See the Results of The Ashley’s “Best of 2019 Reality TV” Survey!

Last week, The Ashley asked you to vote for your favorite (and least favorite) reality TV stars, shows and moments of 2019. We waded through the raunchy, the ridiculous and the reality TV trainwrecks of the year and the results are in!

Before we get to the results, The Ashley would like to thank her readers for another great year for The Roundup! She wishes her readers a very happy New Year! Stay safe and–– as The Ashley always says–– if you’re going make a bad decision tonight, make sure there’s a reality TV camera there to film it!

(Just remember, these results were voted by Roundup readers, and do not necessarily reflect The Ashley’s own opinions!)

On to the results!

Biggest Reality TV Trainwreck of 2019:

Mama June Shannon (Mama June: From Not to Hot)

For the first time in the nine years The Ashley has been doing this survey, a non-‘Teen Mom’ star has “won” this prestigious title. Over the course of 2019, Mama June Shannon’s life went totally downhill, bringing her from the healthy-looking (and newly made-over) reality star she was in January, to what she is today: facing drug charges and essentially homeless. These actions helped June trample last year’s “winner,” David Eason, for the title of Biggest Trainwreck this year.

Honorable Mention: David Eason (Teen Mom 2)

Most Shocking Reality TV Couple Split of 2019:

Jenelle Evans & David Eason (Teen Mom 2)

Earlier this year Jenelle vowed to “stand by her husband until the day we die,” but she fled the relationship (and The Land) on Halloween. In the weeks following, Jenelle obtained a restraining order against David and moved from North Carolina to Tennessee. While it was well-known that the former ‘Teen Mom 2’ stars had a tumultuous marriage, fans were still shocked that the gruesome twosome actually parted ways in 2019.

Honorable Mention: Kylie Jenner & Travis Scott (Keeping Up With the Kardashians)

Biggest Reality TV Villain:

David Eason (Teen Mom 2)

Speaking of David, he managed to secure the role of “Biggest Reality TV Villain” for the second year in a row! In fact, he completely blew his competition out of the water, securing almost 75% of the total votes! It’s no surprise, of course, given that the former ‘Teen Mom 2’ star killed his wife’s dog, had custody of his kids taken away, threatened countless ‘Teen Mom’ stars and acted like a general lunatic, all over the course of the year.

Honorable Mention: Cara Maria Sorbello & Paulie Calafiore (The Challenge)

Show You Were Most Embarrassed to Admit You Watched in 2019:

Any of the ‘Teen Mom’ shows

The ‘Teen Mom’ shows took home this “honor” for the second year in a row! While viewers may be embarrassed to admit they watched ‘Teen Mom OG,’ ‘Teen Mom 2’ and ‘Teen Mom: Young & Pregnant’ in 2019, they continue to follow the antics of Amber, Jenelle & the gang!

Honorable Mention: ‘Counting On’

Most Annoying Reality TV Star of 2019:

Farrah Abraham

It’s no surprise that Farrah Abraham was named the Most Annoying Reality TV Star of 2019. After all, this marks the eighth year in a row that Farrah has been given this award. In 2019, she posted incredibly annoying YouTube videos, attempted to sound educated while giving interviews (all while speaking in her signature “Farrah Speak”) and delivered more annoying shrieks in Instagram Live videos than any one person should in a lifetime.

Honorable Mention: Cara Maria Sorbello (The Challenge)

Most Shocking Reality TV Scandal of 2019:

David Eason shoots Jenelle Evans’ dog & they lose custody of their kids (Teen Mom 2)

David and Jenelle secured their spot in reality TV scandal infamy when David shot Jenelle’s small French bulldog, Nugget, this spring. That act sparked a breakup (and eventual make-up) for the couple, as well as a fight to regain custody of their children, who were removed from their care by the court.

Honorable Mention: Amber Portwood arrested for allegedly attacking boyfriend with a machete; abuse videos leak (Teen Mom OG)

Favorite New Reality TV Show of 2019:

90 Day Fiance: Pillow Talk

‘Pillow Talk’— one of the newest additions to the already massive “90 Day Fiance” franchise — made a huge splash with viewers in 2019. The premise of the show is simple: former (and current) “90 Day” cast members watch the show along with viewers, adding in their commentary along the way. With its massive ratings, it’s no surprise that ‘Pillow Talk’ was voted the Favorite New Show of 2019!

Honorable Mention: The Masked Singer

Best Reality TV Star Comeback in 2019:

Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino (Jersey Shore Family Vacation)

There’s no doubt that Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino has come a long way from where he was during the early days of ‘Jersey Shore,’ but he also made huge progress in 2019. In mid-January, he began serving his prison sentence for tax evasion. During his time behind bars, Mike remained positive and focused on getting healthy mentally and physically. Following his release in September, Mike and his wife Lauren have partnered with a rehab facility to help others struggling with addiction. Last week, Mike celebrated four years of sobriety, making him a genuine comeback kid!

Honorable Mention: Annie & David Toborowsky (90 Day Fiance)

Most Jaw-Dropping Moment of Reality TV in 2019:

Mama June & Geno Doak’s crack cocaine arrest & downward spiral (Mama June: From Not to Hot)

Fans were shocked in March to learn that Mama June and her boyfriend Geno Doak had been arrested for possession of crack cocaine and drug paraphernalia. Although viewers of ‘Mama June: From Not to Hot’ may have sensed that June was struggling, her alleged drug use was not discussed on the show until after her arrest. In the months since then, June and Geno have continued to spiral. They are currently living out of hotel rooms and estranged from their families.

Honorable Mention: Jenny finds out her fiance Sumit is already married (90 Day Fiance: The Other Way)

Person Who Needs to Stop Appearing on Reality TV Shows After 2019:

Farrah Abraham

Farrah only appeared on ‘Ex on the Beach’ in 2019; however the former ‘Teen Mom OG’ star managed to keep her mug in the public eye throughout the year. Last year, Roundupers voted for Farrah as the person they’d most like to see retire from the reality TV circuit but, unfortunately, they did not get their wish.

Honorable Mention: Aubrey O’Day

Reality TV Show That Should Retire After 2019:

Mama June: From Not to Hot

Roundupers are tired of seeing ‘Mama June: From Not to Hot.’ Despite the fact that June is basically a vagabond these days, it’s rumored that WEtv plans to air another season of June’s reality show in 2020.

Honorable Mention: Teen Mom OG

Overall Favorite Reality TV Show of 2019:

Teen Mom shows

While Roundupers may be embarrassed to admit they watch the ‘Teen Mom’ shows, they still voted for them as their favorite show(s) of 2019! Every year since 2011 (which is the year The Ashley began doing this survey), a ‘Teen Mom’ show has taken this honor! This year, though, ‘Teen Mom’ had its closest competition ever, with the “90 Day Fiance” franchise coming in with just 3% fewer votes than ‘Teen Mom!’

Honorable Mention: “90 Day Fiance” shows

  1. Two other new shows I appreciated… Unexpected and Welcome To Plathville. Seriously though, all ‘big family show’ expectations aside, the mother in law dynamic was really interesting to watch.
