Jenelle Evans‘ treatment of her son Jace— even from thousands of miles away— continues to shock.
On Monday, a story was sold to TMZ to reveal that her 16-year-old son Jace had been checked into a mental hospital following a call to police about a “troubled teen disturbance” at Jenelle’s mom’s house.
The Ashley can confirm that this is true… but the details behind what’s really been going down are jaw-dropping.
The Ashley’s sources tell her Jace was “infuriated to find out that Jenelle was back with David” and that’s what spurred the incident.
Although Jace has been living with his grandma Barbara Evans for the past eight months or so, Jenelle has retained legal custody of the teen.
“When Jace found out from reading it online that his mom was back with David, he flipped out,” the source said. “Jenelle didn’t even tell him herself, he had to read it on the Internet.”
(As The Ashley has previously reported, David and Jenelle reconciled in January— despite the fact that David is still facing felony criminal charges for felony assault by strangulation and child abuse for allegedly assaulting Jace in 2023.)
“Jace was very upset, and Barbara called Jenelle about it and told her,” the source said. “That’s when cops were called and Jace was taken to a local hospital.”
From there, Jace was transported to a mental hospital, where he’s been since late February.
From what The Ashley has heard, Jace is possibly going to testify against David at his upcoming trial.
“Now that Jenelle is back with David she doesn’t want him to end up convicted of the crimes,” the source said.
“Jenelle asked that Jace be committed to a facility long-term,” the source said. “She wants Jace to be institutionalized. She is also, as an alternative if long-term commitment can’t happen, trying to get the court to allow her male friend in North Carolina to get Jace,” the source said. “It makes absolutely no sense.”
The source stated that Jenelle recently told people that she’s “done with” Jace and doesn’t want anything to do with him,” the source added. “Jace doesn’t want anything to do with Jenelle now either.”
A second source tells The Ashley that Jenelle has been living a happy life in Vegas while all of this has been going on.
“All this time, Jenelle is portraying that she is just giving Jace ‘his privacy’ and acting involved in his life, but in reality she put him in the hospital and doesn’t want him speaking out. He had every right to get upset that his mom is back with the man she promised Jace and the other kids she’d never go back to.
“While Jace was in the hospital, she was out with David in Vegas, going out to eat, having him take her OnlyFans photos and enjoying life, while the child that gave her fame and everything is suffering,” the source stated. “He’s furious and rightfully so.”

UPDATE! After The Ashley posted this story, Jenelle’s estranged sister Ashleigh entered the chat on X. As The Ashley has previously told you, Ashleigh and Jenelle have had no relationship for years; however, Ashleigh remains close to their mom Barbara. In posts to X, Ashleigh slammed her sister, whom she believes sold the story about Jace to TMZ.
“I’m at the point right now where I don’t give 2F’s,” Ashleigh wrote. “I’m sick and tired of my sister selling stories with her lowlife friends for cash making lies about my family especially the children drama everyone’s so tired of her. She needs a real reality check… there’s no arguing w/an evil POS sister. I just thought I’d get my point across before the Internet talks badly about my nephew. It really affects him emotionally. It’s not fair to him, if he speaks out, my sister will retaliate like always.”
“This is what she does,” she wrote in another tweet. “She was mad when my mother had her stroke sat in my mother’s driveway for a couple hours cause my nephew Jace did not want to go with her so what did she do? Sell the story TMZ blast me on the Internet at a jealousy with [Ryan Dolph] it’s what she does when she’s mad.
“This is the same situation that happened when my mother had a stroke [last year]. Nobody knew about my mother’s stroke. When I was [taking] care of my mom, all of a sudden my sister comes to NC and it sold the tabloid all over the Internet. I know one particular person who did it who sells lies.”
Ashleigh also revealed more alleged details about Jenelle’s relationship with Jace.
“My nephew wants nothing to do with my sister Jenelle because of what his mother has done to him and betrayed him,” Ashleigh wrote, adding that Barbara is “furious right now.”

