Former ‘Unexpected’ Star Max Schenzel Arrested for Theft & Possession of Fentanyl While on Probation: Details

Here we go again…

Former Unexpected star Max Schenzel continues to find himself in legal trouble after being arrested at least twice while still on probation for his February 2024 arrest for fentanyl possession, according to Starcasm.

The outlet reports that Max, who previously appeared on ‘Unexpected’ with ex and baby mama Chloe Mendoza, was arrested on at least two occasions since his February 2024 arrest– once for theft and another time for fentanyl possession– jeopardizing the 25-year-old’s probation, which began in April 2024.

“Hard to believe I let this one go, right?”

Court documents regarding Max’s November arrest allege that the former TLC star possessed or used fentanyl and alprazolam on or about November 25, 2024, and that he “did use or possess with intent to use foil, a straw, and a baggie” in order to use said drugs.

The November incident resulted in Max being charged with Possession or Use of Narcotic Drugs, Possession or Use of Dangerous Drugs, and Possession or Use of Drug Paraphernalia. (The first two charges are Class 4 felonies, while the third is a Class 6 felony.)

Max was also arrested for theft while on probation– a Class 1 misdemeanor– stemming from an incident that allegedly occurred less than two weeks after his February 2024 arrest for drug possession.

According to Starcasm, multiple petitions have been filed in 2025 to revoke Max’s probation, most recently on June 3, at which point a warrant was also issued for his arrest. He reportedly appeared in court this week for a status conference, during which the judge overseeing the case denied Max’s attorney’s motion to quash the warrant and scheduled Max’s next hearing for July 21. Meanwhile, it was noted in the latest docket entry from Max’s theft case on July 7 that there had been a “failure to appear on criminal offense” and that a “warrant of arrest” was issued, as well as a “suspension of operation privilege ordered.”

As The Ashley previously told you, Max was released from the slammer in January 2021 after serving more than three months for a 2018 incident in which he stole credit cards and casino vouchers from his friend’s grandmother while she was sleeping. He was also arrested in late 2019 for domestic violence and again in early 2020 for the same thing.

One of Max’s many (MANY) mugshots from over the years…

While Max has continued to find himself in legal trouble over the years, it appears that the same cannot be said for his presence in his seven-year-old daughter Ava’s life. (Chloe previously had a restraining order against Max, barring him from being around both her and Ava.)

Last week, Max took to his Instagram Story to post a birthday tribute for Ava, whom he shares with Chloe, in which he acknowledged that he has not “been able to be there” with her “these past couple of years.”

“ … not a day has gone by that I haven’t thought about you or missed you deeply,” he wrote. “ … My greatest wish is to be part of your birthdays – and every part of your life – from here on.”

  1. I’m here because we matched on a dating app. Glad he has such a public life so I can avoid this man at all costs.

  2. Unfortunately for addicts unless they have the willpower, no child or bargaining changes them.
I thought Max was going alright for a few years? Must’ve missed some updates.
It’s a shame. His dad appeared devastated during Unexpected. He already dealt with this shit with Max’s mum and hoped for better for Max.
Get it together man. Life can be good.

  3. Didn’t he kick Ava in the back when she was a baby? Like that was one of the calls to the police that Chloe made I think. And I know he hit Chloe. And the drugs he was on during her pregnancy he’s still using now. SMFH I know addiction is hard, but it’s like he’s not trying to get to clean and hasn’t tried to get clean

  4. Having any kind of conversations with minors about the child you gave up for adoption, whether they reached out first or not, is wild. Jenelle has NO room to talk, but she’s not wrong about what she said.

  5. Hear me out, he loves his daughter but is an addict and unfortunately he cannot overcome it. It’s NOT okay but addiction is medical no??

    1. As far as it being “medical” I think you mean it’s a disease? Which yes, it is. However, As an addict in recovery (Drug of choice was alcohol and opiates/pills), you can absolutely overcome addiction but you have to be willing and work at it every single day. It will never go away and you w3ill never be “cured”, but you can recover. There are people that overcome addiction everyday and do it the rest of their lives.

  6. What a loser. If he actually wanted to be there for his daughter and thought about her every day, he’d be getting clean, putting in the work to stay sober long-term, providing for her financially, and proving through actions (not words) that he’s becoming a better man. If you can’t make it through probation without getting arrested (TWICE!) then clearly your daughter isn’t high up on your priority list.

  7. He misses her very much and wants to be a part of her life but can’t stop commiting crimes to be able to do that.
Put him in jail and throw away the key.

  8. “Not a day has gone by that I haven’t thought about you or missed you deeply“

Just not enough to get off of drugs, start working on yourself mentally so you can get stronger in order to be a stable person in your daughter’s life. He reminds me of my ex who would make a grand speech like this once every blue moon. Never once did he pay child support, pay health insurance and deductibles, pay for field trips, clothes, food. Never one time did he stop doing drugs, being an alcoholic and an abuser. So the bullshit talking that Max is doing here and that my ex did is nothing but filler words wrapped in dog shit.

    What a Dad.
