Collin Gosselin Responds to Report That His Mom Kate is “Spiraling” About His Tell-All Book’s Release; Challenges Her to Take Polygraph Test

“Let’s gooo, Mommy Dearest!”

Trigger Warning: This story contains mentions of child abuse.

Kate Gosselin is reportedly freaking out about the upcoming release of her estranged son Collin‘s tell-all book, and Collin is now doubling down on his claims and reminding Kate of his 2025 challenge to take a polygraph test with her to back up her claims that she never abused Collin!

As The Ashley previously reported, Collin is set to release his tell-all bookIn the Shadow of Eight: Surviving the Reality of My Childhood— in October. The book will reportedly reveal details of the abuse and neglect Collin has claimed he suffered at his mother’s hand for years, as well as the period of time where Kate sent Collin to a residential facility and refused to tell Collin’s father, Jon, where he was. On Friday, Daily Mail reported that Kate is terrified of Collin’s book.

“She didn’t expect any of this to ever come out. Now she’s spiraling because she knows it’s about to hit the fan,” the site’s source stated.

In response, Collin posted a screenshot of New York Post‘s version of the story to his Instagram Stories. (For a nice touch, he blurred Kate’s face!) He also added a comment left on the post by someone.

“What’s done in darkness will always come to light,” the person wrote.

On Sunday, Collin also posted a video of an interview he did last year, in which he challenges Kate to take a polygraph test alongside him regarding his claims of abuse. (In 2024, Collin spoke out about the emotional and physical abuse he allegedly suffered at Kate’s hand as a child, as well as his belief that Kate sent him to the institution when he was 12 years old because people started noticing the alleged abuse that was happening. Collin claimed that this abuse included Kate zip-tying his hands and feet together and locking him in a basement. Kate, through her attorney, refused to comment on the allegations at the time.)

“This was a year ago and I’ve been stood up by my mom…again,” Collin captioned the video, along with a crying laughing emoji.

“This is my formal invitation to her, to the hospital [she placed me in],” Collin says in the video. “The day that she got me out of the house, she had her ambulance friends pick me up…”

In the video, Collin also addressed his previous claims that Kate zip-tied his hands and feet together at times.

“Speaking on the topic of zip-ties, if I may… I would like to invite my mom to do a lie-detector test,” Collin says. “And that would be one of the questions.”

He then addresses his mother directly.

“Mom, if you’re listening to this, we would ask about the zip-ties,” he says. “I would also let her ask [me] questions, like ‘Were you ever violent toward your siblings? Did you ever put your hands on your siblings?’ Stuff like that. I want to get into everything.”

Kate’s face upon hearing that…probably.

(This is likely in response to Kate and Collin’s older sister Mady claiming several years ago that Collin was aggressive and violent to people and animals in the Gosselin household when he was a child. In 2023, Mady— who is estranged from Collin but close to Kate— stated on social media that Collin “exhibited hateful and even violent behavior” and “physically threatened” every member of the family.)

In the interview from 2025 that was reposted by Collin this weekend, he states that he wants both himself and his mom hooked up to heart monitors and lie-detector tests.

“We can either ask each other questions or we can have an interviewer ask each other questions,” Collin offered.

Over the last few years, Kate has grown a new following on TikTok, where she posts about her life with her boyfriend Steve Neild (who was her former bodyguard) and her dogs. (As of press time, though, she has not addressed Collin’s upcoming book release.)

“…for so long, she’s been putting on this facade to the media, even before there was TikTok,” Collin says. “And, for me, I have nothing to hide. I want to ask her these questions. We can even do a livestream, too. I want these questions to be put out there. I want us to be hooked up to a machine that can catch any ifs, ands, buts, faults, lies, anything. I mean, I want the truth to be told.

“I always say, ‘There’s the truth, and then there’s the truth from Kate Gosselin’s point of view,'” he added.

“I’d like to speak to your manager, Collin. I am NOT OK with that statement…”

“So, let’s just put it all out there,” Collin added. “This is my formal invitation to her.”

Needless to say, Kate has not taken Collin up on his offer to do a joint lie-detector test.

According to the Daily Mail story, Kate is also worried about Collin’s siblings finding out what he says is the truth about what happened to him. (Collin has no relationship with any of his siblings except for his sister Hannah.) The source claims that Aaden, Joel, Alexis, Leah, Cara and Mady will be “blindsided” if they read Collin’s book.

“[They don’t] really know the truth of what happened to him” beyond what Kate has said, the source stated.

  1. I think both things are true. Kate was abusive. But Collin also probably had significant behavioral issues. Ultimately other than them both trying to make money off of the situation it is probably for the best that the family is split the way it is. He has his dad and sister. And Kate has the other 6. Just because you are related doesn’t mean that lifelong relationships are in the best interest of both parties.

