Jessa Duggar Reveals Why She Won’t Write a Tell-All While Seemingly Throwing Shade at Sisters Jill & Jinger for Doing So

“You guys can keep pumping out published works, I’ll stick to rapidly reproducing…”

Jessa Duggar Seewald is set to welcome her seventh child in 2027, but the former ‘Counting On’ star says fans should not expect her to deliver a tell-all book anytime soon.

On the latest episode of ‘The Unplanned Podcast,’ Jessa was asked about the tell-all books penned by her sisters Jill Duggar Dillard and Jinger Duggar Vuolo in recent years– both of which, Jessa claims to have read.

This includes Jill and husband Derick Dillard’s 2023 memoir, Counting the Cost, which details the couple’s “painful journey as part of the reality-show-filming Duggar family.” It also includes Jinger’s 2023 book, Becoming Free Indeed, in which she writes about her personal battle with the Institute of Basic Life Principles (IBLP), the religious organization in which Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar raised their 19 children. (Jinger went on to release People Pleaser: Breaking Free from the Burden of Imaginary Expectations in 2025, which Jessa claims to have read as well.)

“I’m going to assume that ‘Holy Disruptor’ is on your to-be-read list, cousin Jessa…”

While Jessa has taken the time to read her sisters’ trio of books and claims to “really appreciate” Jinger’s in particular, the 34-year-old revealed this week that she won’t be releasing a tell-all of her own, largely because she doesn’t feel that she’s equipped to do so at this point in her life.

“I’m not going to write a book,” Jessa declared. “ … Yeah, no. I just feel like the older I get, the more I realize, Lord help me, I don’t know very much. Like, I’ve got a lot of growing up to do as a person.”

Although Jessa admitted that the idea of entering the literary world has crossed her mind in the past, she said her lack of life experience has kept her from pursuing the project– at least for now, anyway.

“ … it’s not that people shouldn’t have a voice or shouldn’t have a platform until they’re, like, 65, but I think for us personally, or for me personally, I’m not writing a book,” she said. “At least not right now.”

Jessa’s husband, Ben Seewald, echoed a similar sentiment during the episode.

“There’s so many young people writing books and it’s like, you’re just sort of, like, still figuring some things out, maybe live some life,” Ben said. “ … We might need more old people writing books … .”

“Astute as always, Ben.”

While Jessa won’t be turning to her sisters for writing tips anytime soon, she claims that people have come up to her to tell her how “helpful” Jinger’s book was to them. She also revealed that Ben has even recommended Jinger’s books “multiple times” in his weekly church bulletin.

“My only critique is the lack of pictures and quantity of pages.”

Jessa further confirmed her stamp of approval for Jinger’s writing while discussing the fact that, like Jinger, she and Ben have left the controversial Christian fundamentalist organization in which they were raised. Jessa suggested that, if she were to pen a tell-all, the story of how she left the IBLP would likely be similar to the story that Jinger shared with readers.

“I think theologically, Jinger and I are very aligned,” Jessa said. “And so, probably a lot of our thought processes and the way we’re processing through things and coming to our own convictions would be very similar.”

“That’s great, sis, but let me remind you that this was not a group project.”

Although Jessa acknowledged that processing “difficult things” through writing can be helpful for some people, she said she doesn’t feel that she’s “that type of person.”

“Like, I’m more of a, maybe internal processor,” she explained.

As The Ashley previously told you, Joy Duggar Forsyth revealed in a May 2024 YouTube video that she also read Jinger and Jill’s respective tell-alls. At the time, Joy told fans that, while both books made her question certain things about her upbringing, “talking specifics” with Jinger “did rock [her] world a little bit.”

“…but I’m positive joining a book club isn’t for me.”

Joy went on to explain that, before reading Jinger’s book, she thought she had “worked through some of the things” that were addressed in it; however, she realized after talking to her sister that there were some things she hadn’t “specifically thought about.”

“ … I knew I didn’t believe certain things, but I hadn’t actually worked through that and why, so I think that it kind of did shake my world a little bit,” she explained, adding that reading Jill and Jinger’s books “did jump-start some of those questions” that she needed to ask herself.
