Former ‘Sister Wives’ star Leon Brown– the only child of Kody and ex-wife Meri Brown– recently claimed on TikTok that being transgender is one of the things that “saved [their] life.”
The 31 year old, who came out as transgender and queer in 2022 and uses they/them pronouns, opened up on the social media platform last week about the positive impact that yoga and their “transgender identity” have had in their life, before going on to credit both things for saving them.
“Yoga practice and my identity as a trans person saved my life,” Leon captioned the TikTok, which featured them practicing a variety of yoga poses. “This experience holds deep, personal importance to me, tied closely to my journey as part of the queer community.”
In the video, Leon went on to explain to followers (via voiceover) that it’s important to them that all people “see trans people doing yoga” and for “trans bodies to be celebrated.”
“We are so, so beautiful in every single form … ,” Leon stated. “It’s important to me that I continue this practice for myself because, like being trans, yoga is like coming home … .
“Yoga is a place where I found softness, stability, grace, purpose,” they continued. “Being trans makes me soft, makes me strong, makes me [a] creator, makes me proud. And I don’t see these two as separate from each other … .”
As followers know, Leon– who married their partner Audrey Kriss (who is also transgender) in 2022– often posts videos to TikTok that feature them practicing yoga or doing meditation/breathwork. As The Ashley previously told you, the former TLC star even launched their own Patreon in April, offering monthly meditation/breathwork memberships beginning at $17.
In addition to their regular social media content, Leon recently began opening up on TikTok about their experience “growing up in a [polygamist] cult”– something they told fans in May that they were finally ready to begin speaking about.
“ … I haven’t really ever talked about my own story publicly before, and that feels increasingly inauthentic,” Leon shared at the time. “I think it’s time that I start talking about it. I love stories, I’m a storyteller, I’m a story listener, stories really enrich my life and have helped me really find parts of myself that I need. And I think it’s probably time I start sharing my own story.”
While many ‘Sister Wives’ fans expressed on social media that they were looking forward to hearing Leon’s story, some of that excitement seemingly diminished the following month when Leon took to TikTok to set some firm boundaries regarding the way fans interact with them in public. In their video, Leon explained that they are “not out in public to be people’s entertainment or to be consumed by people, [they’re] out in public to live [their] life.”
“So if you see me out, don’t say hi,” Leon said. “If you have something to say, you can send me a message, maybe I’ll see it. I’m pretty private and I will only share what I wanna share and I don’t like talking to strangers in public that know me and I don’t know them.”
A month later, Leon– who has mostly avoided ‘Sister Wives’ in recent years and, like many of their siblings, is estranged from Kody– doubled down on their comments, insisting that asking fans not to come up and say “hi” to them was “a very reasonable boundary.”
