Josh Duggar’s latest attempt to get himself out of prison has been foiled– again.
The disgraced former 19 Kids & Counting star– who is currently incarcerated in Texas after being convicted in December 2021 of receiving child sex abuse materials (CSAM)– filed a motion last month with the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Arkansas asking that he be appointed a lawyer to help him fight to challenge his conviction; however, his request has since been denied.
According to KNWA/KFTA News in Fayetteville, Arkansas, U.S. Magistrate Judge Christy Comstock said in an order filed last week that Josh’s motion to appoint counsel both lacked sufficient detail and failed to justify the request under federal law.

According to court documents, while courts can appoint counsel in certain post-conviction cases at their discretion, this can only be done if the petition “presents a non-frivolous claim” and meets other factors, which the judge determined that Josh’s case did not meet.

In his attempt to persuade the Arkansas federal court to provide him with a new legal team, Josh wrote a letter last month to Judge Timothy L. Brooks (who handled Josh’s first trial), explaining that he was seeking the court’s assistance in appointing counsel to “help evaluate my case and, if appropriate, prepare a motion to vacate, set aside, or correct my conviction and sentence.”
In the letter, which was obtained by The Sun, Josh touted his alleged behind-bars activities before noting that he believes there are “significant issues” relating to his case that “merit a post-conviction review.”
“During my time of incarceration, I have worked diligently to focus on education, personal growth, my faith, and to maintain strong family ties,” he wrote. “However, as I review my case, I believe there are significant issues relating to trial error, evidentiary rulings, and other constitutional violations that merit a thorough post-conviction review.

“I am unable to fully assess these matters on my own, which is why I seek the assistance of qualified counsel to help evaluate whether relief is justified,” he continued.
Josh concluded his letter by thanking the judge for his “time, consideration and continued service to justice,” before signing off with, “May God bless you and this Court.”
As The Ashley told you last month, Josh also stated in his letter to the judge that he is no longer able to afford a private attorney due to his “current financial circumstances” and therefore was in need of a public defender.

As you may remember, this isn’t the first time Josh has attempted to get the court to take another look at his case or to get himself released from prison.
Back in 2022, Josh filed an appeal, claiming his former friend Caleb Williams was to blame for the CSAM found on the work computer of Josh’s now-shuttered car lot, Wholesale Motorcars. That same year, the father of seven and his legal team continued arguing for Josh to be granted a new trial for receiving CSAM, alleging that Josh’s rights were violated during the 2019 raid on his car lot and that he had been denied the ability to present a case against Caleb during the 2021 trial.
Josh’s (now former) legal team fought for a new trial again in 2023, but in August of that year, Josh’s appeal and request for a new trial were denied. Despite multiple failed efforts, Josh then petitioned the U.S. Supreme Court for another trial, but he was denied (again) in June 2024.
Josh is expected to remain in prison until at least October 2032.

Bad guy
Too bad, so sad /s
Keep that perv right where he belongs. I don’t believe he can ever be rehabbed, ever. He’s FUBAR.
Has he tried licking the dictator for a pardon?
He can get in line with Diddy! If Epstien hadn’t done the decent thing, he probably would have been one of the 1st the convicted felon PO(tu)S would have pardoned.
A while back I found a thread on Reddit that was a guy claiming to be a former security guard/body guard for the Duggars. He said it was common knowledge that Josh would set his laptop to CSAM and prop it up in the car next to him so he could watch while driving. If this is remotely true, the case he’s in prison for was just the tip of the iceberg. Dude is seriously sick and twisted and a deeper, more thorough investigation should have been conducted on him
Good, I hope that denial hurt.
Actually, I hope something really, really, really bad happens to him in prison. I hope it hurts like fuck and he has to re-live it over and over and over every time he closes his eyes.
Yes, some would say I’m going to hell for wishing pain and suffering on him, I don’t care. I’d just tell them I already bought my acreage and I know I’ll be in good company.
Also, I don’t believe in hell, but if I did, he’d already be there getting reamed in the ass with a pineapple by hitler, or some shit. (that too, will probably get me sent to hell, lmao).
No. You’re not going to hell for wishing that on him. If anything you were too kind to this disgusting person who truly deserves all evils of the world to be visited upon him.
Hahahaha nice try, Joshy… nice try
I feel so heartsick for his children. I truly do. Josh and his enabling wife can fuck the fuck off.
Interesting that Jim boob won’t pay for his lawyers. Wonder if they had a falling out or something. I hope he stays in prison forever
Boob paid for his lawyers for the trial and all of the appeals they tried and were denied. I’m sure the lawyers have told them there is absolutely nothing more to be done and that the Pest needs to just shut up and do his time. Everyone one else involved knows this, but the pervert is refusing to accept the fact that he’s stuck in a federal pen until 2032. He still thinks he’s better than everyone else in the world and that he’s above the law. He may have been the crown prince of fundie land, but now he’s just another sex offender doing time.
I wish they could have given him a longer sentence and it makes me want to throw up to know his useless baby factory of a wife will be waiting for him with open arms when he’s finally released.
I agree that 2032 is too soon for him to be out. Keep him in, castrate him, and throw away the key
And please, for the good of the world, throw away the goddamn key.
Sorry! That down view was an accident. I couldn’t agree more!
Couldn’t happen to a more deserving person! Happy Monday to everyone except Josh, Anna, Michelle, and Jim Bob
“However, as I review my case, I believe there are significant issues relating to trial error, evidentiary rulings, and other constitutional violations that merit a thorough post-conviction review.”
So clearly Josh is concerned about Josh. Not that I would believe him at all because he is a liar but where is the accountability? Where’s the “yes I know I am a repeat disgusting pedophile and quite frankly I can never be redeemed”.
I get that he would never admit guilt but we all know he is guilty. I’m terrified for every child that is exposed to him when he is released including his own 7 children which I’m not convinced he hasn’t also abused. I’m sure if he had his children would be told to repent for whatever temptation and sin that he would say caused him to do it in the first place. He learned that from dear old mom and dad when he raped his sisters.
The entire family is sick.
Exactly. He’s going after law technicalities instead of explaining why he’s ‘innocent.’ If he were truly convinced that it was the employee of the car lot, you would think he would be banging down the door about *gasp* THE CHILDREN! The children that he would be so concerned about their exploitation, their safety and their righteous souls!
…but of course, we know why he isn’t actually worried about that. He’s guilty as sin and certainly doesn’t give a flying fuck about what he did, who he violated, and who it has affected.
I hope he rots.