Oh my heart aches for that poor boy. He was doing so well, back where he belonged, and of course David and Janelle back together is very triggering. It sounds like Jenelle wants to make him look crazy and unstable. So that David has that going for him in court. People who pin this all on David are sick. David is not a good guy but Jenelle has been a crap mother to have since long before David came around. Poor Jace, he’s had life so rough.

Also, I’m a mother and I would NEVER treat my child this way. I’d lose a man long before he could ever come before my child. Jenelle makes a decision to be the woman and mother that she is. People always putting everything Jenelle does onto David’s back are truly delusional and they’re sick. Jenelle is a whole grown up. An entire one!
David’s plan to manipulate Janelle and try to get the assault case against him weakened is sadly working. Twatzilla and UBT are vile and evil. Every day they sink to new lows. Jace’s reaction would have been much worse if he were still living with Twatzilla when UBT slimed his way back into their lives. Can’t begin to imagine how poor Kaiser feels with David back in the picture.
Hopefully Jace and Kaiser write one hell of a book and it gets made into a movie so they can live comfortably. That’s about all they can get from the garbage adults in their lives (with the exception of Doris and Babs, who though not perfect does care). Janelle had no problem selling her kids out for MTV money. Hopefully the boys will turn the table one day and profit from the trauma Twatzilla and her parade of loser men put them through.
It’s the fact that people really don’t know how an involuntary commitment order works. Also, people don’t know how to tell the truth. I don’t know who sold you this story and if you thought you were getting your big one up that’s definitely not how it went. Also, in order to get IVC you have to physically go to a magistrate or you have to physically take the child to the hospital… In the state of North Carolina Law-enforcement cannot transport a child under the age of 18 unless a magistrate order has been signed. It would be highly impossible for Jenelle to do that had she have been in Vegas. Also in order to get sent to a psychiatric facility once an IVC has been completed, cause a minor can’t get there without it, would have to get approved for the IVC through the ED meaning the minor would have to exhibit signs that they are harm to themselves or others. You can’t just put a kid in a psychiatric facility because you want to… so maybe your sources should have told you the entire truth… cause you sound ignorant repeating what you were told.. makes for clicks though? I can promise you, that your “sources” are leaving out major pieces of this story.. that by the way shouldn’t be posted due to you exposing this child’s mental health struggles.
This is absolutely true, but what you are leaving out is that Jace did have a reaction to finding out his mother was back with David and with his history and diagnosis this is absolutely probable as there could easily be made a concern for his own welfare . BUT is this correct response who knows the biggest concern is just for Jace he has been though so much

Why would Barbara call Jenelle? She knows her own daughter; she knew she wouldn’t help Jace calm down. Say what you will about Barbara, but she never declared, “I’m done with Jenelle.”
Jenelle should be charged with severe child abuse and should be sentenced go to jail for every year Jace has been alive because she has done nothing for him but she physical and emotional abuse. She should not be allowed to care for any children. Jace is going to need intense therapy for many years if not the rest of his life.

I dont know, legally, what prosecutors are allowed to do in regards to Jace possibly testifying against DKD. Theres ring camera footage of the incident and, no doubt, detailed documentation from medical providers, police…etc.
I also think the reconciliation insane, but I’m not surprised Jenelle went back to DKD. She couldnt get a boyfriend in Vegas after “August” left her.
Jace absolutely needs help but she’s only doing this so that he can’t testify. Even if he does testify, her lawyers will be able to argue that his testimony isn’t reliable because of his psychological issues.

Isn’t there some way, someone can get a court appointed attorney for Jace and fill him or her in on what is really going on and that Jenelle only put him in there so his case against David would either be postponed or dropped. Jenelle is so fing stupid for not knowing the only reason David went back to her was so she wouldn’t testify against him in Jace’s court case.