  2. He should sue Kate and make her have to sell that lake house here in NC and live in a trailer with her bodguard.

  3. Our 3 year old has been a terror since a baby. Cries all the time, never slept well, etc. Definitely not as bad behaved as others I’m sure but he is a lot to handle. Never having a child like that I too get frustrated a lot with him. He doesn’t listen, messes around a lot to where his younger and older sibling get hurt by him. He does what he wants and he will scream and cry. He is still a work in progress and my guessing is that Collin was a terror as a child but still very normal but not to Kate. My in laws gave their kids to family for months even years at a time for being uncontrollable. I think this is why Kate has so much disdain for him, even when he was young and it just carried on from the start of it.

I am not saying kates behavior was or is ok. It is not. I used to watch the show, I probably watched it all when I was a teen when it was out. Being an adult now and a parent now I see why she got angered so quickly. I have ocd and it can be very easy to set me off. I am also still a work in progress. My mind is constantly thinking about what needs to be done. My mind is overworked and I don’t get a break. Her having 8 kids and needing to have a routine to not lose her sanity, and having some form of compulsive behavior, you can tell from the need to have things be a certainway and clean, she was on the edge at all times. Jon probably did not do much and just made jokes. She had 8 small children to take care of and probably did not have time to herself.

I get it. I really do. But she should not have sent her son off. I am sure she told the kids stories about how he was mean to them and it was probably normal crazy child behavior. My son does it, he pushes and pulls all the time. He head butts, he throws toys. All in play. He says sorry after. He doesn’t mean it but this is again, what I am guessing happened.

    1. So you watched a grown woman threaten to throw away a boy’s comfort item (a teddy bear) while he sobbed, all over a little bit of gum…and understood that? Or the woman who screamed “they’re ruined!” over ice cream because she seemed to not know it melts? The woman who on the cover of his book holds a child’s mouth shut? Who got caught by the paparazzi literally beating her daughter? The woman who still gets on Tiktok and makes snide comments about the son she says has “special needs”? The woman who stole the money that was set aside for her kids to live the high life? The woman who freaked out on camera about a slice of pizza that was earmarked for her “bodyguard” she was paying more attention to than her children and now admits to dating, at the same time driving her children’s loving nanny away? You UNDERSTAND that? You saw ALL OF THAT and thought “I get it.” Yikes. 😬 And talking about your son the way that you are is INCREDIBLY disturbing. It DOES sound like Kate. You need help and I pray to God for the child you are raising because if that’s how you speak about him to strangers on the internet, God only knows what you say to his face.

      1. I said the women was overwhelmed and needed help. I didn’tsay it was ok, Iliterallysaid that. I said she needed more help. I also said my child throws tantrums and is still learning, I didn’t say anything bad about my child. Idk what reality you live in but in the world, real, online, movies, everywhere, most parents say that their child is a handful and they get overwhelmed. Idk what you read that I didn’t put down.

      2. knowone is defending Kate, she is very very wrong in her actions and in her words, but i do believe she was an overwhelmed women who if you didnt fall into line with her routine, her ways and her rules she made you pay, is this abuse, yes it is!

    2. Well said. Thanks for the honesty. While Kate is unlikable she clearly made some parenting mistakes with Collin who was as I remember kicked out of his private school for behavior issues. Kate has 7 children who are thriving adults, 6 who support and love her. They lived in that home, they know who their mother is and they know who Collin is. As adults they choose to have a relationship with their mother and not Collin, says a lot. Are they brainwashed? I suspect not. Collin blames his mother for almost immediately getting kicked out of the army. Unless he gets some help he will blame his mother for all of his failures for the rest of his life. This book is nothing more than a hurt child lashing out hoping to wound and I’m sure it will, A publisher cashing in on a family’s pain. I’d be nice if this book were a catalyst to bring Kate and Collin together so they can get the help they need but it will probably rip them apart and consequently the siblings from Collin forever.

      1. Excuse me but how can you say those other kids were not brain washed. They most certainly were. Parental alienation is just disgraceful and Kate did not want those kids to go to Jons in fear of them telling him what was happening. Then feeding them for years what they should think or say. She 💯 percent did this and it is her fault. Angela Jolie is another example and she is supposedly a humanitarian. Any caring parent who did the wrong thing would want to help their child and she doesn’t. She can sue him for defamation if she is in the public eye. Johnny Deep and Cardi B were succesfull at that are they are bigger than Kate could ever dream to be. It was her fault for him not getting in the Marines because she put him in an institution and lied. Any decent parent would take the lie detector and end it once and for all. Especially parent who claims to be innocent. She says she has nothing to hide so prove it so the family can heal and move forward. She is selfish and a liar.

  4. I think the book may be cathartic for him to write. Being abused and then being locked up and essentially abandoned has to have affected him to this day.

I unfortunately do not think that his siblings will be blindsided about what really happened. I think his siblings will not believe anything in the book that he writes about Kate. They believe what Kate has drilled into their heads. It’s sad really that she has even taken a relationship with his siblings away from him.

    1. I agree, they likely won’t even consider that he may be telling the truth. People often dont believe victims.
