Kail Lowry’s new reality series ‘Crashing Out With Kail’ may be receiving mixed reviews from fans (more on that below), but the former ‘Teen Mom 2’ star claims her seven kids are cool with the project, partly because it isn’t a “bash fest” about their dads.
In a new interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Kail talked about her series, one of two that’s streaming on the recently launched platform ShortVydz. Unlike the reality series that made Kail a household name, ‘Crashing Out With Kail’ airs in bite-sized clips, a format commonly referred to as “micro-dramas” or “unscripted micros.”
Kail noted that ‘Crashing Out With Kail’ also differs from ‘Teen Mom 2’ as it focuses less on her relationships and more on her career as a podcaster “and what goes on behind the scenes while [she’s] being a mom.”
“I really love that it’s drama based but not about my kids’ dads,” she said, referring to exes Jo Rivera, Javi Marroquin, Chris Lopez and Elijah Scott– the fathers of her seven children.
Kail went on to tell the outlet that she isn’t the only one who’s happy that her baby daddy drama isn’t a main focus in the new series; the mom of seven claims her kids also appreciate the fact that the show isn’t “a bash fest about their dads.”

“This is not meant to be Kailyn Lowry and her exes,” she explained. “We all kind of collectively can appreciate that.”
Speaking of her kids, Kail revealed this week that, as she returned to life in front of the camera, the most important thing to her children was that she continue asking them for permission to film them instead of “forcing them” to participate.
“ … and I respect that,” Kail said. “I want them to have full autonomy of what they’re featured on, and so, I just ask them, ‘Hey, we’re going to film today. Do you have any interest?’ And they’ll say yes or no.”

While Kail is happy to give her kids a choice when it comes to appearing on camera, her 16-year-old son Elliott revealed on TikTok this week that he continues to receive comments on social media from parasocial fans who watched his birth and a large part of his childhood on TV.
“I find it so weird when people will be in my comment section and somebody will say something like, ‘Oh, like, I raised you,’” Elliott said on TikTok. “Or, ‘We literally babysat you,’ or like, ‘We were there when you were born’ … or anything like that. Like, I’m just concerned.”

Elliott went on to say that he can “get past” the comments from people who claim they were there when he was born, given that his birth was featured on his mom’s episode of ’16 and Pregnant.’ As for some of the other remarks, however, Elliott finds them to be “kind of weird.”
“ … When you say you babysat me and you raised me, to me, that’s just weird, cause you didn’t,” Elliott said. “Like, TV affected who I am today, but it did not make me who I am today, you know what I mean? So, for you to say that you raised me or you babysat me, like, I don’t even know you personally. Like, all due respect, I don’t know you … so, it’s kind of weird.”

Anyway, as mentioned above, Kail has received some flak online this week regarding the format of her new show, as well as the ShortVydz platform on which it’s streaming. (For those wondering, the first three episodes of ‘Crashing Out With Kail’ are free to watch, but watching additional episodes requires a ShortVydz pass. A weekly pass is $9.99, a monthly pass is $29.99, and a VIP annual pass is $199.99.)
On Wednesday, Kail took to social media to address some of the fan criticism/confusion, while revealing that Season 1 of ‘Crashing Out With Kail’ will be “around 100 episodes in total.”

“ … this is the new format overall,” Kail said of the two-to-four-minute bite-size episodes. “I think that you’re going to see, over the next year or so, you’re going to see most of your favorite creators and reality people turning to platforms for shows that are in this style format.”
Kail went on to tell fans that she believes she’s “getting the backlash” for the format of her show because she’s “one of the first ones to do it [in America].” However, she assured fans that she understands their complaints.

“I get it,” she said. “I was a little bit frustrated by some of the things that I didn’t find out until yesterday when the show aired. So, your frustrations are valid, I get it. But I do think that you’re going to start to see more of these [shows] with everybody.”
Episodes of ‘Crashing Out With Kail’ are available to watch on ShortVydz.com and the ShortVydz app.
