Trigger Warning: This story contains mentions of child abuse.
Kate Gosselin is reportedly freaking out about the upcoming release of her estranged son Collin‘s tell-all book, and Collin is now doubling down on his claims and reminding Kate of his 2025 challenge to take a polygraph test with her to back up her claims that she never abused Collin!
As The Ashley previously reported, Collin is set to release his tell-all book— In the Shadow of Eight: Surviving the Reality of My Childhood— in October. The book will reportedly reveal details of the abuse and neglect Collin has claimed he suffered at his mother’s hand for years, as well as the period of time where Kate sent Collin to a residential facility and refused to tell Collin’s father, Jon, where he was. On Friday, Daily Mail reported that Kate is terrified of Collin’s book.
“She didn’t expect any of this to ever come out. Now she’s spiraling because she knows it’s about to hit the fan,” the site’s source stated.
In response, Collin posted a screenshot of New York Post‘s version of the story to his Instagram Stories. (For a nice touch, he blurred Kate’s face!) He also added a comment left on the post by someone.
“What’s done in darkness will always come to light,” the person wrote.

On Sunday, Collin also posted a video of an interview he did last year, in which he challenges Kate to take a polygraph test alongside him regarding his claims of abuse. (In 2024, Collin spoke out about the emotional and physical abuse he allegedly suffered at Kate’s hand as a child, as well as his belief that Kate sent him to the institution when he was 12 years old because people started noticing the alleged abuse that was happening. Collin claimed that this abuse included Kate zip-tying his hands and feet together and locking him in a basement. Kate, through her attorney, refused to comment on the allegations at the time.)
“This was a year ago and I’ve been stood up by my mom…again,” Collin captioned the video, along with a crying laughing emoji.

“This is my formal invitation to her, to the hospital [she placed me in],” Collin says in the video. “The day that she got me out of the house, she had her ambulance friends pick me up…”
In the video, Collin also addressed his previous claims that Kate zip-tied his hands and feet together at times.
“Speaking on the topic of zip-ties, if I may… I would like to invite my mom to do a lie-detector test,” Collin says. “And that would be one of the questions.”
He then addresses his mother directly.
“Mom, if you’re listening to this, we would ask about the zip-ties,” he says. “I would also let her ask [me] questions, like ‘Were you ever violent toward your siblings? Did you ever put your hands on your siblings?’ Stuff like that. I want to get into everything.”

(This is likely in response to Kate and Collin’s older sister Mady claiming several years ago that Collin was aggressive and violent to people and animals in the Gosselin household when he was a child. In 2023, Mady— who is estranged from Collin but close to Kate— stated on social media that Collin “exhibited hateful and even violent behavior” and “physically threatened” every member of the family.)
In the interview from 2025 that was reposted by Collin this weekend, he states that he wants both himself and his mom hooked up to heart monitors and lie-detector tests.
“We can either ask each other questions or we can have an interviewer ask each other questions,” Collin offered.
Over the last few years, Kate has grown a new following on TikTok, where she posts about her life with her boyfriend Steve Neild (who was her former bodyguard) and her dogs. (As of press time, though, she has not addressed Collin’s upcoming book release.)
“…for so long, she’s been putting on this facade to the media, even before there was TikTok,” Collin says. “And, for me, I have nothing to hide. I want to ask her these questions. We can even do a livestream, too. I want these questions to be put out there. I want us to be hooked up to a machine that can catch any ifs, ands, buts, faults, lies, anything. I mean, I want the truth to be told.
“I always say, ‘There’s the truth, and then there’s the truth from Kate Gosselin’s point of view,'” he added.

“So, let’s just put it all out there,” Collin added. “This is my formal invitation to her.”
Needless to say, Kate has not taken Collin up on his offer to do a joint lie-detector test.
According to the Daily Mail story, Kate is also worried about Collin’s siblings finding out what he says is the truth about what happened to him. (Collin has no relationship with any of his siblings except for his sister Hannah.) The source claims that Aaden, Joel, Alexis, Leah, Cara and Mady will be “blindsided” if they read Collin’s book.
“[They don’t] really know the truth of what happened to him” beyond what Kate has said, the source stated.
Collin’s book, In the Shadow of Eight: Surviving the Reality of My Childhood hits shelves October 13 and is currently available for preorder.
