments Lala made on her Untraditionally Lala podcast in September.
“ … At that point, I felt like I had every right to tell my side of the story, and I wasn’t the one who made our friendship [falling out] public,” she continued. “I was responding after my character had already been publicly defined in a way that I don’t believe was accurate. You know, if someone’s going to tell the whole world why your friendship ended and in doing so, misrepresent what actually happened, I think it’s fair that you tell your own truth.”
Later in the episode, Scheana told listeners that she ultimately needed to sever ties with Lala because the friendship was breaking her heart “over and over again.”
Lala has yet to respond to Scheana’s podcast comments.
