The Teen Mom franchise has been credited with helping to reduce the number of teen pregnancies in the United States and now the show’s founding network, MTV, is hoping to have the same results overseas.

The network announced today that it is currently casting for a British version of the uber-popular reality show. Teen Mom UK will premiere in the fall and will start off with eight episodes. It is unknown at this time how many girls will be featured on the new show, as it is still being cast.

This is not the first time that MTV has taken a show that was popular in America and spun it off into a UK version.

“MTV UK has a great record of re-versioning hit shows from our sister channel in the US,” MTV UK’s Jill Offman stated. “We turned Jersey Shore into Geordie Shore and smashed ratings records in the process. We’ll use this expertise to give ‘Teen Mom’ a fresh lease of life, combined with a unique British twist, which we’re confident will have massive appeal to local audiences.”

“The U.K. version of the show will have the same core value of authenticity as the original and will follow a cast of teenage girls juggling their emotional teenage years with becoming a parent for the first time,” MTV UK said.

The Ashley is working to get more information, and will keep all of you Brits posted on who’s being cast to star on the show.  For those of you who are interested in being cast, the official casting application states that you and your family must want to participate.

“We are looking for teen mums who want to share their story and experiences, and we will need the teen mums family to be involved and to be supportive of the project…”

The application did not state what age the girls applying need to be. It also failed to state how old the girls’ child should be.

  1. What a load of bs
The U.K. Had enough shit going on with terrorists and to many invaders breeding like rats without rewarding teenage sluts, how fkn embarrassing

  2. Way to promote teen pregnancy so instead of preventing them! So many uneducated idiots about no wonder the worlds fkd up

  3. I’m from the UK and I’ve loved these shows since 16 and Pregnant first came out. I watched the BBC Underage and Pregnant show but it was a very different style, more like a documentary. I’m so excited for Teen Mom UK, I can’t wait to see an MTV take on Britain’s trashy teens!

  4. There was an MTV’s 16 and pregnant here in Italy too (it was called “16 anni e incinta”). It faced a lot of criticism when broadcasted, especially one episode that featured this 15 year old girl, mother of 10 months-old twins and 8 months pregnant (+ one miscarriage if i remember well). She wasn’t even the legal guardian of the kids until she turned 16.
You would have loved that episode Ashley…well you would have loved the whole 2 seasons! That right amount of deadbeat fathers and clueless mothers that only MTV can offer!!

    1. Do you have any idea where I could find that link? I don’t even speak Italian but I’m pretty sure I could piece together a forced-by-producers “how did you get pregnant” talk in any language by now.

    2. Only that episode was comparable to the US series… the other episodes were sooooo boring… I am looking forward to watch the uk version of teen mom! Loads of vicky pollard (from’little britain’) will keep us entrateined!!

    3. Haha I watched that when I was in Italy over the summer! Unfortunately, I couldn’t understand much of it b/c my Italian is not very good 🙁 All I remember is that I think the couple ended up getting married…and the baby was really cute lol

  5. Interesting. The BBC ran a show called Underage & Pregnant for a couple of years that is pretty similar to 16 and Pregnant although featured both pregnant teens and already parenting teens. I found it pretty interesting with generally less drama than Teen Mom/Teen Mom 2. I’ll totally watch a UK Teen Mom even if it’s as drama-filled as the US version.
